Definitely sounds like many Revell kits of that time and even somewhat earlier. The Mickey Thompson Challenger kit features four Pontiacs with the internal details and, as George 53 said, the Roth kits and others had that also. I have a Challenger kit stashed away and I tell myself that one of these days I'll build it with one engine torn down. Don't hold your breath!

It's great to see somebody doing something good with one of those! They're very cool cars but, like you say, the old Pyro/Lindberg tooling leaves a lot to be desired. Keep it goin'! I can tell this is gonna be really good!

Latex wall paint will need a LOT of thinning. Besides that, it's so totally different from any paint that's used on models that I don't think you'll get any realistic practice. I think I'd start with some Testor's square bottle enamel or similar (that you might be able to find on a discount table), thin it down and practice with that. Just a suggestion.

There's a couple of these Case construction trucks at a jobsite near my office. Of course, there aren't any kits of them (resin maybe?) but I thought somebody might be interested in looking. Don't know anything about them but I think they're very cool!

That's fabulous!! I'd love to see a tutorial on your masking techniques. Everybody always acts like it's nothing, "Ya jus put some tape on it and paint", but I find GOOD masking to be one of the toughest things to do. Again, that looks totally KOOOL! What kind of tape did you use?

I'm really sorry to hear that evaluation. I have one stashed away also and hadn't really looked at it closely yet. It will still probably get built one day but I was hoping for a really good Coronet kit. Back in the day I built several of the old AMT Coronets and loved that kit as well as the 1:1. Maybe Round 2 will change their mind about re-issuing because I'm not ready to pay what the originals go for on Ebay!

Hi!! Always great to have somebody new on the forum. You've probably already figured that there are a lot of amusing (to put it mildly) characters on here. Sounds like your history is kinda similar to mine. I started in the late fifties. Built a couple of aircraft in a about an hour each and then one day a friend showed me the new AMT 3 in 1 kit he just got. My eyes bugged out!! I built a lot for a few years but then life got in the way. Anyway, I quit building for many, many years and just took it back up maybe 4 or 5 years ago. It's just as much fun as ever so welcome and ENJOY!!

Not too long ago I was at the LHS on a Sunday afternoon looking at the kits and having the usual crazy thoughts but not really there for any particular reason. A guy walked up and asked me a question about a kit (I don't remember what) and we struck up a conversation. He grew up in a bad part of town (seems like most places have one nowadays) raised by a single mom so there wasn't much money to go around but there were plenty of free opportunities to get into trouble. Well, despite the lack of money his mom always bought kits and supplies for him. She knew he was at home, out of trouble's way, and spending his time learning some reasoning skills and developing concentration and the ability to stick to a task - rare qualities today. He turned out okay. Never got in any trouble, stayed in school, got a job. He was in the hobby shop looking for a kit to bring home to his son even though he doesn't bring home a lot of money. He could stop at that shop because it's on a bus route. A really nice guy. Looking back on it, I wish I had gotten his name to stay in touch.

Too bad about the job situation! I've been there once too often myself but it always seems to work out for the good somehow. Anyway, it hasn't stopped your creativity from flowing. That's a great looking build already and just totally original. That pickup bed is SO COOL!! Keep it comin'!

VERY COOL!! That's a totally different take on a '63 Galaxy. They've always been one of my favorites but I've never pictured one looking like that. I love the builds that really show some creativity. Great job!!

There is a pretty good '56 Golden Hawk resin transkit by R&R. Not perfect but well worth building. I got one from Ebay and haven't built it yet. I don't know if there are any other good sources besides the 'Bay. As far as the '57-'61 Hawks, I'm still hoping !!!
