Tom Metzner - Thanks for the info regarding how these "proofs" were made ! That whole computerised-CNC-machined deal is such a sweet invention . First time I saw a product made in that fashion , I couldn't believe it ! My cousin had some golf Putter 'alignment-shot' deals made from "CNC-Printed" plastic . I had to ask him repeatedly to confirm that the tools were , indeed , "printed" ! Absolutely amazing stuff

I'm gonna guess that it's the acrylic clear that chemically-reacted poorly with the decal . An enamel or lacquer clear *most-likely* wouldn't have reacted as such , The 3-day wait to clear was the right thing to do .

I'm going to buy a Volt and swap a 8v71 Detroit into it .

Michael , that is very nice work ! I am looking forward to following your progress ; excellent modifications so far . I am not certain if that Ford 9 inch axle would hold-up to the power output of that 427 Cammer . It is not a very popular choice for customisers and race cars . Say , are those brake pistons that you are using to prop-up your kit ?

Congratulations on your build and its likeness' contribution to the box art , Tom ! Your version is gorgeous ; and that photoshopped pic of your canine companion tops it all of nicely ! As a side note , in regard to the chrome : have you ever utilised the aerosol "chrome" paint ? The results are , in my opinion , superior to Alclad (not knocking Alclad ; it's a fine product !) . I've used it on a few of my kits since I bought a can of it at work some years back . While I *typically* give a gloss black base coat , it actually works just as well over an aluminum (dull) base , a steel base (dull or shiny) , a silver base (finish doesn't matter) , and , believe it or not , Chrome Yellow ! Its part number is CS-101. Congrats , again , to you and the other builders ! :) :)

My absolute favourite aspect of the late '66 - '7? (and the Econoline , for that matter) is the hub caps' design ! I long ago dubbed them the "crown hubcaps" when I was young ; and I still love that design to this very day ! I share the same passion for the Dodge '69-'75 hub caps , and the c.1967-c.1974 Chevy / GMC deluxe wheel covers (think: the 'covers in the old MPC Cheyanne Pickup / AMT 1972 GMC High Sierra ). Good call on that 6 popper for the F-100's ! I hope that *both* kits include *both* engines --and separate transmissions-- in them !

VERY nice !!! If the tooling 'proofs' look this nice , I can only imagine that the finalised products will be stunning !! Is the engine in that final pic supposed to represent the "385 Series" ( 429 / 460 ) or the "FE Series" ( 352 / 360 / 390 ) ; or is it perhaps a "335 Series" (351C / 351M / 400) ? Looks great no matter what . Thanks for sharing !

I've wanted the Mercury Monarch kit since March 1976 ! My parents bought a then-new 1976 Monarch Ghia 2 door (351W , etc.) . In the dealer's parts dept was a group of Promos and a set of the Lindberg 32nd scale kit ! Of course , at 6 years old , I couldn't have possibly cared less about the kits' accuracies

I hope that the 1/32 scale moulds / tooling still exist , as I'd love to see those "oddball" '73-'77 G.M. Colonnade A-bodies and the even more obscure 1975-1977 Granada / Monarch !

I've always had a thing for the 914 ! Can't wait to see how yours is going to turn out ! Scariest ride I've ever been in was a 1970 914 with a 327 / 4-speed (the latter from a 930 or something) . Just plain nuts ! Ran like a striped ape and handelled like it was on rails ! Had to pull me britches from my posterior after the ride ended !

That's a groovy Dodge , Jason ! If not for its Dominator-esque carbs , it'd pass for a then-new A/FX car (the 426 Hemi was intro'ed in mid-1964 as the replacement for the 426 Wedge) . '64 was also the first year for the world-reknowned A-833 4-speed !

The *closest* ones are in the AMT "Dirty Donny" Chevy Van ; but , they're representative of the c.1970-c.1979 "coned" hub caps .

Is it just me , or is there only stock wheels for this kit (i.e. , no custom wheels) ?? If so , I hope that Round2 would have the foresight to add the wheels (Ansen Sprints) and tyres from the 1977 Smokey Convoy Chaser to their reissue .

I've been pining for one of these coveted MPC 1971 Demon kits since I first saw one in 1975 (!!) . One of my friend's older brothers had one ; it was built and on display , and when I saw its box , I was in love ! I'd kinda forgotten about the kit until c.1987 , when I saw it in the Plastic For Sale section in S.A.E. Asking prices for the kit at *that* time were in the $25.00 - $50.00 range (entirely too much for a 17 year old to afford !). I can't wait for this kit to finally be reissued ! No more outrageous , stupid prices for a 25th scale kit ( I mean , jeez , I gave $70.00 for a 1:1 1973 Duster in 1992 !!). Perhaps I'll buy a case of 'em ! I'll definitely have to buy a load of the '75-'76 Dart Sport kits , as those will be discontinued after a short "one run of fun"...

Alan , I love your '75 Sport ! I've seen it before , and I never get tired of seeing it ! I , too , have a promo Sport : a 1975 , also in Y1 Blaze Yellow ! Bought it back in '91 at a swap meet for five dollars . It's in perfect condition ; however , its original box was gone when I bought the promo (no big deal to me !). I still have to buy a set or two of those gorgeous 1972-1976 Dodge W11 Deluxe Wheel Covers from Missing Link !

I like the R/T decals on that Demon , Allen ! Reminds me of something one would see in Brasil or Mexico ( and , believe me , I mean that in the most complimentery way ! It looks great !). The wheels on your Duster look righteous ! Love its interior , too ! Keep up the great work ! Let's see some more builds , guys

He's my all-time favourite Stuntman ! He's been doing stunts since the 40's or 50's ; he was close friends with James Dean , and was with him when Dean died in that infamous crash . He certainly did drive that '71 LeMans in French Connection ; and as you've stated , he played the part of one of the cops in said film. ___________________ Keep up that great work , Michael !

I can hardly wait for the up-coming reissue of the MPC 1975-1976 Dart Sport and the backdated MPC 1971 Demon 340 from Round2 !! I would love to see some of my fellow forum members' builds of these gems ; the more the better ! Also , please describe in detail what modifications you've performed (kitbashing , etc.) , how old your build is (e.g. , built back in 1971 or 1976 , or whatever) , and what --if any-- resources you've employed for your build(s) (factory brochures , photos of originals / modifieds , etc.).
