  1. The 72 car had Cragar Trick wheels, the kit came with the 71 Fenton wheels, I struggled with this as I wanted the originality of the kit to remain intact. I only had the kits rear wheels, so I opted to go with the Tricks. I returned to getting the car to sit right and the wheel falls right between the original mount holes so I’m filling them and will drill new holes for the front wheels.
  2. I removed the center console, filled the transmission tunnel, removed the rear seat, I smoothed the dashboard, and made the rear interior panels. Again it’s not perfect but I’m having to learn to model again without full use of my finger. I removed the washer motor from the firewall and it looked too plane so I added the pinch weld so common on dusters. I also started the roll cage, kinda dumb I guess as I was planning full windows and most of this will never be seem.
  3. It’s been a while since posting anything on this project, so I thought I needed to do an update. Something went terribly wrong somehow i this has turned into a major project that I never intended. After cutting out the wheel wells, I made new tubs, I didn’t like the gaps between the body and the chassis, so I added new rocker panels. The real car had sub frame connectors, so I added them. It’s not perfect but it will work for me.

  11. I had no idea of what category this would fall into while I was building it, so I decided to put it under glass when it was finished. If you’ve read my last couple of posts, you’ll understand I’ve been saving all these great kits to build “some day”. I’m a builder, not a collector! After a recent hand injury, turning 63, and accumulating more aches and pains that I won’t get into, I’m building this stuff before I can’t do it any longer. Several years ago, I purchase a model car collection from an old man. There were several built, partially built and unbuilt kits. Nothing newer than 1962. This trailer was part of that collection and I believe it came with the SMP 60 Ford pick up that I have. The truck is built as a mild custom, there was no box, so I’m not a hundred percent sure. I have never seen a more complete trailer kit though. I built this to go with my 62 Ford Galaxie drag car, and a soon to be built 62 Ford pick up from the same collection. The axles were bent and I heated and straightened them with heat. I mixed Gloss black and semi gloss black as I didn’t want it too shiny as trailers aren’t usually very shiny. I didn’t put all the trim and marker lights on the kit as I wanted it a little simpler. The decals were cool, but there toast. Hope you enjoy, comments and suggestions always welcome.

  19. Thanks for the great comments everyone, much appreciated. My finger starts hurting after a while and I have to rest it occasionally. It will get better. And next on the bench is my AMT 62 Ford Uni body Pick up. Another restoration, has anyone got a set of spare hood emblems. I also have the trailer to build.
  20. Grew up in this era, N50 x 15s and HiJacker air shocks. Love it!
