Cannonball Run 2015 " The Sleeperball"
Lunajammer replied to wagonmaster's topic in Community Builds
The fit of the Audi Chassis to the PT Cruiser is divine. But the wheelbase is too wide and the wheels sit up in the wells so far it looks like a low-rider. I need to bring them in. The upper and lower A-arms have been shortened and dropped in an effort to raise the body. A-Arms reattached to the bracket. Left is uncut, right shows mod. This this was the first suspension piece and the scars show a few miscalculations, but the others are coming together nicely. -

Sometimes I think they just want to show (brag?) about what they have. Mostly it's for show, but for the absurd price for the buyer who just has to have it, they'd sell it. You and I, Richard, are not that person. I take no pity upon those folks just want to cart them around set up the same models year after year like business cards.

I saw the SNL performance and found her intriguing. Music wasn't bad. The support performers were pretty weird but if you accept it as performance art and try to appreciate it as a form of artistic expression then I'm okay letting them do weird stuff... I don't feel threatened by the unusual. I had to Wiki her last night though. Family of artists.

Yeah, you can't go wrong with a red like that. If you polish out the rest of the car the way you usually do it's going to look spectacular. What you've already done looks great.

Side 1 of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" ...
Lunajammer replied to 1972coronet's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I saw them perform live maybe 15 years ago at an outdoor concert. During this song, some hopped up fan ran on stage, then jumped spread eagle into the crowd to body surf. In true Fargo fashion, everybody cowered back and the kid face planted to the ground in a puff of dust.- 18 replies

Plasti-dip as liquid mask
Lunajammer replied to Lunajammer's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The problem I have with Elmers and Micro-mask is if they get spots where it's thin the paint penetrates. Those same thin spots are a bugger to get up too because there's not enough material to lift cleanly. Mostly I'm wondering if anyone's tried Pasti-dip. -
Has anyone tried this? Results? Recommendations?

I don't know if I admire you or feel sorry for you, but I envy you. You have skills and patience so high it's in an area I don't aspire to go to. So I'll just watch, marvel and take notes. Lots of great tutorials you're offering us. Thanks for bringing something we can all benefit from. This is my favorite photo. I should hang it over my bench to use as both a motivation and a warning about modeling. -

I've mocked together the massive Audi V-10 engine and Tuesday chose to convert the PT Cruiser chassis to take the engine. The evening began by salvaging the "doughnut" spare tire. I've always wanted one of these. Spent three hours cutting and shaping the chassis and interior floor, only to return tonight and realize it was a colossal waste of time. I'm back to converting the Audi chassis to fit the PT instead. The Audi is 1/24 and the PT is 1/25 so I need to shorten 5mm. A-arms will be shortened later. BEFORE AFTER... Wheelbase is now aligned. To radius the Audi chassis to fit the PT I used a French Curve, a graphics tool. -
Cor blimey, a smashing bit of glue & paint and Bob's your uncle.

Looking for Herkimer Battle Jitney ideas
Lunajammer replied to Ridge Rider's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
In 1/25 scale, I wonder if this would be a good starting point? For some of the other shapes, I've been inspired with what I've found at the dollar store and toys from the thrift store. -

Wish those guys were still around to continue the dialog. Jairus, were you ever able to follow up with Revell? -

For the record, this is still one of my favorites. It tickles me. -
Definitely some great stuff going on there. Wish I could master weathering like that and the shed shot is superb. The melted plastic is always a tough one though.

Ira, you should collect all your wackiness in a book. You produce so much imaginative and well executed stuff. I'd like to see it all in one place, like an Ira Dahm museum or something.

The Audi came today so I guess this is my official entry. I reserve the right to get in over my head and dump it in favor of something more elementary. -

Pretty slick. Nice work. If you want to pursue fuller coverage of your work in print, take a serious look at the article and photo submission guidelines in this forum. The same principles will apply to most other mags. The more you can do to make an editor's job easy, the better your chances of being published. -
