Grand Prix model pic -
I have been working on a stock body 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix 2 + 2. The problem I am having is duplicating the wheel openings. The shape, is ok but it's the recessed part of the wheel opening that the wheel well trim is mounted that I am having trouble duplicating. I have a couple pics. One is the body I'm working on and the other is a photograph of the real car. See the arrows that show what I am trying to do.

If you were in charge of a model company
GMP440 replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would have lots of product developement done. For instance I would invest in new tooling for subjects that modelers been crying for. Focus would be less on reissues and more on subjects we have not seen in years. Also, would do more manufacturing in the US. -
why are those 60's models so rare?
GMP440 replied to randx0's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thinking about this; just imagine the giant garbage dumps that grew into big multi acre hills after 40 or so years and being able excavate them. I bet you find alot of model cars there that were thrown away , ending up in the landfills. -
Why don't you get a resin 69' Coronet from one of the resin companies? Then get the Revell/Monogram 68' or 69' Charger R/T kit for all the chassis and front end components. Far superior than the Round 2 chassis parts that are in the Dukes and Roadrunner kits. Nice thing about the front end parts from the Revell/Monogram kit is that front wheels steer. The Revell parts will get you much better detail parts.

Is this what passes for Pro Built?
GMP440 replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Saw the e-bay ad. Nothing in the title says pro built. Just a model built with no detail. If he gets his price more power to him. -
Amazing technology. This definetly would revolutionize the resin casting industry.

Dukes of Hazzard what ifs . . .
GMP440 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here is an interesting what if; someone mentioned a Dodge Coronet in one of the previous replies. What if the Dukes of Hazard show used a 68' or 69' Dodge Coronet instead of the Charger? Would MPC have resurrected the 68'/69' Coronet kit for the run of the show? Definetly makes for an interesting possibility that could have happened. -
5 model cars or trucks you wish were made.

1968 Dodge Coronet R/T 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T 1979-1987 Pontiac Grand Prix -
Maybe a mix of using a resin Riviera boattail, and AMT mid 70's kit could be a good starting point for this. resin Buick.

I highly recommend Harbor Freight's double action airbrush. Performs really well. Kit comes with two glass bottles, two needles , hose and holder. Harbor freight double action airbrush.

MPC 68' Coronet R/T or the 68' Coronet Feverbee kit. Any MPC 76' thru 80' Plymouth Volare Roadrunner
-
I wholeheartedly agree with you, Foxbat. I beleive the kit manufactureres should use the developement dollars to ressurrect tooling that has not seen the light in 40 years instead of reissuing the same kits year after year. How many 57' Chevy's or Camaros or Mustangs do we need? I would love to see them redo the MPC 68' Coronet R/T. Also, what about re-releasing the the 76' thru 80' Plymouth Volare Roadrunners?

What is everyones opinion on the I-Hobby announcements?
GMP440 replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
"I think tooling dollars might have been better spent on something we haven't had on the shelves for over 40 years like another '57 Ford. And yes, I know, it's a different trim and body type, but really, there are plenty of other cars that could be kitted that we've never had (or haven't had in decades) in plastic, like any mid to late '50s Mercury. Frankly, I would have liked a '58 Ford instead of another '57. " I also agree with the above statement. Would love to see the 68' Dodge Coronet R/T come out. That one was last released in 68'. Was supposed to be released about two years ago, but was cancelled. Round2 please look into this . -
'78 Olds Cutlass Supreme
GMP440 replied to Chuck Most's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
A few years ago Revell was supposed to do an 86' Cutlass. Someone posted a pic of the Cutlass kit that never came out.
