  1. If we're talking 1/4 mile, the record is actually held by a Brit, 6.592 at 220.09 in June this year. http://www.redvictor1racing.co.uk/
  2. Sorry to see that Jonathan, that usually happens to me too Hopefully you can touch it up without a full respray, it might not be too noticeable.
  3. Wow, that's awesome Jon. I still watch this thread, but haven't built any foreign cars recently. Have just bought a Maclaren, so hope to start that soon. Trouble is, where I come from it's American cars that are foreign (and my usual builds)!

Thanks for the comments everyone, I was surprised to see this resurface after almost a year. Then I saw a similar build in the CKM show coverage which looks way better than mine. Great job on your build, whoever you are!
  5. This is my current daily driver and avatar, a 1998 Mazda MX5 courtesy Aoshima And this is currently on its way from the USA, methinks I need to get AMT's recently reissued '66 Mustang
  6. I made this fictional '62 from the Hayden Proffitt car:
  7. Recently got this display secondhand from a computer shop - prior to that my built kits were stored in boxes in a cupboard. It's near my workbench (dining table!) so I too can marvel while I eat, work & play
  8. After reading this thread yesterday, I Googled 'American oil imports' and discovered that 58% of your petroleum was imported in 2007. If Americans are so concerned about local content in their cars, would they refuse to fill their tanks with petrol (gas) imported from Mexico, Canada, Venezuela and the Middle East? You might be spending more on imported gas than you are on imported parts each year! Speaking as a 'foreigner', we are all proud of cars produced by our own countries - I used to buy 'British' cars even though they were not 100% British. I'm sure something similar applies to our other 'foreign' members too from France, Germany et al. My passion was (and still is) Fords, and although I knew they were ultimately American, cars such as Anglias, Escorts and Cortinas were not marketed/built over there, so I regarded them as 'English' Fords. Later they became increasingly 'European' but I still purchased them. Very few manufactured items are 100% local, get used to it!
  9. Hope the move goes smoothly Jonathan. Lambo looks sweet Liam
  10. The Nissan looks great Jonathan, the decals really help - can't believe it's given you so much grief. Jon, nice work, the interior is awesome.
  11. Looks great Ian, well done ! Seems we are all having ups and downs at the moment, that's modelling eh? Jonathan, don't forget the fun I had with my Jag at the beginning of this thread, I ended up gluing the hood shut after lots of work on the engine Finished the Alfa this evening, quite happy with the way it turned out.
  12. x3! but it works! and the engine looks awesome too. My model club is having a non-V8 night on Thursday, so hoping my Alfa will be finished. Done lots of decaling and clearcoaring with Future as per the instructions, here's how it looks now:
  13. No worries Ian, glad to help out Looking forward to seeing the result!
  14. Nice work guys, those engines look great
  15. No need for an exchange Ian, I'm glad to help out -I wanna see it finished! PM me with your address and I'll send them out to you.
  16. x2 Jonathan, nice work The Holden looks great too, Ian. If you can't find any wheels/tyres in your spares, I can let you have these. They are hollow Firestones that are the right size. I'll throw in some spare Ford Thunderbolt 'steel' wheels and backs that fit perfectly. Let me know if they are of use to you.
  17. Looking great, Lawrence & Jonathan Just to show I haven't been idle, the decals arrived from Oz and got the first few on the bonnet (hood). They aren't particularly smooth, so will need clearcoating to bring out the colour.
  18. Much better Jonathan, hope the fix is easy. The Mitsi looks great too, nice shade.
  19. Good luck Jonathan, don't forget to apply a light spray of clear to seal the edges of the tape before applying the red. Mitsi is looking good too, what shade of blue is it going to be?
  20. Nice job Jonathan, looks great but a little Spartan, I guess the real cars are like that.
  21. good recovery, best of luck with the repaint
  22. Your not supposed to be able to see them LOL
  23. Thanks Jonathan, as I said earlier, you don't see it all in the pics, I only show the good side LOL. Made good progress tonight, did a lot of the interior, the fuel tank covers the rear suspension and there's a lot of structural bodywork around the engine now . It's going together really well so far, hope that hasn't jinxed it!!
  24. Welcome aboard Ian, that's going to be cool when finished
