  1. For years I’ve been using a desk Ott Light, but lately it doesn’t seem to be as bright as it used to be. I don’t think they even make the bulbs for it any more, so I’m curious on what lighting everyone uses. My daughter uses an LED Ott light and while it’s bright it only covers a small working area. Any pics suggestions would be most welcome, thanks.
  2. Here’s some more of my drag cars.

  6. Looking good, can’t wait to see completed pics!
  7. Great start . Kit instructions are only the beginning, there’s a lot of planning and thought needed before building a model car. I consume copious amounts of coffee and spend as much time planning as actual building..... and I don’t have half the talent a lot of people on this forum.
  8. No, the car was painted a orange that had a lot of red in it, in magazine photos it some times appeared more red. He carried the same paint screams on his Camaro, and his 65 Plymouth S/S car.
  9. Coming along nicely! Looks great!

  14. On the real car that was to car it was to give more space between the hood and the distributor / spark plug wires.

  17. Just amazing! Way beyond my skill set!
  18. I finally got a warm day and decided to get some color on the body. Some time ago there was a post discussing the Color of the California Flash cars. I have an old Drag Racing Magazine that showed details of the 71 Butch Leal car, as at that time, this was a pretty trick car. It stated the car was painted orange. I went through my paints and decided that Model Master Chevrolet Engine Orange looked like a very good match. I will let it dry good and mask the stripes.
  19. Hey Bubba, in the early years of Pro Stock there was a lot of experimenting on hood scoops. The rules stated the carburetors had to be covered and with tunnel ram intakes and carbs sticking through the hood, Racers got creative. Butch Leal’s idea was to funnel as much air to the carbs as possible, so the design was to direct air into the carbs. Hope that answers your question.
  20. Thanks for the comments, very appreciated. I need some good painting weather.
