Beautiful Buick brawler ! Appears spot-on ; a wonderfully-executed period piece . Reminds me of the kinds of cars I'd see on Whittier Boulevard / Bob's Big Boy back in the 70's - c.1982 . I've always loved the stylling touches of the Buick A-bodies (right up there with Oldsmobiles of the same era) , and the 1970-1972 are prime examples ; your vision brings it home .

^LUV Backlight & Cab "Backside"

That plastic is definitely nothing I've ever worked with before . It's an odd combination of rubbery and fragile ! Obviously , the kit can be built , as witnessed by the handful of samples I've seen . I put the kit away until I can figure what to do with that backlight --- maybe a "roll your own" from Evergreen Clear is in order... -
Beautiful build ! Perfect ride height ; perfect colour scheme .

Thanks for the corrected information . I did not know that it was M.D. -

Last go I'd attempted with that sabre tooth kit was 30 years ago . Never even finished it ; one of the few kits that I actually threw-away in its entirety ! Assembling that thing is like trying to set stones in a watch using your butt cheeks ! -
I'd set off to build the Monogram LUV yesterday , but was almost immediately stopped in my tracks . I was configuring the cab back panel ; test-fitting it before tacking it in-place with CA glue . Then it hit me : Check the fitment of the backlight before gluing the panel in ! Glad that I did , as the backlight doesn't fit in its recessed mounting area ! I scraped , filed , etc. , the recessed area to make certain that there weren't any buggers to hinder its fitment . Then I dry-fitted the backlight , and it was a no-go . I carefully filed and sanded the top of the backlight , and the stupid thing still didn't want to fit properly . Anyone else encounter this issue ? If so , how did you rectify the fitment issue ?

Those Muncie shifters were notorious for being , let's say , not racer friendly . IIRC , the Muncie stick even *looked* like a Hurst , right down to the font and lettering . The correct OEM shifter for the '67 Supernatural can be found in the Revell '66 Chevelle Wagon kit. That's good to know , as I was planning to convert that kit to a small block / P-Glide .
-
Is it just me , or is the shifter for the 4-speed missing in this iteration ? I recognise the column-shift for the automatic ( TH-400 ? Powerglide ? ) , but no Muncie (Hurst ?) . I'll either parts box a shifter , and make a 325hp 396 / 4-speed ( a legit option for the 4 door according to the brochure) *or* use the 396 / TH-400 from the El Camino .

The Byrds BEST album in my opinion . Last album with Crosby (he was fired in late 1967) . Early use of the then-new Moog synthesiser . The mono mix is preferable , of course .

AMT Ford Courier Pickup. Any good?

1981 Ford Courier Brochure ( note the Free Wheelin' Bob Dylan Package as mentioned by @Casey ) http://oldcarbrochures.org/United States/Ford Motor Company Trucks-Vans/1981_Trucks-Vans/1981-Ford-Courier-Brochure/slides/1981_Ford_Courier-04-05.html -

A set of stock wheel covers would be great , too (though I suppose that the wheel covers from the E-150 would "suffice" ) . -
Here's a breakdown of year-by-year for the 340 : 1968 = Chrysler Engine Red 1969 = Chrysler Engine Turquoise ** 1970 = Chrysler Engine Orange 1971 = Chrysler Engine Orange ( through ~ April 1971 , when the colour was changed to the "1972 Blue" ) 1972 = Chrysler Engine Blue 1973 = Chrysler Engine Blue ** The 1969 340 engines' colour depended-upon two things : (1) Some early-production Darts and Barracudas had "leftover" red engines ; (2) Some late-production Darts and Barracudas had "early" engine orange engines , and ; (3) Assembly plant location . Los Angeles for example produced some red 340 powered cars as late as December 1968 . The majority of 1969 340s were Chrysler Turquoise --- that's the safest bet when building a 1969 Dart or Barracuda .
-
The 340 was orange from 1970 - c.May 1971 . You may paint the engine "1972 Blue" and call it a late-1971 model .
-
Thanks for the clarification(s) , @Snake45 and @Daddyfink .
-
Two different paint schemes on "X" ? Was that a mid-year change ? The red & white version appears to have a Mark IV engine ( the gold anodised rocker arm covers are big like the 396-427-454 ) ---- I didn't know that Grumpy ran a big block anything after 1969 (?) ** It also appears to have aluminium heads --- is that an L-88 in that bad boy ?
-
How is its colour wrong ? It looks like TB3 Corporate Blue , which would be a special order colour prior to 1972 ( its origins date to 1962 ; however , it wasn't until 1972 that it was re-released as Basin Street Blue [Plymouth] and Super Blue [Dodge] ) .
-
Exactly . I'd neglected to mention that kit as it seemed redundant ( Mark IV engine with TH-400 trans ) , but in retrospect , I should have ( not everyone is aware of the Monte's engine / trans. ). Heck , one can even swap the 427 / 4-speed into the 'Carlo , and make one of the extremely rare 402 / 4-speed models out of it .
-
I can see those nice spot lights finding their way onto the 1977 / 1978 Monaco ( and other applications ) . Now , about that steering column and its shift lever... The kit still includes the 427 / 4 speed . I wonder if the 396 / TH-400 from the '68 El Camino would fit ?
-
WHOA ! 1980's MPC , indeed ( haha ! ) . That its self isn't too bad as long as the odour of the plastic is fond-memories-evoking ( I'm inside Skaggs Alpha-Beta on Saturday morning , perusing the toy aisle for the latest MPC offerings... ) . Personally , that flash isn't a deterrent . I'll still buy one or five anyhow !
-
Perhaps it's just me , but that "flash" looks like black electrical tape ---- like Jesse is using it to tape the body to the green cutting board in order to stage it for photos . Conversely , it does appear that there may be some along the underside of the rain gutters (?)
-
Looks like a winner ! Great basis for a Sports Sedan with a 396 4-speed (just need easily-sourced stock wheels) .
-
I really like that VL29 ! It reminds me of one that I read about over 20 years ago ; a clean , 225-powered '73 Duster which was converted to a 426 / 727 column-shift ; it was green-on-green like this car . Given the odds of someone building a Hemi-powered Duster out of a green / green example , from Ohio , and keeping its interior stock --- this has to be the same car , with some tasteful upgrades . ( bonus : no white-face gauges ! )

A few new Round 2 kit coming out ......
1972coronet replied to Mr mopar's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I can't remember the last time the {{{ gulp }}} Fleetside {{{ gulp }}} version was last released . The {{{ gulp }}} Flairside {{{ gulp }}} was the last iteration I remember seeing ( c.1997 ) . Oddly , I've never purchased nor built any version of AMT's Courier . Not sure as to why --- I'd built countless copies of the F-350 ( 250 ? ) over the years , always in two-wheel-drive form . I'll definitely have to pick up ( no pun intended ) one or two of this kit ! -
Beautiful 4-4-2 ! The '66-'67 Olds A-bodies are works of art ; your example exemplifies this to a 'T' .
