  1. At least we have Tom Lowe on the side of the hobbyists' ; an obviously business savvy individual whom shares our love of this now-obscure hobby . That's definitely a GOOD sign . Bringing manufacturing BACK to the U.S. would be fantastic ---- if that happens ( Lord willing ) .
  2. 1970 Ford Police & Emergency Vehicles brochure : The Old Car Manual Project Brochure Collection (oldcarbrochures.org)
  3. I received the one which I'd ordered ( eBay seller ) , and I'm in love with it ! Like everyone else , I never thought that a stock version would see the light of day again ( been wanting one since seeing a stock one in Scale Auto Enthusiast back in 1987 ! ) . The only "complaint" I have ---and it's a petty one at that--- is the moulded-on exhaust . My plan is to install the L-79 / 4-speed from the AMT '66 Nova , with the AMT 1970 LT-1 / 4-speed from the '70 Z-28 a close-second ; maybe the 454 from the AMT '70 Baldwin-Motion Camaro... maybe . Keep 'em coming , Round2 !
  4. How about Vista del Camino ? A combination of Oldsmobile Vista and the obvious El Camino ---- "View of the Highway" or "View from the Highway" .
  5. You're welcome .
  6. Not that it matters terribly ; the Coronet Taxi pictured is a 1975-1976 model . The Coronet name was dropped after 1976 , replaced with the Monaco name ( B-Body platform ; the Royal Monaco was still a C-Body until its demise after 1977 ) . Additionally ; the car pictured also has 1978 & later hub cap on the right-rear wheel . Making the MPC 1977-1978 Monaco represent a taxi is an easy task , as the taxi shared the same interior as the police models (sans the Certified Speedometer -- unrecognisable in 1/25 scale ) which was a black rubber floor cover , and tan cloth & vinyl seats . Engines for the taxi were the 225-H.D. (backed with a 727) , or the 318-H.D (also with the 727) . Only police-spec models had the 360 two barrel , 360 high-perf , 400 two barrel , 400 high-perf , and the vaunted 440 high-perf .
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong ; the oil filler tube was likely eliminated due to emissions controls changes / revisions ( PCV in 1962 ; A.I.R. Pump , et al. , in 1966 ; and Evapourative Emissions in 1970 --- typically the so-called Cleaner Air Package , colloq. , 'California Emissions' ) .
  8. Some of those details need to be 'exaggerated' on the master so that they become 'normal' during the casting process . In essence , those T-Top would be faint on the casting if they were 'normal' on the master .
  9. Considering that AMT , MPC , and JoHan produced Promos , which later were sold as kits -- de facto unassembled Promos -- along with custom pieces and the such , the moulded-in components are an artifact of their origins . This was a common practise throughout the 70's ; 80's Promos-come-kits tend to have separate suspension , engine compartments , etc. ( think : MPC 1984 Corvette , 1988 Chevy 1500 , etc. ) . But , I agree -- there's no "good" reason for newer kits (other than snap-together or curbside) to have many --if any-- moulded-in / moulded-on details (esp. seats , consoles , and door panels) . Conversely ; it's nice to have a slew of oldies-but-goodies for a stress-free 'weekend' build (i.e. , don't sweat the gnat's arse details) .
  10. Perhaps a painting-order of : (1.) Red Oxide Primer (2.) Clear-Red 'colour' coat (3.) Dull Coat , if that's the finish you desire .
  11. I wonder if the 1971 GTX preceded the Road Runner in MPC's lineage ? The interior door panels are incorrect for a Road Runner , but are correct for a GTX ( and Satellite Sebring ) . The Monogram 1971 "Satellite" has the correct interior door panels ; the GTX from c.1994 , ad seq. , has the GTX pattern . If the interior tub from the 'Satellite' release is still around (e.g. , wasn't "irreverseably" modified) , then it'd be nice if Monogram were to create a 1971 440+6 Road Runner by using the original tub (or its door panel "slide-inserts") , the original dashboard (though , the 'GTX' emblem is easily removable) , and original steering wheel (it's in the latest F&F release) ; keep the GTX's Air Grabber , and engine compartment upgrades (i.e. , the firewall 'piece' with its wiper motor , etc.) , and a legit RM23V1 could be had . Another option would be for Round2 to employ the existing 1971 Charger R/T as the basis for a 1971 Road Runner --- new interior ; new R.R. body , etc. ; and , maybe , an A/C-delete pulley & belt arrangement .
  12. Guilty ! Haha ! I figure , Get 'em while you can ! I have the S&M Pro Stock Barracuda [Revell] , which is discontinued ; and the NicKey '67 Camaro [Revell] , which is also discontinued . Glad I got 'em when they were around... ...even if they sit for another 5+ years .
  13. I'm not up on full-sized Fords from that era... Given that the film was made in 1971 --- the newest cars in that film which I can recall are a couple of 1970 Coronet Taxi , the 1970-71Lincoln , and the 1971 LeMans 4-door hardtop .
  14. A certain popular video hosting site is rampant with ads ---- ads to the point where I yell at my phone or desktop ---- ads which ruin the flow of whatever I'm watching ---- ads for products which I will go out of my way to AVOID purchasing . The ones which I , um , encounter on this forum are oftentimes completely UN-related to anything I'm perusing on here . I agree with the sentiment that , Fill-in-the-blank-insurance-company-spends-an-incredible-amount-of-their-budget-on-asinine-ads . These same clowns fill the mailboxes every week ( I , too , want to hurt that stupid lizard thing ! ) with their tripe ; with landfill fodder . At least the plastic Save $100 NOW ! card-type mailers are good for use as putty-spreaders . I feel for the ones whom grew up during the transitional period , for they experienced freedom from bombardment advertising , then had to acquiesce to getting maced with ads at every turn . Then , there's the whole Pay to NOT have to get violated with ad nauseam ads ! sign up "offers" . It's money to be had which used to be covered by sponsors --- now it's money from sponsors AND money from those whom want to avoid being visually and aurally assaulted .
  15. I use Dupli-Color part number FP-102 ; I've also used 'knockoff' red oxide primers --- all have an adobe tone . They're more brown than red . Nice felines , by the way ?
  16. More brown than red . It's a great filler primer ("sandable") ; relatively-high-build , which is perfect for filling course scratches . Don't go crazy with applying it --- mask areas which you don't want it on .
  17. É um belo 1970 'Cuda! Essa cor 'In-Violet' é perfeita; e o cromo revisado é perfeito para escala 1/25. Mantenha esses carros maravilhosos chegando. Bem-vindo ao fórum !
  18. The more that I thought about it , I thought the same thing . It looks like a symmetrical piece after all... My assumptive-assertion was based upon the grille and its surrounding brightwork (not the grille cutout itself) appearing to be similar between the RS and the standard facia . I cannot attest to the 1:1 being that way ; I'm only comparing the kits' items . Mea culpa ; I'd neglected to mention the absence of the centre rub strip of the RS on the 'regular' grille .
  19. The full-bumper facia grille still has the Z/28 'cast' integrally : Photo: DSC 1119 | First Look - AMT (Round 2) 1970 1/2 "Full Bumper" Non-RS Camaro Z-28 album | Funman1712 | Fotki.com, photo and video sharing made easy. Other than the rub-strip , the grille appears to be the same regardless of RS or 'Standard' ; the bezel looks the same , too .
  20. That's got to be thee finest example of that kit that I've ever seen ! I've been tempted to buy the Lil Coffin (and the 'Medicine Van' , or whatever its name is) if for nothing other than the included mascot whom I refer to as "Skip" . That DeSoto Firedome looks quite similar to the one in the AMT kits of yore (e.g. , the 1953 F-100 , etc.) Keep up the great work !
  21. A photoetch set is likely the only recourse ---- if one's available .
  22. Is it just me , or are the scoops' leading ends off-centre ? Driver's-side looks longer than the passenger-side . The non-updated Windsor engine is disappointing ; similar to the undersized Chrysler LA Engine in the Dart Sport and Duster kits . An interesting aspect to the MPC 428 engine : it includes the Therm-Actor lines and tubing --- something that's sorely-lacking on the newer crop of Revell's 396 / 427 engines ( i.e. , the A.I.R. Pump plumbing ) .
  23. Lear Jet : The Byrds - 2-4-2 Fox Trot (The Lear Jet Song) [mono mix] - YouTube
  24. Man alive ! That is a sweet G-Bod ! Excellent work on that V10-come-V6 , too ---- looks factory ! That bonnet is awesome , too !
