I love it! Wonder how much work it would be to make a stock version? -
Here are the ones I have finished. The orange one was patterned from a picture of the one that came with the AMT 63 Nova. The red and white one was going to be a teardrop cargo trailer and the one in front is a regular teardrop camper. The purple one's body came from the 38? Ford by Monogram so it is only partially scratch built.

This is funny, we just saw a pair of Challengers in Plum Crazy yesterday in Austin traffic.. -
3D printing quality

The printers will likely become as commonplace and inexpensive as desktop paper inkjet printers are today. I think the delay may come from the other end at least until some form of quick 3d scanner or other easy way of designing the prototype becomes available to those of us lacking design skills. -

I like to build in pairs, so I did these two... One stock and the other a shop truck. Nothing fancy, just curbsides..

It's a homemade body, made one afternoon when I was long on ambition and short on money. I searched the internet for a profile of a P38 belly tank and printed it out to scale. I carved a body half out of Balsa, I didn't have any fiberglass cloth, so I stretched a piece of old T-shirt tightly over it. I had an old can of Bondo fiberglass resin that was still good. I made two halves and bonded them together. A little sanding, smoothing and painting and some scrap parts and I had a belly tank. I started a 1/10 scale version to see if I could make a radio control version and go really fast, but moving put that on hold. Maybe some day I'll get back to it!! -
Somewhere a long time ago, there was a guy on here who turned the 460 in Monogram's F-250 into a Power Stroke diesel. It looked pretty accurate to me. You could do that, or maybe one of the Chevy big blocks could be transformed? Don't know, just a thought.

A while back I was in charge of the Pinewood Derby for our local pack. After helping so many kids build their cars, I decided to build one for myself. In a box of old model car wheels, I found an original set of pinewood wheels from the 50s so I built my pinewood car as a Soapbox Derby car just to be different. It wasn't super fast, but it was fun to build.

is it only a matter of scale?
oldcarfan replied to detailstymied's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Maybe for the same reason that we get mad about our Ford or Chevy needing service once in a while, but when a Ferrari or Mercedes breaks down everyone just says that's normal? -
This is great!
