  1. this gives me a whole new perspective on the Model T.
  2. he's active on TRAK but i don't know his username http://trakinscale.proboards.com/index.cgi
  3. i think you need to temper the (good) advices above by the particular model. NASCARs may respond to one way, customs, or traditional racers, another. don't focus too tightly on the immediate and lose track of the overall result. like anything, practice leads to experience, and mistakes are great teachers. and most of the mistakes will only be noticed by you.
  4. exactly. is that where the 'to frame' bracket would be on a 1:1 car? This gap, where to locating pin on the backside of the firewall meets the inside corner on the body's cutout?:
  5. ....Anyone start out on a TV tray?RAT FINK 006.jpg
  6. speaking of '32 firewalls ........... why do they all have an open slot on each side so that light shows between it and the body?
  7. i was driving down the road and there was a young girl hitch hiking. i put my foot on the brake and then realized i was too old to pick up teen age hitchhikers, so i accelerated and kept going. this was 30 years ago.
  8. that's wild.
  9. i'm waiting for the mechanical brakes - i know they're coming .....
  10. you certainly made that into a great looking traditional hot rod!
  11. nice. and i like the idea of never having it finished, but rather continue to evolve.
  12. try here: http://forum.gn15.info/index.php?sid=480d65ff62a8471aa495212ad7c176af these guys are always making fruit, or vegetables, to haul to market
  13. any more pics of that bug?
  14. the Judges obviouly know what to look for, but i don't understand the red engine. color is understandably subjective, but i think it detracts not only from itself, but from the body color. the interior color is borderline. it's competing with the body, rather than complimenting it. i do think it's is a beautiful ride as far as design & construction.
  15. aside from the exquisite workmanship, the Hollywood Garage hits all the high points a diorama should have. Great Job!
  16. interesting how perception can differ from reality. saw his posts after the fire and sensed his need for something to divert his worry and pain. he seemed to know period hot rods, so i tried to entice him to start a Q&A specifically aimed at flathead engines. it didn't really grow wings, but posters tried to let him know there was much he could offer. sorry story, especially from someone who gave so much. RIP
  17. i'd say it's a Success
  18. anyone care to show engine pics & detail tips for same? thanks
  19. if everything shares the detail of the carburetor, it will be a fantastic ride
  20. zombie garage?
  21. fascinating. any chance you could post a link to the Tatra? did a search but it came 'round to this thread. thanks. & subscribed.

  23. look for the actual dimension of the piece. just like buying styrene or brass stock. maybe this will help: http://modelclass.tripod.com/index.htm if something is listed as 1/48 scale, figure it will be half that size in 1/24. you can do it! an easy way is to go to a dollhouse building website and look for 1/2" scale or G model railroading scale. btw: Ozark Miniatures has some great stuff! http://www.ozarkminiatures.com/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=1237
