'Future' warning
scalenut replied to Howard Cohen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
from what I've read on the net , Future is not UV resistant , if that is true, it could yellow with enough exposure to sunlight. people who use it on floors are constantly reapplying it (future strips future) so there is probably not a need for it to be. I use to put it on my model rockets and some have yellowed over time,, I can't say if the future is yellow or the actual white undercoat. but I could easily grab one and strip some off to find out. -

Doc I placed last year ,,,....I was hoping my build got me there. but I know what you mean...it's really a toss up.. I just got lucky -
if you can only afford the neo go for it ... it's a great beginner AB..plus you do get the iwata 5 year warranty
-
just be gentile with it ,, it stretches out of shape easy. typically it's cut directly on the object it's applied to because all it takes is just a light score with the blade just the weight of the knife.

don't overlook the badger krome, it's an excellent airbrush. plus you get a nice case ,2 different needles and tip assembly's and a lifetime guarantee. for the same money as the iwata.

Is this what passes for Pro Built?
scalenut replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think I have it figured it out ,, I was looking at some of his other auctions. everything pre built he is calling pro built any loose kits that have a painted (or half painted) body he mentions pro painted body when I think he means pre painted I'm wondering if he means pre built, because he has some other auctions that say model with pro painted body,, and they are terribly sprayed.... but are painted .. I honestly think he is confused between the words pro and pre. that would make sense of the whole thing.. a grammar issue -
If you get a sheet of frisket , a trick I learned is you can run it thru your printer and print the art on the backside, than you can see thru the frisket and cut it out.(you might have to cut the sheet down to fit the printer first) you can draw in paint or whatever drawing program comes with your computer just remember to click "mirror image" before printing. unless it doesn't matter which way it's flipped..like simple stripes

Help bidding on ebay
scalenut replied to Hypermung's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have stuff on ebay now and I always offer international shipping . it's not rocket science ..the person enters their country and it tells them what shipping will be and it's automatically set. I don't have to do anything but turn it on it's not any more hassle.. once the auction is over I print the shipping label directly from ebay already filled out.. with free confirmation ,, slap it on the box and send it out. if there is a customs label needed , you simply fill it out and print it .. it's a very simple form.ebay will hold your hand as much as you need .. it's just that a lot of people are lazy .. they don't want to click some extra buttons , or turn on international shipping. too bad because many outside bidders are willing to pay whatever it takes to get an item. If I don't get paid ..it don't get shipped.. they can't trick paypal -
nice 1:1 photos ,,, now lets see those models you were talking about

Is this what passes for Pro Built?
scalenut replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
pro is short for professional .. or a persons profession ,, aka job... if your job is building model cars .. your models are "pro built" and if your "thekingofmodelcars " well ...don't know what to say about that -

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
scalenut replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
I won't be able to start mine for a week or two , but this is the base model I'm going to do a little dio with a piece of track...I'm thinking after the apocalypse we will have to go back to coal and wood for power. it's plastic and a "vehicle" -

Need more specific thread titles
scalenut replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree x20 !, especially when doing a search . If you do a simple search for bare metal foil , there is so much to sift thru, way too many threads contain those words. if you do a topic search on bare metal foil ... much better ! if the title is cryptic , many good posts get left behind. so creating cryptic titles really hurts those who like to use the search feature a lot...like me I don't think it's a big deal in the general rambling category but when asking about tips, techniques, that can help others It's really helpful, to have a descriptive title. it makes this goldmine of archived information here more accessible -
