  1. You're right I failed my *own* test here , too . Well , I was , afterall , more intrigued by the beautiful pics of your gorgeous engine , that I totally glossed-over the accompyning text
  2. the test shot hood does look "over-done" with exaggerated proportions , but it *is* simply a prototype . Who knows ; maybe it's done like that on purpose ? Perhaps Revell took paint-thickness into consideration ? Given the current direction that Revell has taken with its new(est) products , I'm going to give them the benefit-of-the-doubt regarding the massaging of the hood's proportions .
  3. I couldn't --at the time-- find a section that my inquiry would seem proper in , so I just chose "General" . I'll keep your suggestion in mind for next time . That is gorgeous ! Not sure how I missed it the first time through that section ; perhaps all of those acronymns in the thread's title bothered me or something .
  4. Until I saw the engine that Len and Bill were building , I thought that Revell had messed up by putting an alternator in place of the generator (e.g. , I thought that being presented as being a factory-stock piece by Revell) .
  5. I think that the most difficult part of adding a vinyl roof to a hardtop would be making of the trim for the "C" pillar and Sailpanel . The top's material is naturally going to be flat , just as in the 1:1 world ! Has there ever been a case where a kit manufacturer included separate trim for a vinyl top option ? I think that that would be a viable idea , just like the separate side trim "spears" on the Revell 1958 Impala . As far as the seams on the roof , I believe that simply overlapping the decal sections would be convincing enough , no ? That's how it's done in the 1:1 realm
  6. I'd like to see some 1960's --and even early 1970's-- Lowriders , sil vous plait . I must admit that I'm no fan of Daytons ; they're too common and *boring* to me . I prefer Cragar S/S , Appletons , Chrome-reverse , Astro Supremes , and the like ; Lancer "Spinners" are cool , too . I've seen quite a few stunning "boulevard bouncers" on here . I grew up in west Whittier , so I used to see A LOT of Lowriders when I was a kid . Their paintjobs , their stance , their custom touches , all used to delight me ; and as a visual artist , they influenced my work immensely ! Let me see your Organ Pipe Speakers , metal flake paint , chain steeringwheel beauties !
  7. Sectioned and Channelled , too ? For some reason , I'm picturing a "raked" channell on this one ... Looking forward to watching your progress
  8. S'cool Bus !!! I've been wanting to build that again ; I had it back in circa 1976 , and at 6 years old , I couldn't finish building it . Also , isn't the Vandal schedulled for release this year ? That ZL-1 Camaro (?) is going to end up in my collection as well (still have to buy one of the COPO Nova kits ...) . Thanks much for sharing this with us , Doc ! KUDOS to Revell !!
  9. That's one beautiful engine ! Beautiful work ! Am I seeing things , or is that an alternator on that 1950 engine ??
  10. "Realistic" Proposals : 1.) 1967 Dart GT+S 2.) 1970 Dart Swinger 340 3.) 1970 Duster 340 4.) 1968 Coronet R/T & Super Bee 5.) 1968 Road Runner 6.) 1969 Coronet R/T & Super Bee 7.) 1970 Charger R/T 8.) 1972 Charger Rallye 9.) 1970 Road Runner 10.) 1971-1972 Road Runner 11.) 1975-1978 Coronet / Monaco 12.) 1974-1975 Monaco 13.) 1970-1974 Challenger 14.) 1971-1974 Barracuda 15.) 1972-1993 Pickup & Van
  11. Dana 60 = Standard : 440 / 4-speed ; 440+6 / 4-speed ; Hemi / 4-speed ; 1969 1/2 Six Pack Super Bee & Six Barrel Road Runner (regardless of transmission ; all had 4.10 gear). Optional (i.e. , "Track Pak" & "Super Track Pak" w/ 4-speed and "Super Performance Axle Package") 3.54 and 4.10 gear ; all with "Sure-Grip" : TorqueFlite-equipped 440 , 440+6 and Hemi. 1966-1972* *= 440 Magnum & Super Commando only ; 3.54 gear only ; 1972 Six Pack & Six Barrel w/TorqueFlite only and 8.75" rear only .
  12. Man , oh man ! Just look at those proposals !! That 1971 F-Series is definitely going to find its way into my collection ! Now if only Round2 were to restore the 2-wheel-drive "Camper Special" F-250 ("Star Truk" , et al.) , that would be great ! The Mustang coupe is just gorgeous ! I remember when , back in 1988 , the local Ford dealership had an SSP "plain jane" on their lot . Its sticker price was a hair under $10,000 (a bargain even then) . I wonder who bought it ! It was sans A/C (a no-no here in the Southwest !) and had no radio ; Certified 125 MPH speedo (maybe it was 140 MPH , I can't remember ...) , buckets , 5-speed and 3.08 Tru-Track diff . It was medium blue / dark blue in colour . As a side note : there was one of the rare 1982 SSP Mustang hatchback CHP models in Whittier back in the mid-late 80's . It was a retired unit ; but it was still painted black with a white roof ; its doors were painted a semi-gloss black , with traces of its CHP regalia under said paint . I had no idea just how rare a hatchback SSP was back then , but I did find it to be unusual . Thanks for sharing these pics and info with us !
  13. Not to diminish Lucas' contribution to the hobby , but if the kit included a separate decal sheet including a top and seat insets* , that would be even better , in my opinion . *= while the Mod interior was only available with the bench seat (as far as I've seen) , it would be nice to make a "phantom" bucket seat version .
  14. This car would eventually become the Gypsy Rose , believe it or not .
  15. Thanks very much for this most joyous news , Tim ! With a back story like that , this kit becomes even more impressive ; the change-of-ownership ; the "Black Friday" of 2008 ; the remergence ; the present day . I just hope that the nay-sayers recognise and appreciate the amount of R&D involved in producing not only this gem , but the many other long-awaited diamonds as well . And , as an added bonus , the $200+ MPC Annual 1970 Barracuda will severly decline in "value" !! It's refreshing to see a Dana 60 in its proper place ! That 1982 Monogram kit and its Hemi / 4 Speed / 8.75" rear combo bugged me since its release ! Now , in recognition that the kit manufactures follow / participate in this forum , I wish to *suggest* the addition of the Mod Top pattern to the decal sheet ; and , some *correct* California license plates , too ( blue / gold 1970 - 1980 series ). I'm definitely vying for you , Revell ! You've come a long way since your Venice , Ca. , days ! Thanks again , Tim
  16. I have sent a number of emails to Round2 for a number of proposals ; the tyre proposal hasn't been one yet . I should copy & paste the link to this thread in my email for them to see
  17. You're right , Junkman : the whole "no-sidewall-detail-at-all" deal is just annoying ! Truly , I'd be happy with an impression --an indentation-- of a whitewall stripe ; a guideline for using either Gel pens or a manufacture-provided decal .
  18. YES !! Exactly ! And , as some-one else mentioned , Raised White Letter would be great as well .
  19. Absolutely ! Firestone Drag 500's are definitely needed in the aftermarket .
  20. Man oh man that's gorgeous !! I can just here that "Brrrappp!" of that 348 through those exhaust tips . What-ever happened to the *malnourished* driver ???
  21. I hope that I'm not alone in this here ... Is there any-one else who'd like to see Round 2 (et al.) release a pack of narrow-stripe whitewall tyres for mid-60's to mid-70's cars ? Think : MPC's annual kits from that time ; the Good*Year whitewalls . Certainly , Round 2 could make some of their excellent "pad printed" tyres in , say , scale F70-14 (ad seq.) for the recent flux of 60's and 70's reissues . Thoughts ?
  22. That Pontiac 400 looks beautiful , Mike ! Goes to show what can be accomplished with the proper selection of colours and chrome ; your craftsmanship is certainly a factor as well . Personally , I wouldn't be concerned with the defective carb , as the air cleaner will just cover it up any-how . And , I like this kit's air cleaner ass'y by the way , as it's got to be the only air cleaner that Monogram got -right- in their entire 80's-issue Muscle Car collection ! Of course , the most disappointing ones are the open element 'cleaners on the '70 Chevelle SS 454 and the '71 "Satellite" ; just wrong ! Keep up the great work !
  23. I'd like to see its Pontiac OHC 6 issued as a separate entity ! That transmission looks like a T.H. 425 ; the one which Oldsmobile used in their Toronado .
  24. Thanks for sharing your pics of this kit's contents ! That hood looks like it fits quite nicely ; looks like it's moulded-shut ! I , too , feel that R-M left the emblems off due to the common practise of builders using photoetch . Those "glode" emblems are too neat ! I can imagine them being applied to other kits (like , on the hood of , say , Revell's 1956 F-100 , when the kit's engine is replaced by the Rocket engine from this Olds kit !) .
  25. WHOA ! This thing is bad!! I've ne'er even heard of this kit , until now . It's especially nice for its time-of-release . If the tooling still exists , then a modified (i.e. , cleaned up) reissue would be nice to see . I'm looking forward to following your build of this hidden treasure ! **As a side note : I really , honestly believe that a kit like this should be a required project for any engineering course in Jr. High and High School (and a smaller , simpler version , in smaller scale , for elementary school kids ) . The hands-on experience would be worth its weight in gold !**
