  1. Thanks for the clarification and the info , @Rob Hall. The Pony certainly does resemble the Cortina in many ways !
  2. Back in late 1984 , mid 1985 , I read in Car & Driver that the Hyundai cars were comprised of old Mitsubishi knock-downs from the mid-70's . If that was truly the case , The Pony as replicated here , was in theory , early 60's Mitsubishi CKD's , no ? Looks like a great kit !
  3. That's entirely up to you . How often will the underside of the vehicles be seen ? Personally , incorrect transmissions , etc. , bother me as well (but only if I'm aware of the inaccuracy --- e.g. , the MPC 1971-1976 A-Body kits' small block / manual trans / console trifecta ! ) . The presence of the TH-350 transmissions in those kits date to the origins of those 1/8 scale series ( 1982 Camaro Z~28 , 1978 [?] Corvette ) ; only induction updates were executed (TPI vs. carburetors / Crossfire FI ) . Frankly , I'm surprised to find that the 1:1 Camaro was available with the 700-R-4 . I thought that the 200-4-R was the auto used behind the 305 and 350 in non-heavy-duty applications ( even the 305-powered Monte Carlo and the Buick G.N. used the 200-4-R ! )
  4. Harts Parts reproduces the MPC 1971 GTX / 1972 Road Runner standard bonnet ; they also offer a flat version . https://hartspartsresin.com/product/71-gtx-hood/
  5. Perfect ! Thanks much for posting that 1966 Chevelle interior -- it's splendid !
  6. I've seen the various bench seats -- 1970 Super Bee , 1967 GTX , 1971 Duster -- and have definitely considered them . The only problem (on my end) is that I'd be eliminating most of the work on the resin piece in order to add the correct upholstery pattern . I'll have to peruse Harts page again . Thanks for the heads up !
  7. Nice , outstanding WS23L9 , Tim !
  8. I'm right there with you ( though I'm not sure that a Hemi model would have that standard bonnet --- I'll have to look at Hamtramck Historical for a definitive ) . @justanothermopar : I'd like to suggest Tamiya Panel Line Accent for the door lines and other panels ( cowl vents , etc. ) --- even a fine line Sharpie would work --- to complement the black interior , and draw some attention from the V6R tail stripe . Looks lovely ne-er-the-less -- beautiful execution !
  9. Perfect ! Thanks much for mentioning the details (brackets) as well --- the devil's in the details . Do you have a standalone example of your semi-scratch-built bench seats ? Thanks much to all whom have chimed in here . The upgraded , all-vinyl with centre arm rest is definitely a 1973-1976 item . My 1:1 1973 Duster's interior was pretty gross when I got it . Even though I'm a smoker , that interior was disgusting ! There were burn marques everywhere , and it stunk like a thrift store / pool hall combo . The carpets were replaced with rubber mats from a 1971 Duster (junk yard) which were in perfect condition . The front seat was destroyed absolutely . I found a 1975 Dart sedan in the 'yard with a perfect black vinyl bench just like the one in the above photo . The only problem was , since it was from a 4 door , the seat back was fixed-in-place ( haha ) .
  10. Spectacular work ! Super nice 300hp 383 ! That thermostatic air cleaner is gorgeous on its own !
  11. I would like to see examples of a scratch built or partially-scratch built FRONT bench seat for the MPC 1971-1976 Duster & Dart Sport annual kits . It appears that the rear seat can be cut-away from a spare interior tub , and modified into a front bench --- anyone perform this modification ? Please share examples , and details of how you built your example . Thanks !
  12. The engine in the 1971 Charger represents a stock 440 Magnum . Yes , in-scale , this engine could be any 1970-1978 383 / 400 or 440 *in "real" life there is a difference between those displacements' engine families ; means nothing in-scale , however . That "383" engine looks quite lovely ! All it needs is a decal for the air cleaner lid which reads : "383 Road Runner Engine" . I must inquire , however , as to why you decided to scrap the A/C setup (?) . You've already got the correct bonnet for an A/C equipped car (the standard bonnet) , as the Air Grabber couldn't be had with A/C . Keep up the great work !
  13. I remember the article in Scale Auto some 12 or 13 years ago ---- I love it just as much today as I did back then ! Thanks for sharing it here .
  14. Looks GREAT , Tim ! I wasn't aware that the V4* top became an option in mid-year ; I'm used to seeing V1* tops . At least the standard strobe stripe could be had in-addition to a vinyl top by mid-year . FJ6 Sassy Grass is a lovely colour on 1970-1971 Plymouths . I believe that GJ3 "replaced" FJ6 in the "kitchen green" spectrum . I still have a Modelhaüs 1972 MPC Road Runner front bumper , grille , rear bumper , and tail lamps that I bought umpteen years ago , and two of the 1987-issue 1971 R.R.'s in my stash . Some day , one of them will be a 1972 440+6 Road Runner .
  15. I'll throw my hat in the ring as another one whom is reluctant to purchase a Moebius kit (other than the first-issue of the Model King 1969 F-100 , which thankfully isn't warped) . I , too , believe that it does come down to packing the contents ( *cough* mid-80's Monogram *cough* ) before the plastic cools. Add to that the too-small-boxes (really... how much more would a slightly-taller box cost ????) . I've put off buying any more of the F-Series pickups , any of the AWB Plymouths , or any of the Pontiacs because of the possibility of warped / damaged parts and their abhorrent replacement policies . I can't wait to see how your vision comes together here , Mike .
  16. 24.07.2018 live version of I Wasn't Born To Follow ( originally on Notorious Byrd Brothers and in the iconic 1969 film Easy Rider ) . The only original members of the band here are Roger Mc Guinn and Chris Hillman ; Marty Stuart is playing Clarence White's B-Bender guitar [ !!! ] . Pleasantly surprised that they replicated that "Psychedelic part" of the song , especially live .
  17. New photos of my feline superior . He's really growing ; almost 5 months old now ! I finally settled on naming him 'Tao' , which was his original name . It fits him well . I also call him 'Hunter' and 'Soldier' ; the latter because of his mannerisms and positions , as you'll see in the photos .
  18. I've heard nothing but good things about Mr. Schultz . That is so awesome that he not only replied , but also personalised and signed what you sent him , and he was cautious in sending it back to you in unblemished condition . Very cool !
  19. Another fine '57 from Herr Geoff is on its way ! I prefer the 150 and 210 coupes' less-embellished trim and such ; a sedate-but-colourful paint and interior will be the pop . I've got the Black Widow in my stash (Christmas gift from 10+ years ago) . I'm thinking of putting the AMT Pontiac 421 under its bonnet just to raise some brows . I'm looking forward to watching your '7 come together , Geoff !
  20. Were those Scottsdale decals in the kit ?
  21. That was my first thought , too . It's obviously not an acronym ( i.e. , 'Plastic , Leather , Acetate" or some such ) . Maybe it's in the description , but I can't rea that fine print .
  22. Your builds exhibit class : well thought out , well executed , and tasteful . Yes , I'm the one whom employed the 'Happy Meal Toys' assessment... ...there are always exceptions . I have seen some wonderful builds --in-scale and in "1:1"-- with over-15"-diametre wheels that are tastefully done .
  23. You are correct . Easier to change gearing ( just yank the pig , and replace it with one that's already set-up) . Then there's the lighter-weight consideration... And the 1964-1965 cars which had the 8 3/4 regardless of transmission . However , on a factory-stock , street (or drag) model , the Dana 60 was the only game . Automatic-equipped cars got a 4.10 Dana in lieu of the 3.91 geared 8 3/4 .
  24. I'll throw my wig into the fray --- 1956 is my favourite year for the so-called Tri-Five Chevys . That's followed by the 1955 ; 1957 is "last" (but , I do rather enjoy the less-embellished 150 and 210 coupes from the '57 model year) . My friend's dad has a '56 four door sedan Lowrider which he built in the 60's . Last time I saw it , it was still in the garage at their home in western Whittier... still wearing its Appleton's , organ pipe speakers , Bellflower Pipes , Craig 4-Track , and factory-original blue paint .
  25. Chris @hpiguydid a build-review of the GTI a couple of months ago ---- it's the ESCI kit in AMT clothing . Looks like a nice kit , regardless . Last time I saw one of the AMT Rabbit kits was in 1984 . It was at the J.C. Penny's on sale for 75 cents , which was a screaming deal , even 36 years ago . That kit built-up nicely as well .
