  1. Me Too! Most will not know(or remember ) and will associate Charlie with Saddleback. I picked up several sets of the kit decals, maybe repros from Modelking years ago. As I recall, they were cheap enough to use as masks. The scan idea sounds good, maybe even scan to frisket paper.
  2. "Kind of hard to get two or three rattle cans to mix." Hmmm. I see an opporunity here
  3. I may have told this before. Story in a mag about a Superbird resto. Buyer was curious why the car had some scuffs on the wing top and slight scuffs on the vinyl top. The original owner's story was when he remodeled his home he found the wing and the roof made a great carry - all for sheets of paneling, drywall etc!
  4. Paypal and Free Shipping... 3 of the prettiest words in modeling. My Hobby allowance is almost gone for this month, but next month...WHOO-BOY!!!
  5. I rarely decant a spray can that still sprays, I'll generally use the modified tip on the can. Most of what I decant, that is open the can up and drain it are cans that don't spray or are questionable. When looking at 100 cans of Testor's for $.50 a can it's too good to pass up. This brings up a sore spot with me and should with all of us that airbrush. I think that Tamiya's & Testor's paints are great, both companies sell airbrushes so what's the deal with NOT putting their ENTIRE lines in bottles and aerosols?
  6. I have several sets of CA's Dart decals and when it comes to the blue car I thought I'd try applying the decal to an all blue car as a mask, then shooting the silver over it. Of course this is theoretical I also thought about using the resin grill surround & PE grille too. I think the lettering is nearly the same or close enough on the red decals. Keep up the good work, I'll save some of your pics like the roll bar mod.
  7. Nice project and one I've wanted to do also. I don't get cutting out the grille though. Wasn't that all part of the fiberglass body and just painted?
  8. Hey Danno! I'd be happy to demo my decanting technique over at your house
  9. I always tape off the area when I decant cans with plastic. I also cut a hole in a large plastic bag and pull it over myself in case of a miscue Before pouring the paint into a bottle let them sit a while then pour into a glass jar and lightly put the cap on and gently shake bottle then release the cap. There is alot of propellant in those paints! The safest way to get paint out of spray cans though is to get those tubes that are nozzle extenders and drill out the tip so the tube fits, then epoxy in place. I have some tips set-up for a Testor's type valve and some for Tamiya's. Happy de-canting
  10. I use one of those ratcheting hand clamps to depressurize the can. Put a spray tip on the can, shake it good AND TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN. Apply the clamp and hang it someplace upside down and let the gas out. After a while you can release the clamp and rip the top off with a good pair of side cutters. It helped that I worked for an aerosol valve company and got some experience doing this for QC dept.
  11. Norm had or has some other upgrade parts for this car. I remember the headlite trim for one and some other stuff for the California.
  12. Me too! I also have the HRM kit and the MFH one. I guess I can use these to accurize . looking forward to seeing the modifications to the Gunze kit.
  13. Excellent work and pleased that the top went some where instead of my parts box. I also see you use my favorite brand of sandpaper.
  14. As a cigar smoker I liken it to the difference between a corona and a gordo
  15. On a positive note, it was nice connecting and re-connecting with all the people. Mark great to see you again after all the years. Danno, Bernie, Raoul ,Dan D ,Mike,Chip and sooo many others. Also met and talked with Steve Prideux . Great reminiscing about the Lil Screamer and midwest drag icons. I'll be at Modelzona, but don't know if I'll set-up. Waiting for Tucson, gonna pull out a LOT of stuff from the vault, and of course there is Desert Scale classic WHOO-BOY!!
