  1. It's the Martini Alfa Romeo 155 by Tamiya - it might look like this when it's done
  2. That's looking really good Jonathan, on the home stretch now? Small update - this is how the chassis looks right now, pretty soon much of this will be covered up
  3. Thanks Jonathan, I'm a bit like the tortoise I agree, yours still looks good Shane. I have posted photos of builds that look great in photos but are full of flaws, so I know what you mean . Nice colour though!
  4. Nice work Jonathan, puts me to shame, this is all I have got done so far on the Alfa Put lots of effort into painting the rear shocks to match the front set, only to realise they will be covered by bodywork . Same goes for the intake trumpets, they get covered by a shroud Also got the body painted in white, not much to show yet, will wait till I get some decals on. Speaking of which, they were yellowed and a test one cracked into a zillion pieces when wet. I have Futured the rest to preserve them, but just in case I ordered a new set from Patto's Place in Australia, should arrive next week.
  5. Got this as a birthday treat for myself - second hand, so needed breaking apart and a thorough cleaning. This is how it looks after a couple of hour's enjoyable work - still got a few builds in boxes though
  6. That looks awesome Jonathan, nice polishing job. I've started the Alfa, will post some pics at the weekend
  7. Ouch, sorry to hear that Dingo. is there any way you can adapt a regular kit chassis etc to fit?
  8. Thanks Jeff, I know you've been following this one
  9. Finally finished moved to 'Under glass'
  10. This has been an on/off project for almost 18 months, mainly due to bodywork and paint issues, it fought me all the way. It's the AMT 1939/40 sedan with a mild chop that was covered in a 'workbench' thread. The old worn out sidetrim was replaced with new styrene rod. The chassis was adapted from the R-M 1937 Ford sedan which had the wheelbase shortened and was narrowed at the rear to accommodate the wheels/tyres from the recent Revell 1936 Ford Convertible/coupe kit. Brake discs are by Pegasus. Paint is Tamiya, Metallic Purple with Translucent Purple clear to darken it and add depth. Thanks for looking!
  11. Thanks Jonathan. I don't know how you guys manage to build so quickly and spend so much time on here
  12. Looks great Nick, I built one of those a while back, it was a bit fiddly at times. I've finished my build here too, it went together without incident once I'd got all those decals sorted Has a decision been reached about the racecar CBP or should I post my Martini Alfa here for the time being?
  13. This project has fought me all the way, but I'm on the home stretch now. Covered the original colour with Tamiya's Translucent Purple to give a much better shade. Hope to have this finished real soon.
  14. Yeah, it's a great kit. Here's mine in Tamiya Bright Red
  15. Hi guys There are a few racecar builds going on here, mainly 'road course'. Should they continue here or can the new thread be expanded to include ALMS, JGTC etc as suggested earlier by Jonathan? I have just received a Martini Alfa Romeo which I'd like to share with you, once I have the courage to tackle the ageing, yellowed cracked decals
  16. Another great build Krishna
  17. That Porsche looks incredibly realistic - awesome job
  18. Thanks everyone, Casey, they are actually painted Tamiya Pearl White
  19. Thanks everyone, much appreciated Robert, the wheels, tyres and whitewall decals were all in the kit (the latest issue).
  20. Hi Jonathan It's the Good Smile racing BMW Z4 which won the 2011 GT300 championship. a Fujimi kit I got from Hobby Search in Japan, this is the box art just got the side decals on, took me almost half an hour, they are one piece each . Now I just need to add all the sponsor decals - dozens of them! Also looks like the black window surround needs touching up
  21. Thanks guys. Hi Mark, how ya doin? Engine pic as requested
  22. Had a day at the drags yesterday so only slow progress on the decals - here's how it looks at the moment
  23. Just a quick build inbetween projects that I finished recently. Built OOB except for plug wiring and photoetched grill and scripts. Cutting out the plastic grill damaged the chrome surround , so this was smoothed and replaced with BMF. The rest of the BMF took a couple of nights to apply Paint is Tamiya as usual, Cobalt green, pearl white and, er, black. Thanks for looking. And no, the steering wheel isn't as high as it appears in the pics!
  24. Yeah, they came with this kit. You may be able to see that they are quite thick and shiny, but so far they are laying down well. Should make a cool van
  25. maltsr

    Cobra 40

I hear ya, Bob I have one of those projects at the moment, I made the mistake of posting it on the workbench thread and now I daren't work on it unless it too is introduced to a wall
