Looks like Revell-Monogram is going to hit another bases-loaded home run ! I've always really liked the late 50's Fords . If a Ranchero and or Ranch Wagon is made off of this mould , I'll just burst !! Can't hardly wait for this kit to hit the shelves !

Need some Mopar Po-Leece dog dish hubcaps
1972coronet replied to Bonekrosha's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
"Police [Hub] Caps" is a bit vague ; Chrysler's "A38" Police Package cars were more-often-than-not equipped with the strip-o hub caps . I'm going to assume that you're referring to the infamous 1977-1989 versions . No one , to the best of my knowledge , makes these highly-desirable hub caps (the 1977-1989 "vented" caps) in any scale . However , I can't see them as being terribly difficult to scratch-build in 1/16 scale . -
Is this the kit from the new AMT school-of-thought ( i.e. , the 90's ) , or is it the "bastard" version ( i.e. , the half MPC Annual / half AMT parts ) ??

A Dodge Charger for a chosen few, or lets roll with the CHP.
1972coronet replied to Agent G's topic in Model Cars
Great work on that Slick-Top A38* Charger ! Living in the demographic that I reside in , I see a couple of these around , patrolling I-15E , CA 60 toward its terminus , I-10 / US 60-70-99 , and some other spots . * = I know that Chrysler's police package cars haven't been determined "A38" in many years , but I continue to call 'em just that ! -
I've always had a soft spot for the '70.5 - '77 Camaro (and the '70.5 - '76 Firebird) , ever since they were new ! Your build is gorgeous , Bruno !

AMC Gremlin Drag Car. Update 9-11-12
1972coronet replied to cobraman's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I just bought one of these last week , and am looking forward to building it . I'm going to mention only the positive aspects of this reissue : - Two sets of 'glass' (love the option of tinted !) ; - Gorgeous drag slicks ; - Nice decal set ; - Building options ; - It's not a $100.00+ ebay purchase !! I'm thinking of building it with the "Go Package" 4 Bbl setup , the headers , the "functional" Thrush side pipes , custom wheels ( maybe the kit's Cragar S/S , but am not sure) and a mild custom colour ; and yes , those tombstone seats will have to go ! -
How common or uncommon was a 'Three-on-the-Tree' / V8 / Four Wheel Drive combo in the 1:1 realm ? One of the nicest pieces in this kit is the clear-cast tail light lenses ! No silver or white painted backup light lenses ! When I built multiples of the Monogram 70's Chevy / GMC back in the 70's and 80's , I'd glue the cab's back panel into place prior to installing the interior and I never had a problem . I'd imagine that using the more common plain wheels / hubcaps combo (available from at least one of the resin casters) would hide the incorrect 6 or 8 lug pattern . I used to hand-paint the missing fender emblems on each of my builds of these Chevy / GMC variants ! My hand used to be rock-steady , and my mind clear of unnecessary thoughts .

Super clean slammer , Low-N-Slow ! That thing is so clean ; its brightwork is nice and shiny . Blue's my favourite colour , by the way .

Long Hauler 379 - 119

Jaroslav - Your work is outstanding ! This is the first time I have perused the Big Rigs Forum , and am impressed with what I have seen overall , but am even more impressed with your build in particular . I will definitely be following your excellent work (and the works of our fellow builders around here) . P.S. "Plastic People of the Universe" vis-a-vis The Velvet Revolution ! -
Not a critique , but rather an inquiry : didn't the SS (1973 only) and Laguna S3 models have round gauges ? I could almost swear that the 1973 SS 454 ( "W" engine code ) that I saw a while back had gauges which were similar tot he '70-'72 SS models . That interior is mighty fine ! Those seats are NICE !

Thank you ,Fat Brian , for that detailled reply ! I didn't realise that the so-called "385-Series" (429/460) wasn't a "regular" engine until 1971 ; and it makes sense that the Ford-Edsel series (352 , ad seq.) would be used through 1970 . By the way , I love the way that FoMoCo *used to* i.d. their parts ! It was so easy to recognise what era a part originated from. For example : "A"=1940's , "B"=1950's , "C"=1960's , "D"=1970's , "E"=1980's , and "F"=1990's (through 1998) .

Thanks again for your input , Terry . I'd mentioned the "360" for the same reasons you've stated ; it's a "generic" AMC engine in scale I wonder about the Randall "X" and their 401's... Those *had* to be A/MP ! I also wonder if Randall ever installed 360's in Gremlins ?

Revell '50 Oldsmobile Club Coupe 2'n1
1972coronet replied to styromaniac's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I am quite looking forward to this kit . Whether or not it's accurate is of little consequence to me ; I just like the body style , and of course , that Rocket engine ! I'm thinking that an early 60's Lowrider is in order , as well as a Gasser . -
That makes sense ; I'd figured that the Gremlin was within the same weight class as the Chrysler "A" bodies .
-
iBorg , Thanks much for your input ! Very helpful . tbusch , I forgot about Super Modified for some reason . Thanks for the idea ! Terry Sumner, Excellent info ! Thanks for providing the power-to-weight rules / classes ! Thanks again to all for your guidance and info ! This will undoubtedly come in handy for others as well
-
Thanks to both of you ! I'd *figured* that a Modified Production build was possible ; I'm just not sure what sub-class (?) it would run in (e.g. , C/MP , ad seq.)

Carter Thermoquads ?

I finally got around to buying the AMT 1976 Gremlin and am wanting to build it to represent a homegrown race car ; however , I don't know just what class to build it for . I'm wanting to build it as a Modified Production , but am not sure if it's conducive of that class ; and if it *is* , then what would a 304 / 360 with auto qualify as (e.g. , C/MP , D/MP , or ??? ) . Would a more-realistic approach be to build it as a Super Stock ( SS/KA ?) or a "Stock" ( J/SA ?) car ? Thanks for your replies

Nice detail work , Dominik ! These 2-door "B-Body" Monaco and Fury (and their 4-door counterparts) actually were used by some states' highway patrol agencies in the mid-late 70's ( Montana and Wyoming , and perhaps others ) . They were powered by a 400 (~6.5 litre) engine which put out ~255-to-265 horsepower ; this was backed by a heavy duty automatic ; they were sans emissions controls , as they instead had a computerised engine management system ( "Electronic Lean Burn" ) . Again , nice work !

Another tasty timepiece , holmes !

Super nice 'scraper ! With the colourscheme you've chosen , reminds me of how popular Earth tones were back when I was a kid ; lots of browns and whatnot on 'riders back in the 70's in Whittier / Los Angeles . Great build , bradah !
