Just scored this little gem. I finally got this car, and I have been looking for it for some time now. Rare, and valuable, but I can’t wait to tear into this kit. Gonna build it to resemble the car in the pic.

Ahhh a roadster. Sound like a pretty cool idea. I really gotta get away from 60 era S/S cars, and muscle cars, and do something different like this.

Maybe try Scenes Unlimited? I’ve seen these somewhere, but you know how it goes when you actually are looking for them they disappear.

That’s better than having no letters at all. The Brannan Thunderbolt has nice “FORD” block letters on the decal sheet. I’ve been sanding the letters off the trunk, and using the decals instead, with my TBolt builds. Sorry to get off topic. My apologies to Mark. You did one heck of a good job building this Galaxie.

I’ve bought many 60 Ford Starliners, and 64 Dodge S/S kits, just to rob the chassis from them.

That’s one beautiful Yenko. All the details really stand out. That engine is one of the best I’ve seen.

Thanks for the info. If I’m using DupliColor I always use DupliColor clear. But the Testors was my “go to” clear for all of my model lacquer sprays, even Tamiya. I really don’t like the Tamiya clears as much as the Testors. It seems the time window has to be followed to have the Tamiya clear lay perfect, either right after your last top coat, or wait until the paint fully cures. I guess I’ll be clearing my Tamiya sprays in that window from now on.

Did a little detailing work this morning, and the engine is almost complete. I had to order some more micro bits from Micro Mark, as my smallest size bits needs replacing. So that stops me from adding the tiny wires to the generator, and other things, like the master cylinder. Gave it a try building the battery solenoid, and getting other under hood items ready. I plan on foiling tomorrow, since I’m on hold with the wiring.

Thanks. The hubcaps are from the Limited Edition 64 Fairlane kit, and the chassis and floor is from the 60 Starliner. Did some polishing today, and got the rest of the parts painted. I plan on hitting the hub caps with some more panel line accent to darken them a bit more.

I’ve been wanting to build a Galaxie with dog dish hub caps for a while now. So this one is going to get them. Also been working on the engine, wires, chassis. In the process of scratch building a solenoid on the wheel well, to wire the battery.

After a three day soak, the black paint literally rubbed off. A little dab or Pro Weld on the pillar and cowl did the trick. After deepening and darkening the panel lines, it was sprayed with Tamiya grey primer. Then sanded with 1200, then sprayed with DupliColor sealer. Then sanded again, and then four coats of DupliColor Candy Apple Red. ($1.29 from Ollies). Then sanded one more time, before four coats of DupliColor clear. Still a bit of orange peel in it, but in another two days, it will get a complete polish.

I bought this body on the bay, figuring since I have so many parts to pretty much build another Galaxie. When it arrived, two cracks were found on the pillar, and the cowl. The pics and description was misleading, so I received almost a full refund, and was told to keep the part. So in the purple pond it went. I got a bit ahead of myself while building, more pics to come.

Wow, I can see you are at it again, Steve. I don’t know how I missed six pages of your progress on this build. I’ll be following along. I always get some good ideas watching your builds.

I do like the latest release, probably mostly for the decals. They include the block style “FORD” script for the trunk. Not sure if the Special Edition also has them. I noticed the styrene quality isn’t what it used to be like the earlier kits. Just like any kit, this one has a couple minor issues, but not complicated to deal with. Other than that, it is one of my favorite cars, and favorite model kits. I think I’ve built around 14 or so, with three others still on the bench, as I have decals for. A few of my Thunderbolt builds. The last three are the first cars I built a few years ago.

Very fine 58! Very cool to have a period correct color like you have on your build. From your interior to the tires, the details are well done. Show winner for sure.

Looks fantastic.. Matt. The colors you used on the interior look perfect. I was building the Lee Smith car, but a friend offered to take the WIP off my hands for a decent price. I’m glad I have two more of these beauties in my stash.

Yes. This is why there is so much regulation on everything anymore. Some people just have to try to milk a system, and go against the grain for their own personal gain. Now, since ebay changed its commission policy, it’s not fair to a seller that has to pay a commission on their purchase of shipping boxes, shipping tape, and actually getting the product to the post office. It’s not really worth selling on eBay anymore. Thanks to the people that decided to inflate the shipping charges. Also I could be wrong, but it seems likely there are a lot less people selling these days on eBay. At least you can still hand write the address label to avoid the fee of printing one through eBay.
