  1. Ok good. I was getting worried there for a second.
  2. And I thought this kit was based off a new tooling.
  3. What'd you use for the wheels and tires?
  4. I'm so glad HRM is doing the Rudge wheels. I wound up purchasing 2 of these kits at the Long Beach Grand Prix; one to do the Tim Flock alloy-bodied car, and the other will be a stock 300SL.
  5. Ordered mine through HLJ, who claims the kit is backordered. Hope that they restock soon or I'm gonna look elsewhere.
  6. There is a 1954 300SL out there that ran at Bonneville back in the '50s. That car is currently in Costa Mesa, CA and the owner drove it in the Monterey Historics a few years ago.
  7. I think it would look even better with those Rudge wheels.
  8. Hoping it's gonna be available at the Long Beach Grand Prix because Tamiya has a booth there, and they sell a ton of their products.
  9. Looks like an awesome kit. I can't wait to get my hands on mine.
  10. It's supposed to be out anytime now. I checked my LHS and they didn't have it yet.
  11. Came across this article regarding the Lamborghini Miura from The Italian Job. Glad to hear that the car is still around. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3005972/The-Italian-rescue-job-Iconic-Lamborghini-classic-film-46-years-no-mafia-DIDN-T-throw-cliff.html
  12. That's gonna be an awesome sheet. On a side note, the late Robert Stack also had a 300SL with the license plate UNTCHBL on it. I think that car was also painted in Strawberry metallic.
  13. I think the proper way to build the road racer is to shorten the back of the body.
  14. A couple distributors in Japan have received them early, and are on eBay.
  15. I would be pretty darn excited if they included decals for the Richie Ginther car.
  16. I'm actually okay with the trunk not opening. Either way it's gonna be an absolutely beautiful kit, and I am definitely going to be doing the Tim Flock Gullwing because I have the Moebius 1955 and 1956 Chrysler 300 kits with the Flock markings, as well as the 1952 Hudson that includes the Flock markings. With all these kits, my collection of Tim Flock cars will be complete.
  17. I'm so glad that Tamiya is coming out with this really nice kit of the 300SL Gullwing. I had the AMT Gullwing that I intended on building as the Flock car, and when I heard about the Tamiya kit coming out, I sold the AMT Gullwing, and now I'm waiting for this thing to come out.
  18. Since I'm doing the road racer, I'm probably going to be swapping the kit wheels out for something suitable, or may even use a wheel and tire set from Plastic Performance Products.
  19. This is the car I'm planning on doing. Hopefully, we can get some correct decals and Rudge wheels for this version.
  20. Nassau Blue looks like the perfect color to do the road racer in. Sourcing taillights would be another issue. This kit is certainly going to be on my radar.
  21. I will probably be doing the road racer if I get this kit. May need some conversion work, but will be a good kit otherwise.
  22. To convert the chrome taillights to 1966 specs, I use the chrome taillights, but strip the chrome off before I reshape the part so they're individual taillights, and not the traditional part. I also drill out the center of the taillights, paint them with Tamiya TS-17 Gloss Aluminum, or Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf, and then spray a final coat of Tamiya TS-74 Clear Red, to give them a more appropriate look. Once the paint has dried, I take a sewing needle, and rub the inside of the hole with 5 Minute Epoxy before I insert a suitably-sized piece of aluminum tubing into the hole that I've drilled using a pin vise. For 1965 specs, I would remove the piece in the middle that makes them look like they're molded together, and reshape the ends that were cut to blend in with the taillight, strip the paint, prime them, and then use the same combination of Tamiya sprays to paint them.
  23. Really looking forward to this one.
  24. Hopefully, we can get a Tim Flock version. Believe it or not, Tim Flock drove a white 300SL sponsored by Mercury Outboards in the one and only NASCAR sports car race back in 1955, and won outright.
