  1. I have a lot of reference material, but mine is more on a professional level. I have Chilton books going back to the teens and collision guides back to the 1950's. The glossy stuff is limited to items of interest such as Trans Am, old car dealerships, old gas stations, Ford GT40's, etc.
  2. There were a LOT of '55 Chevy wagons with 4-doors.
  3. There are Mustangs from '65-'73. There are Camaros from '67-'73. There are Barracudas from '64-'71. There are no Javelins from '68-'70. Change the chassis, the body and the interior tub and you have an AMX. There are a lot of cars that can be made from one model if thought out properly. And there would still be enough interest for the resin casters. The '59 Impala convertible was able to lead to 3 additional models. The '67 GTX lead to a few spin-offs. I'm surprised Monogram never brought out 1960 Cadillacs to go along with the '59 models. I think the coming of the '55 Chrysler C300 has the same potential. Between DeSoto's and Chrysler's of '55 and '56 vintage, there is the potential for at least 4 to 6 cars with minimal fuss. If IMC takes this tact with any furture projects, I would think life is good.
  4. So it's not a 3n1? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
  5. My first car was a '75 Monte Carlo. I trashed that car and never really cared. It was the cars I could of had or tried to buy that I lament. My dad had a '74 VW Thing and offered it to me. But I scared myself crazy trying to drive a stick. A retiree from GM was selling his '67 Pontiac Grand Prix and wanted $1500. Buy the time I came back it was gone... I wouldn't mind my first new car back. It was a '86 Ford Escort GT. I had a lot of fun with it. If anyone has a CarFax account, the VIN is 1FABP33J5GW205174. I still know it by heart...
  6. I'm glad you got a head start on the classics. I have friends on mine who swear 1989 was the greatest year in the history of music.
  7. The only problem you'd have locating a C5 is if you are looking for a Z06. I might be wrong, but I don't think they made a Z06 kit. Am I wrong?
  8. I like classic rock as much as the next old guy , if I'm 'playing' with a model (or baseball cards) I like something a little more soothing like smooth jazz. This is Four Play with Michael McDonald on vocals...
  9. As Ed mentioned, all AM Trans Am cars were Javelins. They never used the AMX in T/A. AMX and Javelin used the same body in '71 and '72.
  10. I know that if I make the trip to the Northeast, I'm definitely stopping at the Philadelphia ship yard. Would love to see the SS United States before someone, somewhere decides to scrap her.
  11. I don't know if Monogram issued cars of this period into a series, but from the point of issuing the '59 Cadillac Eldorado, the '59 Impalas, the '50 Ford Pick Up I think just raised the bar over what had been issued previously.
  12. This is what you need on a flathead. A Frenzel supercharger...
  13. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ............................
  14. With a couple resin bodies, the Mayberry Ford and the Adam-12 Belvedere could be 'reality'
  15. As mentioned, the parts departments had these listed as accessories. I bet most car salesmen at these dealerships didn't even know they had these in parts. If I was selling Chevys or Dodges I personally may have had these for 'special' clients depending on how many cars I had sold them.
  16. I've seen a couple that still do. I've seen the Challenger at a couple of Dodge dealers and Corvettes still sit on some Chevy dealers parts shelves.
  17. This is funny. I had most of the bad kits list by AMT, MPC and Monogram growing up. No wonder I switched to baseball cards and promo collecting...
  18. If a title is lost, or a serial number was missing from the car, the state may still register the car as a 2011. The body shell is a part. It's up to the owner to comply with the necessary rules of his state. The Feds don't care about a guy building a car in his garage, or even a small manufacturer building a small production run. How can someone prove the crash worthiness of his car without crashing it first? I'm not sure how many it takes to cross a line with the Feds. It might be 100 cars, or it might be 1000. I can't remember. But a guy building his own car is exempt. Most states will title the car based on the year it most resembles (1968?). Build a '32 Ford and it's exempt from the seat belt law. A body shell is just a part. The US government doesn't care how the car is titled. The rules set forth by Congree only apply to GM, Ford, Chrysler and the foreign ###### (think Toyota). I can build a car out of wood and be legal. Some states require a vehicle pass a safety inspection before it can be registered. And it has to pass for the year of the car. A '68 Mustang is still a '68 Mustang even if made in 2011. Let's use another example. The Lotus Super 7. It was never sold (turnkey) here in the states. It would never pass a crash test or emissions testing. But sell it as a kit, and it doesn't have to meet those requirements. Ford all the fiberglass Cobra kit cars on the road, I doubt any would pass a crash test. It doesn't have to. It's not a car until it's assembled.
  19. Ah, welcome to the Woodward Dream Cruise and automotive advertising. A month (August) where billboards are rented as much for the podestrian as well as the motorist. A weekend where a 20 mile stretch of US highway becomes a parking lot for 30,000 cars and party for 2-1/2 million of your friends...
  20. OK, so I bought the hardtop yesterday and may pick up another. The question I have for those who have built both body styles...Did AMT change the dash to reflect the A/C system or are both dashes the same? I know this is nit picking, but I may try to find the drop top for the 4bbl engine and A/C system.
  21. What's a snow plow? <-------
  22. SPAM!!! And I hate Porsches.... EDIT: Andy's webpage is wrong. Classic Speed is here ---> http://www.classicspeedinc.com/index.cmc . They take YOUR Mustang and rebuild/restore it. Plus you have to ship it out of the country.
  23. I would think the '06 Camaro kit would have a nice LS2 in it, and the 2010 kit should have an LS3.
