  1. Looking great ! That paint looks nice and deep . Don't forget : The transmission -- PowerFlite 2-speed -- is cast iron ( as is the TorqueFlite 3-speed , through 1961 ) .
  2. Nifty concept and execution ! Looks like something that was built in Brasil or S. Afrika for domestic consumption .
  3. Nothing special out here in California --- just the usual blue & gold , 6-character plates . I find it a bit odd that this state has thee most bland plates around ! Number one in car culture , and number 50 in plate designs... The Michigan '76 ( ad seq. through 1978 ) have been my favourites since seeing them in person (back in summer 1976) and in just about every AMT kit from that era .
  4. I'm surprised that you'd managed to eke 5 years' worth of daily driving out of that TX9 beauty . I remember my aunt's 1974 Caprice ( 4 door "Sports Sedan" ) and its rusty quarter panels . In 1976 -- I was 6 years old -- we were visiting family in Pennsylvania . The Caprice was parked in the driveway ; the rusty quarter panels were calling me to come check them out ( haha ) . I can still here my mum shouting from the porch , "Stay away from that car ! Don't touch that rust ! " , as flakes of the oxidised metal were falling on to the driveway . Two year old car with rust galore .
  5. Tamiya's grey primer is light-in-shade , and would be a good primer for most shades of oranges . What year Camaro are you building ?
  6. I wonder why some years are 'missing' from those sites' offerings ? Michigan '76 is my favourite , yet no one has that style . California blue & gold ( 1970 - 1986 ) are also a no-go . @Ramfins59 , what state's plates are you going to customise ?
  7. Looks luxurious and inviting , Steve ! How do you affix the front seats ?
  8. The most-recent Pepper Shaker version has most --if not all-- of those customising parts restored ( sans the sticky-backed upholstery sheet ) .
  9. Outstanding RM21L4 , Tim ! It's too bad about the decals ; I was actually planning on a TB3 Basin Street Blue with red stripes version . For whatever reason , 1973-1974 two door Satellite / Road Runners had fixed quarter glass ( body style '21' ) unless power windows were ordered . Cost-cutting move ? A former customer at the parts store where I worked has a 1974 Road Runner which he ordered new as well . It's Silver Frost with black interior ; standard 318 (factory dual exhaust for '73 - '74 ) with a 4-speed . Non-assist disc brakes ( standard ) ; power steering ; AM/FM radio ; 3.21 Sure Grip . Beautiful car which was lovingly restored .
  10. Exactly . "Bounce the rock , and catch the ball ; bound to fall..." .
  11. 2013 article about the then-recently-restored Grumpy's Toy X , which includes a nice shot of its 331" engine : https://www.dragzine.com/features/pri-coverage/pri-2013-bill-jenkins-restored-grumpys-toy-x-pro-stock-vega/
  12. Turquoise is an excellent choice for this velvet hammer ! The red stripe gives it a nice psychedelic edge --- perfection !
  13. Walter "Waldo" Lure (22.04.1949 - 22.08.2020) . He was the last surviving member of Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers ( one of thee premiere R&R bands during the 'Punk' --- a title which Thunders despised --- era ) . The band's infamy started in NYC in 1975 , and was further fuelled by an invitation to London in 1976 for the ill-fated Anarchy Tour . Walter cleaned-up his act , having worked on Wall Street --- while playing a dichotomy role as the guitarist of one of the most infamous bands ever . Here's a photo ( Leee Black Childers work ?) from The Speakeasy club , 1977 :
  14. Just go to the 'Library' link . The 1970-1974 brochures are the default ; one may go to 1975-1979 ; 1965-1969 , sub seq. , from there .
  15. A 1971 Charger S.E. with a 440 / 4-speed had to have been a 'tough-sell' in hotter climates ---- couldn't get A/C with that combination (though I do wonder why the 3.54 geared Dana 60 couldn't 'facilitate' the A/C option... after all , an auto with 3.55 gear could be had with A/C . Likely a concession to overrevving the engine and grenading that York RV-2 compressor ? ). I , too , prefer an unembellished car . I frequently fantasise about being able to order a , say , 1970 Swinger 340 ; base interior ( I love rubber floor mats ! ) ; column-shift 727 ; Sure Grip with the standard 3.23 ; A/C ; radio (upgraded to a factory AM/FM from a '69 model) ; disc brakes ; standard steering (Chrysler's power steering was overboosted as heck) . It'd be white , with blue interior and a blue painted roof ; stripe-delete ; W11 Deluxe Wheel Covers .
  16. You're quite welcome. Keep that Hamtramck Historical reference in-mind . It's a priceless resource . However , should you feel like proposing any queries about Mopars here , please do ! Helps keep my brain sharp .
  17. The only flat bonnet , performance-oriented E-Body I've seen in all of my 50 years , was a 1974 Barracuda with the 360 . They're rare as hen's teeth ! Its V.I.N. was BH23L4B ; it was green-green-green (typical colours for that era) . Another "oddball" I've seen in person was a 1971 Charger S.E. with a 440 Magnum ( WP29U1E ) . Perhaps more unusual : its Scheduled Production Date was "209" ---- the day of the 1971 Sylmar ( Los Angeles suburb ) Earthquake . The 340 was Chrysler's BEST all-around performance engine : light-weight , high-revving , and not a gas hog . The 383 was / is fine in intermediate and larger cars ---- even though by 1971 it was emasculated greatly ( newer heads , and new pistons with a 'White Gas' compression ratio . Same cam specs , but all were rated at 300hp (not sure how much the torque suffered) in high-perf livery . At least that engine went-out with an unblemished history --- retained its forged crank until the end . The 360 in 'E58' form was a torque monster . Longer-stroke than the B-Engine ( 400 cubes ) !
  18. Here's a 1970 hardtop JH23N0E --- note its flat bonnet : https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1970/dodge/challenger/101283043 Non-stock exhaust , even though the plain rear valance is correct ( e.g. , was not equipped with the tail pipe embellishments ( N42 ) that're commonly added ) . Additionally ; I don't see the sales code for Noise Reduction ( N97 ) , which usually accompanies unfettered exhaust tips ( N41 ) , but that's a California model 'exclusive' (I've lost count on how many cars that are "restored to factory specs" , but have the added 'out-of-state' exhaust ) .
  19. That's why I put "R/T" in quotes . The closest one could get to a 1971 Challenger R/T convertible was by ordering all of the R/T's items separately ( heavy duty suspension , etc. ) , with the only provision being that the 300hp 383 was the top engine choice (the 340 was better anyhow , esp. by 1971) .
  20. Exactly . That's why I'd posted that link to Hamtramck Historical 1970 Dodge Challenger brochure . There was also the A66 Challenger 340 Package ( JH23H and JH27H ) . The difference between the 330hp and 335hp 383 engines is the cam specs. ... matter of fact , even the 'Road Runner 383' got the milder cam when A/C was ordered .
  21. Even just regular Paint letter "A" paint "guides" bother me . Revell went that route (plus around 3-4 pages of parts callouts --- an utter waste of space IMO) with the "lettered" painting some years ago , and it bugs the ________________ out of me ! Not so much for subjects that I'm familiar with ( e.g. , Muscle Cars from the classic era ) , but for the vehicles that I'm not as hip to . While I understand that Revell and AMT ( et alia ) have a larger market --a global market-- to which they felt compelled to print their instructions in other languages ( not a thing wrong with that --- "When in Rome..." ) , I would be remiss if I'd neglected to mention that , They had it "right" in the 90's .
  22. How about the wheels from the Revell 1969 Yenko Nova 427 ?
  23. I agree completely . Something about double-edged swords and the such... or is it , "Live by the sword..." ?
