i would much rather "donate-direct" than give a dollar at the supermarket checkout line to an organization that might see 2 cents of it after everyone else gets their take.
and i absolutely refuse to give money to the little beggars with the tin cans that circulate around the entrances. begging for funds does not teach young people anything but, well, begging. i'm nobody's crowdfunder. scouts and athletic teams should be out working for their monies.
Veterans are the only guys (& gals) to whom i'll give a cash donation. most i see selling poppies are old enough to appreciate the value of a dollar.
