This is just about ready for paint also. Made up some loading ramps, and reinforced the frame. The floor will now sit inside of the grey frame sides, and will fit tight.
-
Once again I got side tracked. These are just the mock up pics so far. I have the main frame done, and cut the wood for the floor. Long way to go yet. Gotta get it to the track somehow.

Some more body work today, filled in the holes for the taillights. Made a steering column, and bracket, and test fit the seat. Then made mounts for the retainer pins for the hood, and trunk.

Don't know where to post this, so I'll do it here. These could be used for many applications.

New modifications made. To be legal back then Centerlines weren't around yet so I had to modify them. Gave them a bath in Easy Off Oven cleaner to remove the chrome, as they will be painted. Also fuel cells weren't the norm, except for the sprint cars. You were allowed a 10-15 gal tank.So I modified the fuel cell also. This is what I used to make the wheel disc's. Finally the new modified wheels. Also found a new seat closer to what we had back then, from the AMT DD Kit for the Fiat.

Parts kits - what's your favorite?

Don't think there is a "Master List", as each builder uses what he/she needs for their build. -
Jake you could also reduce the size, and then just print it out. Trim it, and use Crytsal Clear window glue from Mircoscale to attach it.

Now that I have it again Tony I have some ocea front property in Arizona I'd like to sell you.  Seriously though, doing this build is almost like building the real one. When I think I got it done, I remember something else. Have to make a set of headers for it yet,, as I got the engine drilled last night for wiring.

Another session at the bench. And the build continues. Modified a set of shocks from a NASCAR kit to double shock the rear end. Added more bracing, and reinforced the front corner. This is the side that took the brunt of the force going into the turns. Also you can see the headlight covers I made. Needed some gauges, don't want to blow the engine. Made from decals, sheet plastic, aluminum tubing, and split O-rings for necklaces. Got the rims soaking to remove the chrome, before they get beefed up, and repainted. Didn't get to much accomplished today, as I had to play nurse maid to my daughter, she had surgery, and all went well. Nothing major, just redo of a old injury.

After another 7 hours at the bench here is the new progress. This one is taking on a life of it's own. Added some more interior bracing. Made up a fuel cell, and drive shaft safety loops. Radiator brackets. Gutted the grille. Finally found some tires, and rims. The rims will be stripped, and reinforced, then paint a solid color. Not shown are the headlight sheet metal pieces, as they are still gluing. Need to make shock brackets next then off to paint.

Off to a good start.

They do make some nice kits. Lots of stuff to choose from in this scale, just depends on how complicated you want to get. Also you can scratch build a lot of different building to fit your needs. Check out Walther's web site for a ton of stuff. Kits, and accessories like doors, and windows.

That was a color wheel for lighting up your Christmas Tree. It came with red, blue yellow, and green if I remember right. It was also used in car shows to highlight some of the radical Kustom builds. Your small details like the bug sprayer, and such are absolutely genius. Back in 57 we didn't have a garage our car sat outside.

I get easily distracted, so while I started on my Daily Driver build I dug this one out, and started hacking away. Basic cage all from 3/32nd tubing. All braced up, and ready for some fender banging. Possible dash board, from a Monogram NASCAR kit modified to fit. Gutted engine bay. Checking tires.
-
That is what I was thinking also. Possibly some sponsor decals for bracket cars.

I took the plunge

Congrats and welcome to the club. Been 27 1/2 years for me. -
These have a good potential for rebuilds.

Some of my surviving art. These two were done for van murals.

I have 1/2 of the basement for my shop, and am encroaching onto the other side. Got stuff stored between the floor joists also.

One of the old Monogram dragster kits also had a Christmas Tree Starting light. I think it was the Snake, Mongoose kits. Also there was a 2 wheel trailer like a small U-Haul open trailer that came with the 62 Chevy Wagon, and later re-released. -
What we do for our hobby...

My friends have known for years that I build, and they are amazed at what I can do with different things. I finally got my wive to get over it also when I would get into some strange areas of the stores. Also it didn't help that I was manager of a small craft store back in the 80's. Amazing the things you can do with all of the beads, and bangles. BTW no offense for the pic. -
Makes me cold. Here's a tip Woodland Senics makes a snow powder that is really nice. It should be in the model railroad section of your LHS, or you can get it through Walther's.com
