  1. It worked very well, Tom
  2. Very nice Tomo, keep it up
  3. Just found this thread - the work so far is awesome, Tom, especially the roof chop, very neat. Did you simply lay down the rear window to bridge the gap?
  4. After a short hiatus I seem to be back in building mode again, so in an effort to keep the momentum going I'm braving a thread in this section in the hope that I will keep this going. This is the old Cherry Pie kit, but as with a previous 30/31 build I have made the doors fit flush a la '32 Ford for a cleaner appearance. The chassis is from the AMT '32 Phantom Vicky but using the Revell dropped front axle/batwings from the '32 series. The wheels are my current favourite from Pegasus. Hope I haven't upset any purists
  5. Thanks August, your Ford has a great stance - where are the wheels from?
  6. This is my entry in this year's Cannonball Run CBP. I'm quite happy with the result, started with the Revell '65 fastback, added the engine from the '98 Saleen convertible, wheels/tyres from a Fujimi RX8 Mazda and a few bits of Mustang Model Car Garage photoetch including grill, fuel cap and glovebox motif. Extra fuel cell and battery box are from the AMT '32 Phantom Vicky. Front half of exhaust is Saleen, rear section from base kit. Paint is Tamiya Metallic Orange with flat black hood. And yes, I still have to add the upper radiator hose
  7. Just about finished this, only need to add the upper radiator hose. Paint is Tamiya Metallic Orange with flat black hood (we are heading west after all, need to keep reflections to a minimum ). I know it's a long way to the finish line, but at least I'm underway .
  8. And then there were the '49 Oldsmobile and '50 Studebaker announced but never released by AMT back in 2000....

    WOODN'T

Great craftsmanship John, I watched this develop in 'on the workbench'
  10. Nice job Jordan
  11. Hi everyone, apologies for not being around much lately but back in building mode now I have been monitoring the thread and some great builds going on here. Here is how my '65 Mustang stands at present - paint is the new Tamiya Metallic Orange (over white primer). The engine is the 351 Saleen from the 1998 convertible kit. Ride height a little higher than I prefer, but this is a cross country race on public roads!
  12. Some wonderful creativity and dioramas - thanks for sharing
  13. Looks awesome Derek, great job.
  14. Welcome Frank, it's open until the end of the year, so hope you have enough time LOL
  15. Thanks Jonathan, haven't been building much lately, but getting back in the groove now
  16. Hi Nick good luck with this, I did the same thing to a Ford Thunderbolt last year http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=50411&hl=thunderbolt Don't forget you will need 'doglegs' at the rear to accommodate the top bows when the roof is lowered. I cheated and used the rear seat from a '64 Mustang
  17. You're doing a great job so far Derek, I built the previous version last year so I know what you're going through
  18. This is my current desktop as inspiration for my Cannonball Run CBP project
  19. Thanks for the effort Kevin, I too hope he appreciates it.
  20. Hi Kevin I regularly buy off ebay and shipping through USPS first class international was as low as $20 for two kits, although this was pre January. My last order was for two Stacey David '32 Fords and they were shipped at around US$30 in February. Hope this helps, some of us rely on you guys to keep this hobby affordable - much appreciated Edit - just tried the online calculator, select 'package', then weight 2 pounds, on next screen select other option - first class, came out at $24.05.
  21. I'd like to add New Zealand to the list if I may. Only a small population (4 million) but with a thriving full size hot rod scene. I belong to a model club here in Auckland with 12 - 15 hard core members that meet every month, some of whom are awesome builders and members of this fine forum. Brett Tynan is a prolific builder of mainly drag cars, Mike Pringle is another great builder who occasionally appears here (you may have seen the scratchbuilt replica 1/16 '27T Bonneville racer he built with Jack Martin). Our builds pretty much reflect the trends on here, plus we have resin casters and others who produce home made decals and rusting relics. Please check out our website http://modelpetrolhead.proboards.com/ to see how things are done in 'Middle Earth' . We also have several online members in the good ol' US
  22. Looks good Josh - what did you use for plug boots?
  23. Hey Justin - welcome to the site and this CBP. You're not too late, it runs all year. Just follow everyone's lead and let us know what you want to build.
  24. beautiful
  25. Went with my wife to the sales. After a while she noticed I'd slipped off. Where are you? she says on the phone. Well says I, remember that jeweller's store we went to years ago and you wanted that diamond necklace, but we couldn't afford it and I said one day it's yours? Yes darling, she sighed. Well I'm in the pub next door.
