Next step, re-construct the chassie to look more correct, but It'll be a curbside so no engine details. The rear wheeltubs were different size each side.....

Hi! I haven't posted very much lately, but I have been rather productive when it comes to building model cars. And, a few weeks ago I dug out an old VW from my stash, a kit which I started 2-3 years ago but put aside.... I'm a big fan of VW/Porsche and of the 80+ finished models I have , almost 30% are V.A.G products! I've only built ONE 1303 before, a slightly customized convertible, so I wanted to build a sedan as well. I remember a friend who had a black 1303 w sunroof (1:1 scale , real car) in the early to mid 80's. I don't have any pic's of that particular car so I will build a "tribute" inspired by the 1:1, not a clone. First a "drawing" showing my vision: The kit itself has been molded in bright red styrene...... and, as usual with japanese kits, it's designed to be motorized. *cause of that the interior bucket is very shallow and will be replaced. I have a scrapped convertible in my stash and I'll pirate the inner door panels from that kit. Seat comes from an unknown source , found in my parts bin. I started with scribing the roof panel to give the impression of a closed sunroof:

Well done!

I finished this "cartoon-styled" show rod, which I call T-rophy Hunter, a couple of weeks ago. I started the project in June/July 2022. Fully scratchbuilt frame. Body sectioned 1/5" and roof raised 4/5", rear wheels from a 1/20 scale Hard Hat Hauler, bench seat from Monogram 1940 Ford, drivers head from a PEZ-dispenzer, Blower from some Monogram showrod, dummy engine under the hood made from an old AMT 32 Ford V8, The hood from an old Monogram MACK showrod, headlights from a battery-operated toy beach buggy. front wheels I think from Monogram Fire Cracker.

Very nice build ! Love the paint scheme !

Awesome, I really like it !?
-
Lotsa work went into that build !?

Wow, they're both awesome. However, being a custom man, the blue one is the one that really "speaks to me" !

I love doing showtrods and "Toon-rods", however I prefere do make my own designs, not just buy and build any "stock kit". Here's something I've had on my mind for quite a few years. A german 1941 VW Type 82 "Kübelwagen" with a "crazy out of scale driver, sticking his head out the closed cab". Started out as a 12H challenge build (didn't make the limit of course...) and was finished last week. The car body is from a chinese modelkit by Bluetank Company and 1/24th scale. The rest is pure imagination, spare parts, a PEZ-dispenser and loads of scrachbuilding.

Rudy's "revenge" keeps going. The widowed Mrs Santa has now been kidnapped by Rudy and he's taking her down to Ft Myers, FL , where he runs a surf shack at the beach....

Who doesn't love a mock-up? Let's see yours!

Mock up of my latest WIP, "Trophy Hunter" , a showrod built from scrapped showrod parts I had laying around... -
Just like many years before I was invited to a christmas-challenge. This year everyone got a 1963 Chevy II wagon to build. I did mine almost out of the box, I only changed the wheels , the engine and the steering-wheel. I also converted it to 2-door delivery style and instead of the trailer included in the kit, I made my own fully scratchbuilt trailer. Everything was built in a total of 27 days.
-
....and now, what'll happen this year? Well, so far I can only tell You there's a 1963 Chevy II Wagon to be built no later than Jan 14th , stay tuned

.....Rudy grew up to be a very big and strong reindeer. One day he managed to "finish off " Santa. He took an axe and a big saw. Rudy chopped Santa into pieces and put everything except Santa's head in a black sack. Then throw all of it into the back of an old 1964 Plymouth Hearse .
-
This is the first Santa's ride in what will end as a Tetralogi NEXT christmas. Santa's Gasser, a 1966 Buick Wildcat. Li'l "baby" Rudolph in the passenger seat, almost scared to death! At that exact moment Rudolph swore to get even with Santa once he became a fullgrown reindeer........

Body (which is a rip off from Monograms Bug Bomb) was a friction toy car from china I think. The wooden box was constructed from styrene sheet and the doors swing open. The pig behind the steering wheel was given to me by a good friend who also supplied me with the LEGO cap for the pig's head. All the rest comes from my stash of spare parts and a bit of crazy imagination.... It's supposed to be an "ambulance" belonging to the oldest mental asylum in Berlin (closed in 2007, yes it was a real asylum). Paint is Wehrmacht Grau (german WWII colour) and the car should be something like a 1946-47 VW (I imagine....LOL!)
