  1. Very nice Charger. I agree that the color is indeed very nice. Do you remember if it was the AMT, or the MPC kit? Im not even sure if either kit was a reissue, but I’d like to build one, and was wondering which was the better kit.
  2. Even after careful prepping, dust still has a way of finding your model. My problem usually is during the clearing of the model. It’s the small fibers along with dust that gets me frustrated. What I do while painting and clearing, is lay down super light, mist coats. After the first coat is dry, you can inspect the paint with a magnifying visor, or readers, for small pieces of dust, hair, fibers, etc. At this point, you can easily remove any foreign debris from the paint and clear, either with a glove covered finger, or some 3200 sandpaper, if needed. And I do this after every coat. My main goal, is to not let a heavy wet coat cover and imbed any debris, as it becomes more difficult to remove. Removing any “junk” as soon as the light coat dries, keeps you one step ahead of removing it from your paint job. And never rush a paint job. Allow however long it takes to get it right. I try to paint when I first enter the room, as not to stir up any dust, as compared to me being in the room for any given time when it could have dust floating all over the place just from my moving around.

    68 dart

This Dart looks fantastic! The engine detail, and the foiling is perfect. I wouldn’t have noticed the rear wheels until you mentioned it. Real race cars are far from perfect. You did this one justice. So basically you have to mock up the decals before you modify the rear wheel openings? I plan on buying this kit, and wasn’t aware of any problems. I did read a review a while back that it could use more race parts.
  4. I don’t get why the long wait. It’s suppose to be released in the first quarter of 2019. They already have the Beswick kit, and I’m sure it will be the same parts, except different decals, and boxing.
  5. That build looks perfect. Great interior detail. Your decals look as if they were painted on. I have two of these kits. One is for building, the other one I’m keeping sealed. I cant wait till the Dyno Don car comes out. Should be out within the next two months.
  6. That’s not cool, Ray. I’ve bought tires from him about 8 years ago, and I’m surprised you paid and got nothing. He always had a good reputation. He should fill all paid orders, before folding. SMH
  7. I have several sets from Joseph. He has various sizes of the M/T, BFG, and I think Nitto. Not sure of the Nittos though. The M/T, and BFG drag radials look like the real thing. You can’t go wrong with Fireball Modelworks. Everything I bought from him is superb.
  8. Talk about detail... I see that this kit needed some extra attention paid to the underhoid area. Looks fantastic. Nice idea using the aluminum soda can for clamps.
  9. So far... it’s pleasing to my eye. Nice work on that Hemi.
  10. I bought 10 kits in the last month, after telling myself I must stop. Right now I’m focusing on building as many as I can as paint, and supplies allow. I really should sell some of them. I had big plans for some builds, but some of those plans were years ago. I have to get focused, and accept the fact I must let the kits go I probably will never build.
  11. Thanks Al.. I’ve been on a Ford kick for a while, and I still have four more of them on my bench. I just finished clearing my bright red AMT 68 Hemi Roadrunner, and I still have to get some color on the AMT 69 Roadrunner pro street. And I can’t forget about the 69 Dodge Superbee. Why cant you post any pictures? Are you having problems, or don’t you know how? Id like to see some more of your Mopars.
  12. Very nice build. I especially like the extra detail to the plug wires and angled plug boots.
  13. Thanks for the info, Al. I did use the race style headers on it, and added the spaghetti headers to my parts bin. Ive since finished the build. The only thing I didn’t like with the kit race headers was, the collectors looked uneven after the two halves were glued together. So I just added some aluminum tube to them. I also have another California Flash, and a Golden Commando I plan on saving for a while. I hear they were limited run kits. I most likely will build the Melrose Missle I already started BEFORE I stared and finished this one.
  14. The Thunderbolt kits tires are too large for that car, during that time of racing. In 1964, no tire was allowed over 7” wide. If I’m not mistaken, the kit tires would measure out to be 9-10” wide. Speed City Resin sells the correct “grooved” 7” slicks. I use them on all of my Thunderbolt builds.
  15. You can pretty much make any wheel work with a little modification. I always keep resin aftermarket “thin” wheelbacks on hand just in case. Moebius wheels are a one piece rim, that fits inside the hollow tire. You could modify the backside of the rim with wheelbacks from your parts bin, or the Coronet wheelbacks.. The easiest way in your case would be to modify the axles on the Coronet kit, to accept the Moebius wheels. This would most likely require grinding down the Moebius wheel hubs with a roto tool, like a Dremel. As far as being correct, maybe a knowledgeable Mopar person could chime in on that one.
  16. I forget what I paid, I’m thinking $24.?
  17. The stance is perfect IMO. I’ll be following this one.
  18. Very nice Super Bee, Brian. Nice job on the wheels and redlines! I have two of these in my stash. One is the same as yours, the other is supercharged, molded in white. I plan on leaving the blue metallic Just as it is too. If you polish it with Novus #2, it will look amazing without paint.
  19. You did it justice. Nice clean build. I’m glad this kit came out also. I was constantly looking on eBay, trying to find one. The prices were pretty high, and that’s only IF you were lucky enough to find one. Still undecided on how to build mine. Im looking forward to the new posts of the builds on this car, as people are starting to get them completed.
  20. I finished this car up about a week ago. Just didn’t get a chance to get a few pics. Now it’s time to move on to the 68 Hemi Roadrunner, 69 Super Bee, and 69 Pro Street Roadrunner that are on the bench. I’d like to get the Mopars finished up before finishing the OTHER projects I have started on the bench. I seriously must stop buying kits, and just finish most of what I have. Since the new year, I bought four kits. I have about 70 kits in my stash, and I know that’s nothing compared to many other builders out there. So, the only thing I’ll be buying from now on, is paint, BMF, and the like.
  21. A great color that you don’t see too often on these cars. Very tidy underhood work. I really like the interior details as well. Its nice to see one of these new releases completed, and not rushed. Fantastic build!!
  22. I sprayed these with a flat paint, and just used a cotton swab lightly moistened with 70% alcohol. (91% will remove the chrome). Then touched up the bolts and centers with a Molotow pen.
  23. Even though the initial plan got sidetracked, still looks pretty darn good to me.
  24. Man, sorry to hear about your mishap, but as long as you are ok with it, is all that matters. I recently had issues with certain paint and clear compatibility. There is a thread in Model Building Question And Answer board on it. Now after learning what I have, I’ll never stray away from what works. I’ve had paint jobs work out, then all of a sudden, they all went bad. I think it looks fine with the cover resting on it. Not a waste by any means.
