That'd be awesome! Worth the price of admission alone, esp. with the B-O-P mounting pattern TH-400.
-
IIRC, all GTA Firebirds are Buick 231/3.8 litre turbo powered.
-
That '71 Olds hardtop looks great! The green w/ white interior is fantastique! Anyone know if it's got the TH-400 or the 4-speed? Both?
-
Both are Monogram 1/24 scale Mark IV engines -- should be a direct fit. Good observation and good call on that! I watched HPI Guy's review and build of the ancient Monogram 1966 Chevelle (Chris' choice for colours was perfect). Apparently the tooling is a good condition; I didn't even notice the wonky roof ('bowed' top edge of windscreen and roof), at least on his example.

It'll be nice to have the Judge and the Road Runner back again.

Is that a Buick Nailhead? Or, is it an SBC with "upright" rocker arm covers? -
Thanks for the clarification re: the clear. I've used Scratch Doctor as a polish, too. It's a nice, smooth polish which works great on plastic (obviously) and painted plastic.

**Shout-Out to 'Best Model Decals'**
1972coronet replied to 1972coronet's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Well, let me put it this way: I had 'Best' make up the following plates; following, their respective applications: 1.) 'YQV 295'. That was the plate on my parents' 1969 Dart two door. The 'registration' stickers are for "1971" and "1972" (prior to the 1976 calendar year, California issued two 'year' stickers. The 'month' sticker premiered on/around 01/01/1976) 2.) '026 BZM'. That's on a former coworker's/ friend's 1970 Swinger 340. I'm planning to replicate it. 3.) '337 GBL'. That was my 1972 Dart's plate. Sold the car in 1999, and have lost track of it. I'll apply that one to any 1972 & earlier kit. 4.) '726 HYH'. Was on my 1973 Duster. Car's long gone (totalled in 1992 by a red light runner), but will vicariously live-on placed on the MPC 1973 Duster annual I've got to build (with legit TB3 blue paint for it) 5.) '101 JOV'. A friend's late-build 1973 Duster was festooned with that number ("J" is an overlap assignment: works on either a 1973 or 1974). That one's going on a 1974 Duster MPC annual. 'Best' will create any custom plates or instrument gauges/panels. Top quality stuff; very nice guy whose service is the absolute... um... best. -
I've ordered from this feller quite a few times, and have always been highly satisfied with his products. He does custom requests, too -- same price (very reasonable) as his 'in-stock' items. He hooked me up with an instrument panels/gauge set for my 1973-1974 Duster annuals; and now, California licence plates to my specs! Right down to the registration stickers -- he's quite knowledgeable about year-to-year variations, too! Here's the link to his eBay store. Don't hesitate to purchase his awesome items! bestmodelcarparts | eBay Stores

Should Round2 reissue the 1968 Coronet kit, I'd be willing to bet it'd be a new body, etc., with the 1968-1969 Road Runner/GTX chassis, etc., just like the 1970 Super Bee kit of yore. Not a bad move, really. Those two kits practically fall-together... horn-as-a-wiper-motor notwithstanding.

That ages-old (53 years old) MPC 1972 GTO is a hunka junk. An all-new 1970 GTO (Ram Air IV, please!) would be the better alternative. The AMT 1955 Chevy is another dinosaur. I'm not knocking it --and, perhaps, I'm thinking it's older than it is-- but lots of mods would be required to replicate the heavily-modified Two Lane Blacktop '55 coupe.

At the risk of swatting at the hornets' nest: the roof is terrible. It's one thing to peruse photos of the roof, and another thing to see that rascal in person. I can overlook any of the other proportion flaws (needn't recount them here), but that backlight-C-pillar-rear-roof area is just plain "Palmer" (there, I said it!). Eventually, I'll bash it with the AMT 1963 Nova Wagon. I'm waiting to see the outcome of Mr. Metallic's bash of the same two kits before I start slinging plastic.

Gorgeous colour, Mike! Fathom Green (or, approximations thereof) is an awesome shade of green, and looks right at home on your 'vette. Silly enquiry: did you clear the paint? I've encountered the same burn-through even with solid colours (most recent, TB3 Basin Street Blue [colloq., "Petty Blue"] on a Monogram Hemi 'Cuda -- actual factory colour, touch-up paint, aerosol). Keep up the GREAT work! That roof looks great!

Not to mention the deceased Richard Wright. With Mason being the only original member (Gilmour coming along to rescue the band after Syd checked-out), and Waters being... Waters... I'm not sure if the present lineup is truly The Pink Floyd Sound. I'm not stating that to disparage Gilmour and Mason; just making an observation. With that being said -- I've always loved this version of A Saucerful of Secrets, in its original title Massed Gadgets of Hercules ( "Rick's Rave-Up" and "Nick's Boogie" ) :

I've had the best results with both their grey and white fillers when applied over primer. -
To do a 'proper' convertible, a metric tonne of work is required. The cars' V.I.N.'s would tell the story: "23" is hardtop, "27" is convertible.

YES ! YES ! YES ! MSRP is spooky, but better'n bidding/buying on eBay. I hope that the pitch-black tinted 'glass' goes away...

Any Kits With Taillights Like These?
1972coronet replied to OldTrucker's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm not completely up on the LeMans-versus-GTO differences --- perhaps the Revell '66 GTO could serve as the base for LeMans lamps? -
That's a Revell-via-Monogram kit -- this is a Round2 thread. I'm just guessing (hoping) that the surprise Round2 kit will be a 1971-come-1972 Barracuda. Now, how about that 1970-1971-1972 Valiants in Duel ?

Considering its age --dates to the 1971 Duster 340 annual-- it's not all that bad. Accuracy issues? Plenty -- starting with the 4-speed trans & automatic console... 8.75" rear is, while incorrect after 1972, decent. Should you feel compelled to use the stock, kit-supplied chassis, watch for the offset front wheelbase. It's not too obvious upon a prima facie exam; but, once the front wheel assemblies are installed, the difference becomes quite apparent. Sometimes the MPC 1973-1975 Duster annuals (not the mislabelled 1983-issue Dodge Duster [MPC] nor the c.2003-issue of the 1975 Duster Hardtop [AMT/RC2] kits) pop up on eBay for a reasonable price, esp. built-ups. As far as the "pretty ugly green" colour: The 1970 Hamtramck Registry - 1973 Paint Chip Charts Slideshow (hamtramck-historical.com) . That's a 1973 chart, but the greens are the same for 1974.

Maybe Round2 is going to release the AMCs in The Man with the Golden Gun ! They have the licence [sic] for the Bond stuff after all, eh? Since their ostensible target audience is "65+", perhaps they could include a traveller's size bottle of Gold Bond -- a Nguyen-Win situation!
