  1. Beautiful. Treasures, every one.
  2. Oh sure, NOW we get a flying car. It was promised almost twelve years ago. That T-Bird canopy sure hits the nail on the head.
  3. I had not planned to be part of this for the same reasons, along with no P-Apoc experience until tonight when I had a brainstorm. Everything I need is on one scrap body. The rest is coming from used up toys. Even some childish toys have isolated pieces of brilliant crisp detail. The ice breaker that started my hail of ideas was a retaining bracket from a toy pistol. Dig around at the thrift stores and wear your rose colored glasses.
  4. I hate to love this thread. Someone I don't know from somewhere in the world got something I don't care about. So why do I keep coming back over and over to see?
  5. My old computer model bench is almost identical to yours Oldskool. It's a little confining but it forces you to stay organized doesn't it?
  6. Looks like you're well on your way and doing a bang up job. But it's not done.
  7. Good stuff Chuck. Looks like it was a productive year... and there's still a few weeks left.
  8. Well now, that is interesting. Very interesting indeed. Judging by how much time I just spent studying your photos, I may have to add this to my reference folder. Don't leave us hanging.
  9. Cell cameras. The "fingernails on the chalkboard" to visualists everywhere.
  10. Excellent stuff, all of them. Shows you certainly know your subject. I particularly like stock cars and Corvette.

    60 Bel Air

If anyone can pull it off Mike, you can. Another superb model.
  12. Heck if this awesome build is an early effort and you're just learning the techniques, I can hardly wait to see where you'll be at next year.
  13. Yeah, that's a beauty.
  14. Yet another stunner. Good job.
  15. Hey everybody, thanks so much for the warm response and interesting comments. This was my first build in almost ten years. It took a while just to get reacquainted with my tools, techniques and dried up supplies. For better or worse, I think I'm back, thanks in large part to the fellowship of the online community. Chuck, you'd be stealing from the thief.
  16. NIIIICE touch with that fogged stripe. Everything is superbly executed. Now that's a smooth-stah.
  17. This is my entry in Jantrix's Cannonball. It's a Revell VW on a Pinto Modified racer chassis. Custom built rear fenders and lower skirts, I shortened the chassis at the front and rear, widened the Pinto floor, customized a front grill and side pipes, scratch built a rear bulkhead and interior panels and added a Datsun (280Z?) dash. Parts box rear bumper and air cleaner. All chrome, except bumper, is Alclad. Paints were Testors enamels accented with two home made checkers decals. Here is a link to the full WIP http://s1229.photobu...l%20Run%202011/
  18. It's not the New and Improved and I can see the chrome is already cracking. HOWEVER, even though I might not trust it for detailing, I'll bet it would be good for broad areas or even for masking.
  19. Sadly, in my case, the sum of its parts was greater than the whole. Nice kit as a unit, but the wheels are awesome and engine, suspension, etc. etc. so chop, chop until there was nothing left but a mess.
  20. A superb tutorial and outstanding results. Thanks for the clear and specific information.
  21. Good news. Another retail outlet adding models. Bad news. Revell 1:25 '32 Ford 5 Window Coupe Model $41.99
  22. Personally I like ebay too. I've made good, carefully considered purchases. The problem is that there are so many sellers with... um... exaggerated "free market" prices cluttering your browse that you feel like you're just wasting your time. The problem is the patience it takes to pool through all the pages of items that you know will never sell. But that's not ebay's problem. On a side note, ebay is a great research tool. I've learned as much about kits by looking at ebay ads as I have by reading articles.
  23. That's absolutely beautiful. I'm glad you didn't mention the mistakes because I wouldn't know them to see them. I just see a meticulous rich piece.
  24. That's such an amazing and mysterious engine. Looks great! Except everyone knows the wangdangler went into the snufflewuzzer only on the 68's.
