1: Primer is supposed to help protect the body from "hot" paints, or those paints that contain chemicals that can harm some plastics. You're using automotive paint on your model and it's having a reaction to it. I've heard people say it has something to do with the color of the paint, others say it's just a different formula batch of paint from year to year. 2: Primer is supposed to assist in adhesion of the top coat of paint to your model. Without it, it can cause the paint to flake off or bubble up, causing egg-shell cracking and orange peel like you're seeing. 3: Tamiya and Fujimi are famous for using clear hoods as part of the build. This is because Japanese modellers can build the car with a visible engine bay without popping open the hood. Clear plastics are NOT THE SAME as white model plastic and therefore are going to have a completely different reaction to direct contact paints. Primer goes on clear parts quite well and protects them from the chemicals in top coat paints. Bottom line: Primer paint is not a waste of money. If you care how your model looks, consider using primer on at least the outside parts of the car (body panels, hood, etc...). Not only will it help how it's put together, it should look nice and hold its color for a long time.

Tamiya bare metal silver as-12. Great for just straight non-shiny metal. -

Not really, they tend to use orange lights like here in VA. It was all I had as an emergency light rack so I used it (at least it wasn't police blue!!!). And they are classed as Service vehicles, not Emergency. -
Revell '69 Dodge Charger. Just don't build it in orange and slap a Dixie flag on it.

Yeah... more detail on what you LIKE would help tremendously on which car we recommend.

I have seen someone on FB doing wonders with building a truck to match the "Happy Toyz" gremlin semi truck and want to build one myself. 1: What truck IS this? (I'm thinking Kenworth) 2: What is the closest model truck in 1:24 or 1:25 scale that is out there that comes close to it? 3: Is he sourcing the decals out on the web for the trailer and then printing them off? 4: It looks like I can use a "head" from a 12" Green Goblin toy from the "Spiderman" movie line as the gremlin face. Think it's possible? I don't know if he's on here but I want to make up that truck as best I can.

Exactly.... You want to clearcoat them so that they will seal up and last a long time. If you have decals that screw up after putting on a clearcoat, then you need to wait longer to allow them to dry before putting it on.

Use Future (acrylic floor wax). Locks in the decal every time and looks great.

Awesome job on a resin kit. I might get one and see how I do with it. Cool!
-
Yes it does. Kinda shocked me too... I wasn't expecting one in there.
-
NOTE: Some of the engine components are different than mine. It comes with a fuel injection system, and I put on a different manifold and added a carb and air cleaner. Also, there is no "bubble-top", that came from the Chevy Rescue truck kit.

Nope... never saw it before in my life.... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=101273 Part 2....

I'm back on cars after a number of truck builds.... this is the AMT kit. I actually like the Supercharger in this kit.... Typical musclecar black interior with silver highlights.... Tamiya Gloss Black basecoat and One-Coat Inca Gold... And Black Vinyl Top to be finished today, followed by silver trim....

Looks like a dark cherry red. Nice!

Alright. I am very slightly perturbed now. I had the MPC '74 Roadrunner SE tin in my hold cart on Amazon for $37.90 waiting for my paycheck to clear so I could go ahead and buy it. The check clears so I switch to Amazon to make my purchase. And the price jumped from $37.90 to $80.85. Yeah. Sure. Choke on that kit there, pal. Bet you are right here on this forum, reading everything we say, jacking up your prices. I don't even have to mention your name, you're the only one selling it at that price. Idiot. Good thing Model Roundup still has it at a decent price.... hah.
-
Sadly, it seems like it's happening even with more mundane kits as well. Case in point.... '74 Roadrunner MPC and Revell '67 Ford Mustang "Bullitt". One mention of a kit being phased out, all of a sudden it's OMG!!!!! LAST ONE!!!!!! MUST BUY IT BEFORE THE POXXY-KLIPSE!!!!!! A STEAL AT $150!!!!!!!! At those prices they can be buried with them when they die. Grrrrr......
