I found this one back in 1983, and dragged it home. 51 Merc 4 door, got it for 200 bucks.

Glad I read this thread. I went and checked it out, way too funky for me, so went back to the old style.

I find that I have honed my painting skills by doing figure models. Also that I can do scenery better than I thought I was able to. Lucky accident on this one. So I figure my skills are getting better.

Most of my collection I divided up between my 2 kids. I told them to come over had everything on a table, and told them to start picking. What was left I sold or traded off. I still did keep about 25 built ups though for myself. My most recent one was the Witch model I built this summer. A neighbor at the lake thought it looked neat, so I gave it to her. I can get it back for contests when needed though if I want. Also I have a couple of diorama's on permanent display at the LHS in the window. The one has been there for 20 years now, and people still comment on it.

Frank, Great job. Yeah practice makes it perfect. Here are some patterns for you. I got these at a benefit auction a couple weeks ago. The guy uses plexiglas scrap that he paints then practices on it. The top piece is half a MC tank he bought, and restored. Of course these were with a brush, but neat designs,

I had the same experience with Moeibus. I lost a section of a roof for the Bates Motel. I wrote them, and said I would pay for a replacement. 2 weeks later got the roof, no charge.

Started out cleaning up the shop, when an idea hit me. I took these. Then did this. And finally a mock up.

Have to agree this one was a nightmare. Plus it was in Italian.

This one has won many awards, but the best was when it made it into the SAE Merc issue. (SAE#24) Was picked for the readers Merc section. I bought 10 copies of that issue.

Dodge Dipolmat with a slant 6 engine. Plugs on the slanted side towards the fender well, and a upside down oil filter.
