  1. That car is amazing. I wish Revell or R2 would start producing road cars.
  2. It's really all a grey area. I have worked with copyrighting and licensing in the past and it all depends on pretty much on how nice the guy is you are copying. What many people don't realize is that you don't have to have a patent or copyright on something for it to be protected. If you are making the cab for the sole purpose of using it yourself and you are not going to sell it you are 100% fine. If you are making it to sell and make profit from that is when they original caster could come after you but it all really starts with a cease and desist letter. Then if you don't it might go to court. But I doubt it would get that far. The grey area comes in when you copy something to sell. Technically every resin caster that casts and sells resin copies of plastic parts from Revell or AMT or anyone else is infringing on copyright but it's not worth the time and money involved in a lawsuit. Their is a legal term for allowed copyright infringement but I forgot it. You would be surprised how prevalent copyright infringement is in the everyday world just go to a art or craft show and every crafter you see using cartoon characters in their work is violating copyright and every person using images of soda cans or anything branded is in violation too.
  3. I really want to get out to an NNL event they just need to have one around St. Louis.
  4. The blue is stunning. Nice build.
  5. That's what my girlfriend said. I agree my kits are small potatoes compared to some others. Soon though you and I will be swimming in kits we will never build.
  6. They didn't get rich selling to the poor they got rich ripping off the poor.
  7. That is the most realistic tarp I have ever seen on a model.
  8. I don't know the website for the Kirkwood show I don't think it is the same as the Toy Man shows The Toy Man shows generally have a few estate dealers selling models last time I went one guy brought over 500 models to sell. http://www.toymanshow.com/ One of the local IPMS clubs is having a show in September http://www.ipms-gateway.com/invite2011a.html Some of the local flea markets Have dealers I know Truman Flea Market, Wentzville flea market, and Route 66 flea market have dealers there. They are expensive though so you have to either bargain really well of deal with paying high end or above ebay prices. Last time I was at Truman flea market the guy was selling snap 1/32 nascar kits for 10 bucks. One dealer had the Dealers choice trailer/racers wedge combo for 50 dollars when you can buy it on ebay for 25. I just laughed and walked away. The belleville flea market has a dealer that comes every once in a while and his prices are decent but he's hit or miss. I sell some model stuff, parts and kits, for a local model group every other month their my prices are reasonable, lol, and I will be back there in March. If you want to come check out what I have.
  9. I will officially be there. I don't really have anything I can bring to work on but I will be up there with a bunch of trade stuff. I am looking forward to meeting more localish builders.
  10. Exactly to both of you. I highly doubt Ferrari really felt the depression anyway. the cars they were producing for the last few years had not been stellar so sales were down on that.
  11. Through buying large lots like you I accumulated 79 complete kits in just 42 days after buying my first kit. Counting partial kits and built ups I had over 150 kits and over 30 pounds of parts. It's always nice to find big scores like that.
  12. Geez, that black looks sleek. This car is awesome.
  13. It is a decent kit for a snap kit. I wish Revell or AMT would just come out with blank Nascars and let the decal companies have fun. Less licensing for the companies and cheaper too.
  14. It's odd that they wouldn't have a discount sale. Maybe someone else already bought the stock so another shop might open.
  15. They are only worth whatever you are willing to pay for them.
  16. parachutes were starting to catch on by the early mid 60's but were not widely used until the late 60's early 70's.
  17. Awesome car. I think this one is from Tamiya but I keep wanting Revell to reissue their version. I had a poster of the Jag on my wall when I was kid.
  18. 1958 - Abe Carson used one on the Hartman and Carson Dragster. Jim Deist designed it and fitted it to the car. Parachutes started being used on cars going back to the mid 30's as a way to slow runaway diesel trucks.
  19. Looks good.
  20. That's awesome a great way to re-purpose something and make it look good.
  21. Ugh I am drooling over that race team and modified. Is it complete? any chance you might trade it? Looks like you got some cool stuff.
  22. I think that would be a good thing too. Many small magazines that have release issues eliminate dates.
  23. Nice build looks really cool. Only thing I don't like about it is the shine. But a great model is a great model.
  24. I would like to see more modern stuff be it modified reissues or new kits in general.
