The rules only say the foundation subject must be 1979 or earlier, but it also welcomes modern upgrades so GPS is probably okay. I think only the drivers seat has to pass the freak chance there'd be a road inspection. It's understood it wouldn't be carrying passengers if there's no other seats.

I can never understand how your textures, patinas and fittings can be so true to life that scale cannot be determined. A masterful piece of the highest caliber.

Well that's a consideration. I'm sure I didn't. This was built before the internet when I was less informed. When I pulled this out to photograph, I was surprised that there was no adhesive at all, not even gummy, like it was never there.

Adhesive wide white walls
Lunajammer replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Sorry I mistakenly copied this to a wrong thread so this response may be doubled up to another thread but I think it's important to show my experience to vinyl stick ons. Lunajammer, on 05 Jan 2014 - 5:13 PM, said: It only took half a year to get photos of what I tried to describe above, but this is what I've found happens in the long term to vinyl stick on white walls. Well done and very nostalgic. This is how they were for the first several years. I don't recall seeing them rodded out on the street until they became more affordable to the average driveway car guy a few years later. That six makes it ring true.

40 Ford Flat Bed "Old Henry"
Lunajammer replied to doomcrew's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Wow. Really well thought out and carefully crafted. Love the nose treatment, all 40 Fords should've had that. -
Celebs of one caliber or another die all the time. That's why they have such a long memorial on the Academy Awards show. How come everyone stops at three when maybe there's 4, or 24? If you hold your breath long enough at 2, you can be pretty sure #3 will eventually show up. I know the count is done with a wink of an eye, but here's an excellent NY Times article on the statistical reality of celeb death counts. Link. Sad about Don Pardo. Such a revered broadcasting career. He had kind of a cult following as an announcer for NBC among those of us in radio over the years.

Seems to me these responses should distinguish between great guitar performers vs. popular guitar performers. Sometimes they're the same thing. Not always.

It sucks that Jesse Ventura (in a court ruling) buffooned 1.8-million out of the guy. Chris Kyle had allegedly damaged Ventura's reputation by letting it slip that, according to the book, Ventura was the unnamed guy he smacked in a bar for badmouthing the Navy SEALS. As if Ventura needed any help damaging his own reputation. That's the sad irony. Yet Kyle, or rather his family, still has to pay. Way to be a public servant Jesse.

This actually is on my computer at work. I'd like to borrow some influences from it for a project. -
The Most Embarrassing Cars To Drive
Lunajammer replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Good stuff there . Donk isn't an automotive styling, it's a sound effect made when the owners of those cars smack their heads and ask how they ever got roped into spending so much on such foolishness... and still can't really drive anywhere. -
Nicely done Tulio.

Bogus Bands... it depends on where the scale tips. Foreigner is still going, even though there's only been one original member for years. But Mick Jones was the founder, chief songwriter and vortex since its inception. It's his band to do what he bloody well wants. Fractional bands that come to mind: Credence Clearwater Revisited, The Doors of the 21st Century (Manzarek & Krieger only). There are many internet articles about bands with only one, maybe two remaining original members. Truth is, most bands hit their heyday without all their original members. There are few bands that have not been in constant flux. Almost every classic rock band through the 90's might as well be called a Bogus Band today.

What a loss. One of my all time favorite films was his second, The World According to Garp. Funny how so many people wish for fame and fortune as a path to happiness. But this shows that sometimes even with the world as your oyster, it counts for nothing. Thanks RW for leaving us with a vast body of entertainment we can enjoy for years to come. I don't think his death will overshadow his accomplishments.

Tony Stewart 8/10/2014 Canadaigua Speedway
Lunajammer replied to Greg Myers's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
But that's part of racing too. Unless both cars are wrecked at the same spot where it's convenient to check on each other, I've never seen a driver circle the track, return to the wreck and park his car amidst the throng of rescue vehicles, as if there's anything he can do but get in the way. Expressions of care between drivers comes later when it can be done appropriately. Frankly, had TS stopped I would have thought it's just a disingenuous public display of concern when there's nothing he can do but be seen by the crowd "caring." I feel very bad for you Bill and anyone else there who had to see it. I saw a guy get hit at our local track and it was sickening. I completely sympathize with your concerns. -
That's pretty funky. Looking forward to the finished details.

The Most Embarrassing Cars To Drive
Lunajammer replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The redo in 2005 is considered second gen and the changes were perceived by enthusiasts as hackneyed. Especially when the vertical, retro grill was basically lopped in half and the lower part was just a horizontal gash in the bumper and the stylized running lights were replaced with boring round ones. Some didn't like the dented (splitting embryo) headlights, though I can appreciate it was consistent with the look of other Chrysler models at that time. -
So retro Frank. Silver with dark red interior was such a common combo back then, it looks so authentic. Nice work. Don't forget to post your photos for the call to the starting line after Dec. 1st.

Photoshopped models
Lunajammer replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Who can forget when editorial Photoshopping was first thrust into the American public discussion when Time and Newsweek ran the same OJ cover photo. However Time was accused of making OJ appear more sinister (guilty?) by darkening the dark tones. I believe this is when he was charged but had not yet been tried. I'm all in favor of color balancing and setting levels but we enter a grey area when, say, more grit is added to a rat rod photo to emotionally sway how the model is viewed, regardless of how clear the build quality is.
