AMT 1960 3-in-1 Ford F-100 Pickup Truck
1972coronet replied to rekcirb13's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
At the risk of my picking fly poop out of pepper - I agree regarding the subpar details of those rims... especially since Round2 went through the trouble to newly-tool them. Conversely : I'm sure that many will simply cover those centres with the included hubcaps, and barring that, will seek aftermarket / parts box replacements. Ne'er-the-less, a small 'issue' in the overall theme. Absolutely better than paying $1,000,000,000 for an original. -

I'm rather fond of the en masse SUV's and sedans which are painted - what I call - East Berlin Grey or Iron Curtain Pearl . Talk about "inspired" or inspiring ! Bright paints on new(er) vehicles looks off to me ; resembling something like a Happy Meal toy or some-such. -

I was just wondering to myself the other day, I haven't seen anything recent from @mrmike - maybe he'll start a new project soon, I hope. , then I see no less than two W.I.P.'s here ! Not sure as to why I haven't pulled the trigger on getting one of these kits yet, especially since it's : - One of my favourite cars (G.M. A-bodies in general, but esp. the Olds) - Transmission options - Wonderfully detailed Definitely following, my good man !

"Torbie" (portmanteau of "Tortoise Shell" and "Tabby") is likely the 'proper' - and actual - nomenclature Brie's marques. Beautiful tri-colour ! Here's another Oly photo, 27-5-2014 :

Blues Festival whose entitlement was Benson & Hedges Blues Festival in June 1990. Featured many of my favourite artists / performers : - John Lee Hooker - Cab Calloway - Stevie Ray Vaughn (one of his last performances) - Dr. John And that's just from memory ! Second best ? Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives , 15-04-2022 , La Mirada Theatre . Marty - who happens to own and curate and play the hell out of Clarence White's Parsons-White B-Bender - and his band play more than Bluegrass . One of the finest renditions of the Count Five Psychotic Reaction ever ! Their version of Pretty Boy Floyd is pure dynamite ! Then there were the numerous Punk , Psychobilly, Bluegrass, Electronic, and Deathrock shows back in the late 80's / early 90's. -

No talk about the Round2 1971 Dodge Demon ?
1972coronet replied to gtx6970's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I understand your ire , @Justin Porter. While I'm not a business owner, I definitely empathise with your and your fellow independent business owner / operators. That's one of the reasons why I buy local / independent as much as possible (at the risk of virtue signalling). Certainly, the store I've ordered my copies from (along with the '60 and '63 F-100 kits - multiples of each) won't be getting them anytime soon ; but, I can wait. -

I'll have to take a closer look then. I live in California, so , in theory, I should be able to find them on 'Mart's site. A cursory examination earlier today didn't exhibit the 1971 Demon 340 - that's why I was wondering if you saw them in person or on their site. -

Painting with the hood on or off?
1972coronet replied to av405's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The last two curbside kits I've built were painted with hood on ( AMT 1963 Nova Wagon and AMT 1965 GTO ). However, before I affixed the bonnet in both instances, I made sure that the panel separation (hood-to-fenders, etc.) was 'true' , then I painted some flat black around the hood's edge and fenders' edges. [ EDIT ] : This is done before the final primer coat. Like @Ace-Garageguy and others have stated , metallics and pearls - and especially candy colours - need to be uniform. This is true in 1:1 as it is on our scale replicas. Final coats with all relative panels affixed (temporarily) is paramount. Solid colours ? Not so much (at least in my experiences). -
