  1. It helps even less when going sideways. It would do no good at all.
  2. (A few days ago) A Triton research submarine by Aoshima. This is the submersible that was used to get the first ever film footage of a live giant squid. It even came with a paper model of a giant squid. It looks really cool, except that the representation of a plexiglass sphere had to be made in two pieces. I can't imagine a better way to do it, affordably, anyway. I got some Tamiya "Camel" yellow for it, whick looks like a good match, but I may shoot some pearl over that. Hey- if I were spending millions of bucks on a research vessel, I'd darn sure make it look nice. It would be awesome if they made a model of the Trieste.
  3. I'm imagining an old Jaguar inline-6 in a street rod without a hood. Get the classic look of side draft Webers but have a fuel rail and injectors under the manifold(s).
  4. Tomorrow is our monthly meeting at the shop. I'll sit down with the boss to talk about a pay raise. Plumbers are in high demand in Texas right now. If I don't like the number, I can go to any number of other companies... In theory, anyway. My employer treats us well, and there's plenty of overtime if we want it. Enough that less per hour here can mean more take home than somewhere else...and I have no plans to go to a shop that pays commission.
  5. "Frontiers" was a great album. I wear a shirt with a long tail. No plumber's crack. Period. I like to project a professional image. No union for me, No problem with it, but I'm not in one.
  6. I'm going to save up for a 351 Windsor forged short block for my Ranger project. spellcheck is keeping me from looking like a complete moron. I love it.
  7. They couldn't afford me before. hehehe Thanks also- wow! I'm glad I have spellcheck.
  8. I checked the mail when I got back from an out of town trip today. I passed the test I took last week, and now I'm a Journeyman. I live in Texas, and we have really strict plumbing regulations. I was a Tradesman, which meant I could not work on commercial or multi-family jobs without supervision. It also meant that I could not work with propane gas without supervision. My new license will let me be a more valuable employee..and get me a pay raise. I'm a happy guy. I got home kinda late for celebrating. I didn't go out with friends. I just got a couple of weird beers from the grocery store and I'm cranking some early Led Zeppelin.
  9. There was a Cadillac with heads like that. A guy in New Zealand has one in a street rod.
  10. Maybe he just had too much of Rosie.
  11. OK. It MUST be a conspiracy by Gregg. He apparently thinks your money has cooties, so he has your copies mangled. Makes perfect sense.
  12. Just called the number posted by Harry. The issue is on its way to me. Thanks MCM and Golden Bell.
  13. I have never gotten a torn-up issue of MCM. I have subscribed for two years. It has to be a problem on your end...unless Gregg is telling USPS to tear up YOUR copies. Yes, that was sarcasm. Seriously- if it is just a few people whose magazines get torn up, it has to be happening on their end.
  14. That turbine bike looks like one going together in Sweden for land speed racing. I'll check later tonight. The first one just looks silly.
  15. And the linked article says so.
  16. Cool. Thanks. I picked up some white primer today on my lunch break. I'll check out Paul Budzik's channel. He was one of my favorite FSM authors. Always enjoyed his articles.
  17. I have one of those McLarens. It was on sale. I got it just for the engine and its awesome induction system. (I think those intake trumpets would look awesome poking through the hood of a AMT's Baldwin-Motion '70 Camaro). If the OP wants to talk trades, I'm looking for a resin '27 T roadster body.
  18. I'm getting ready to airbrush a plane with Tamiya acrylics. I have never used these. I tried brush painting the cockpit and it did not have good adhesion. Would their spray can grey or white primer be a good choice? FYI- the plane is Gerhard Barkhorn's Bf-109E-1. I got a book about him, with paintings and photos of all 15 of the aircraft he flew during the war. The same company offers a decal sheet with markings for all 15 aircraft.
  19. You could look for this: ...but it's not cheap.
  20. A pair of these. Mine are used. One is missing all the r/c gear. That's OK, it would get thrown out, anyway. Now I need to find 1/6 scale '56 Packard tail lights.
  21. Afterburner?
  22. Another guess- it's the same reason we don't see many 1/48 scale cars. It's half the size an already popular scale. Not many people want to put a motorcycle next to a car/in a pickup bed. Just like there are not many people who want to put a car next to an airplane.
