  1. There's some cool stuff here for sure ! This is one of my last pieces ( 10 years ago ) :
  2. Man alive ! That is SWEET !
  3. Outstanding ! Such a clean build ; love the extensive modifications you've done ---- looks like that paint is miles-deep ! Keep up the fantastic work !
  4. That makes sense , as that engine represents the Super Duty 421 . 389-400-421-428-455 are the same block --- I'm sure that some Pontiac specialist will correct my potentially-errorneous information --- for all intents and purposes ( or maybe the 389 is a shorter-deck ? Nothing noticeable in-scale ) .
  5. The windscreen and backlight components in AMT kits of this era SUCK . Firstly , they're undersized around their perimetre ; secondly , they have HUGE "extensions" in the cowl-area which impede final assembly , and ; thirdly , the quarter lights / windows are out-of-shape and-or undersized . The first time I built the 1971 Duster 340 , I almost stomped on it because its fitment issues were getting the better of my Celtic "patience" . After I'd discovered that the inside of the doors' area --inside of the body-- required a good filing ( their thickness prevents the upper door of the interior-side from properly settling in-place ) , I noticed the undersized windscreen . Then the quarter windows didn't want to fit without a tonne of fudging . Five flippin' months later , I finally had it assembled . However , I'm a glutton for punishment : 1971 Charger R/T . Another close-to-being-smashed kit . The fitment issue with it is its windscreen , and that "BLAH-BLAH-BLAH" under-cowl 'extension' . ARRG ! I sanded it until that ridiculous "embellishment" was tissue-thin . Problem... solved ? YES ! Then the decals --- another story for another time . I'd begin by doing as I did with the '71 Charger windscreen : sand the ever loving poop out of it until it's tissue-thin . That should remedy the front clip / cowl firewall fitment issue. Another option : buy a sheet of Evergreen (et alia) clear plastic , and make a new windscreen .
  6. Looks great , Steve ! I especially like the Slim Jim conversion ( I'd forgotten just how wide the oil pan is on those early automatics ! ) . Speaking of oil pans --- is it just me , or does that stock 'pan look like a modified-sump version of the stock one ? I'm citing the emulated welding laps around its perimetre and across its sump . And , those Rochester carburetors are fantastique !
  7. Has anyone tried those Email Colours paints ? If so , how do they compare with the Teletype Lacquers of yesteryear ?
  8. Thanks , guys ! I wasn't even aware of such an animal until now ! I remember the Fury , but that's it . Maybe I did see the 'Ram Blur' , and dismissed it because of its c.1994-1997 artwork and customising touches .
  9. The last time I had one of those (yucky) MPC 1971-1973 Mustang kits was the c.1986 reissue ( 1971 BOSS 351 ) ---- back in 1987 . I never got close to finishing it ; just a lump o' dung . I used its engines in other projects , and its wheels on another . I drove my friend's 1972 Mach 1 from Riverside to Gardena ( one end of the 91 freeway to the other end ) . It ran quite good ; lots of power from its 2Bbl Cleveland . Soon as we got to his dad's house in Gardena , the thing boiled-over , puking coolant all over the driveway ----- temp gauge didn't indicate its running hot (?!?) . My friend's dad came unglued , admonishing my friend in Japanese ! Haha ! After the harangue , his dad turned to me , bowed , then apologised --in English-- for the "show" .
  10. That's a beauty ! Now I remember your modifying one ---- a Johan piece , no ?
  11. I'm yet to experience the silver ordeal... Well , the 1 mm pen did start producing silver on its last run .
  12. Haha ! I've just been lucky I suppose . I get more frustrated with BMF --- quality's gone downhill for some years now...
  13. An all-new 1971 BOSS 351 ( 429 SCJ option ? ) with period-correct aftermarket speed equipment would be quite nice . Heck , throw-in a 1973 fascia for those whom wish to build the original Elanor !
  14. Looks great @StevenGuthmiller ! Refresh my memory : did you find a "Slim Jim" for it ?
  15. The first one I'd purchased -- the 1 millimetre pen -- two years ago finally ran-out of ink . I have a 4 millimetre pen that I bought a year ago , and it still does its job with zero issues . I store them business-end-down ; I shake them vigorously before use ; dab the tip on a piece of scrap paper ; then go to town . Where are you storing yours ? High humidity ? Natural light exposure ? Hot or cool area ?
  16. I concur --- sales-potential is greater than with the earlier Dodge stuff (and this is coming from a life-long MoPar fanatic !) . GMC variations of those years would be excellent as well (not holding out hope for a '67-'68 GMC with the 351 V6 however... ) . In the meantime , I'm contented with the Round2 1978 D-100 longbed --- that kit's existence is no small miracle , either .
  17. May I recommend cleaning-out the panel lines before you re-prime . re-spray . I use a dental plaque / pique tool (pharmacies in the U.S. sell them ; can't imagine that your locale would be different ) .
  18. Other than the (frustrating) scuff on the rear bumper , that assembly looks quite nice ---- look at those tail lamp buckets' details ! Chris ( hpiguy , et alia ) built one (already posted in this thread) , and it looks like a wonderful kit . He didn't mention any issues with fitment nor with assembly ; how's the fit on your example ?
  19. I like that green-green Formula Firebird ! Am I seeing things , or is that bad boy sans radio ?
  20. Permit for me to apologise --- my comment , in retrospect , was unnecessary . Instead , I should have said to the effect : " Thanks for sharing that link . Excellent photos and article . " . I let emotion get the better of me (haha) .
  21. Potentially nice article ruined by those "BLAH-BLAH-BLAH" water-marques from Bhotopucket !
  22. Looks like the endcap / tail lamp assembly is too upright .
  23. Looks great so far ! Too bad that there's an issue with the fitment of the interior's rear-quarters ; however , at least there was too much material vs. having to fabricate additional materials to fill the void . AMT's 1990's kits all have ride height problems . Not sure why --- they all take some level of adjusting-from-stock to sit proper . [ EDIT ] Not to mention the sub-sized windscreen and backlight assemblies .
  24. Cool subject matter , but doubtful it'd sell . Now , about that Nova in the background with all its Hurst livery... And , yes to the Grand Prix / Hurst !
