  1. " I usually don't build for absolute accuracy, I just like to build. " Pretty much sums up me too. Ironically I had just started this model as a slump buster. I've added most of the custom parts with some modifications. After reading what a POS this kit is I guess I should have just throw it away. Some people really know how to kill a buzz!
  2. The other point is that if the model company wants to make it easier for some one to put a hole in he hood why go thru the bother of adding all the fine under hood structure.?
  3. "aside from the childish name-calling?" That could all be handled in 25 pages or less
  4. Taking in all modeling stuff is subjective though. For instance I have a Sherline lathe & Mill and the required essentials for CNC. A band saw . That alone was $3000.00 Then there is 10 or so Airbrushes $1000.00? I have equipment for casting, Pressure pot 12x24 700.00 and a vacuum chamber $800.00. I don't really need this stuff for enjoying model building, but I was in the right place at the right time.
  5. I used to thin enamel with lacquer thinner, but then I tried Testors airbrush thinner for their enamels. It worked great and reading the label I found that xylene (sp) was the predominant component and have been using it since.
  6. What makes you think there won't be a 50 page thread about anew issue '34 Ford, or just about any new issue here?
  7. Yeppers!! Experts unbounded.
  8. Enough to fill a 10x20 storage unit. And I go to 6 shows a year to try and thin the herd.
  9. Great! I have some honduras maroon over gray primer that should suffice. It's 1/43rd and a simple kit at that.
  10. Okay thanks, Maybe I can do that with an acrylic.
  11. What about the Mobeius Chrsylers?
  12. As a slump buster working on a 1/43rd Chaparral 2A . There is a dark color low in the body line. Is it brown, dark maroon,or? and is the entire bottom this color? Thank you
  13. Nice! in '66 we built my brothers '65 like Mopar said with a book they provided. Told what valves to use, Cam etc car ran in the low 14's with a 3:91 rear ratio. By that time Dougs headers had a real nice set that went down under the chassis.
  14. Search the forum. Someone built a resin kit and used those.
  15. The grail I seek now is the 1/12th Bandai STP turbine car. Anyone have one?
  16. Indeed. A pioneer of the drag racing scene to have known.
  17. Reminds me of that site "they had ONE job"
  18. Soak them in hot water. If you try to force them the tire will crack. OR shave down the rim diameter.
  19. I like that brass idea too. Must try that on a 1/16th '63 vette that messed up the post trying to get out the windshield.
  20. I agree about that Dupli-color sealer. It acts very much like Tamiya's gray primer. I stopped using Dupli-color primer after getting about a dozen cans of Plasti-coat 466 for $2.00 ea.
  21. Messy stuff. Wear nitrile gloves at Harbor Freight.
  22. This why having a REAL location is helpful.
