  1. Oh now you are gonna make me tear my Dad's tractors down so I cab detail those too. Good Job,
  2. Awesome build. I plan to do a diorama of my Hotrod shop I plan to build and expand til it looks like it. So it will serve two purposes. One to see it in 3d and two for my cars and the 3 tow rigs I oplan to build for my shop. It resembles the service station of the future from the popular mechanics mag in the early 50s but has serious Texaco influence in the design. The front show room will be big enough for about a medium size performance restoration parts store with 4 bays and 2 bathrooms around the side and two canopy's similar to the one you built.
  3. You ever want to sell the Texaco as is PM me. Love Texaco. Beautiful Build by the way. I would settle for a specs list on the Texaco though.
  4. Yeah I see them all the time up here in ND. But I94 is a major route to Eastern and Western Seaboard. Iagree with it looking ugly. They hit the Art Deco Grille Look but is out of place on a new rig and does not resemble the 38 IH they were trying to emulate.
  5. Thanks Guys. yeah it was on the '72 Cheyene MPC Kit. Just found it. Wonder if anyone has instructions so I can see what parts it came with and then I'll build a twin boom Holmes W45 for it. Does anyone sell 1 ton Vintage dually Wheels? Oh and Cooter's Wrecker from the Dukes.
  6. I guess the towtruck body looks similar to this but was this model ever built in plastic? My Dad says he don't know where it came from. http://www.diecastfast.net/images/90998_r.jpg
  7. These would give me some inspiration when I finally get to building my own trucks. Check these beasts out: http://picasaweb.google.com/116914289748645037319 My personal Favorite:
  8. My dad says that about the regular kits lol. Cuz he remembers when he bought all his kits none were over 12 dollars a piece.
  9. This is the M870A3 which is the detachable neck the first design was an M870A1 with collapsible neck. This has more dimensions: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=m870a1+trailer&view=detail&id=AC5DFF54AE456038A1AED22D6BA9BEA21CC4EE8B&first=0&FORM=IDFRIR Air Brake Diagram http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=m870a3+trailer&view=detail&id=D4F1E957B7CA95DCFC2857536C5EB8030E857B7E&first=0&FORM=IDFRIR and structural Diagram http://www.tpub.com/content/trucktractor6x4/TM-5-2330-325-14-P/TM-5-2330-325-14-P0360im.jpg

  11. I noticed the bed. Saw an 81 here the other day with a closed 67-72 tail gate. I knew the chassis were the same on 4x4s but never thought that would work.
  12. Judging from the looks of it the cab (at least the rear half) came off an F6 Ford Semi type truck. Looks like it is based off the early integral sleeper designs of the 50s.
  13. I'll tell you your best bet would be to go to a local Automotive paint supplier and ask them what color mix they use and then replicate it. Onyx Black is a standard non-metallic non pearl Black and the White is Arctic White which is a very bright pure white, no metallic or pearl. The colors look the same with different names because the manufacturers have to use flashy names to sell the car.
  14. Sexy Sexy. Awesome Job Rom.
  15. Perfect I'll give her a shot on my Dad's Model Semi's I am Restoring. Most need new paint or paint period and I am updating to Kustom paint schemes on them.
  16. Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this axle. I have done a few fixes but this one is broke a little farther up. Also does anyone have pics of this wrecker body so I know what it is supposed to look like and what kit it came out of. It is an early Holmes from the look of it. 40s-50s. I would like to take this Texaco 1950 Chevy Shop Truck and use the wrecker body. ]
  17. Here is a few more of the Autocar. These are my Kustom built Mudflaps for the Autocar since it was missing one short one in front and one in the rear.
  18. Thanks. I will. The trailer my Dad used is not correct but for now I'll use it but I need to repaint it because the scheme is wrong.
  19. Yes I know it has a black eye. I can't find any ###### headlight lenses. International Transtar torn down and Rebuilt in Candy Burgundy and Ivory White. The Tanks were done in Ivory and the Aircleaner and rear fenders are in Burgundy. The Interior is Black and Burgundy Cloth.
  20. Here are more of the Green KWhopper:
  21. Here is the next new build i plan to do. I need to get two of of the mid 40s Chevy Pickup Models. It was used to transport military parts and equipment. The hood was raised and another axle added to stack two 235 I6s on top of one another and then chain driven to the transmission.
  22. I figure I would resurrect this so you all know or remember what I working with. I currently have torn apart and in ziplock kits: Orange Kenworth Cement Mixer, Black Chevy 4x4 Dually stepside, Alaskan Hauler, Paystar with 5th wheel, Hemi Cuda, BJ and the Bear Rig, Pete Tow Truck and the Copper Pete with Sleeper. Rebuilt or WIP is the International Cab Over with Visor, Second green Movin' on Kenworth, Gray snap tight KW Conventional with sleeper, had the Paystar with 5th wheel together but tore it back down for new paint, One reefer and one low boy with International and JD Tractor for a load. Current WIP is the Autocar Dump. Thanks for all the tips and tricks for disassembly but what do you guys use for taking off the paint from the 70s? Thanks. Pics of the current builds will be posted elseware.
  23. Finally got around to rebuilding my Dad's Models. Here is my current WIP. It is the Autocar Dump. It was originally painted the Box Colors of red and white but I am redoing it in Black and Forest Green. Enjoy. Here is a few others I have done with no WIP pics: This one is a Sonny Pruitt "Movin' On" Duplicate from the collection: I will post more of this truck and more tomorrow.
  24. Hey turned out great. Sorry, I couldn't find pics. Searched hi and low. Finally getting around to rebuild my Dad's rigs. After spending 110 days on flood operations with NG in ND.
  25. I will be rebuilding one of these in the next couple of months. I finally am digging into my Dad's old rigs. Just finished a Jade Green Movin' On KW, A Candy Burgundy and Ivory White Transtar and a Paystar 5000. Oh and a Gray original KW snap. So what did you use for winch cable?
