  1. Hey there mate! I've only got three years on you being 23, but I'll offer what help i can. Now for removing plastic effectively, I'd say use a 230-250 grit paper followed by 800 grit these are Australian standards so might be different there. What I suggest is, find a heap of sh*t glue bomb that's covered in paint, get a heap of varying grit papers and go for it. Use bondo here and there and let the learning begin. Hope this helps.
  2. Jimmy Shine would be proud to see this. Well done mate!
  3. Kudos to you mate! that made me lol!
  4. That is a heck of a lot better than i could do in four hours! Well done mate!
  5. Hahaha! Proper British hot rods! This I've just got to subscribe to! Look forward to seeing more!
  6. I'm just going to have to get into 1/16 now! the amount of detail I'm seing just draws me in like a kid to a candy store! I'll watch also.
  7. Thanks for posting this up mate, it made me smile My good mate Mark used to have an R32 drifter called Doro. I wanted to build a replica of it for him because he and I spent many a weekend working on it. Thanks again champ
  8. Keep at it mate, this is going to be a really nice clean build. I find that the best way to model is to never compare yourself to another, but to learn from your experiences and build on them. I'm proud of every model i have made, even though my paint almost always looks shocking, hence why i mostly build rat rods I'll be watching this thread
  9. I'd clock in about 60-70 hours per week easily. I only work weekends however so I suppose it makes sense. Lately a lot of time has been occupied by "Parts box specials" rat rods built from whatever I can find in the parts box.
  10. put the smoothies back on and this will look insane!
  11. If I may offer my opinion, I'd love to see this truck riding on wide white walls and smoothie rims just bagged out. I'd put a four link in the rear and dual A arms up front. Just my two cents, but a bit of fun anyways
  12. Man this thread is going to be amazing! Come on 53 bug kit! There's gotta be one out there somewhere
  13. If enough people are interested I can do an instructional tutorial video on "Pastel Speckle" painting. Under 5 minutes sound okay? Let me know and I'll whack it together for ya.
  14. So.... am I in?
  15. Awesome! Only downside is the Monogram kit is a multipiece body. Wish me luck mate. Put me down for "Club Permit 1959 Ford Galaxie"
  16. Cheers guys. I'm relocating today and tomorrow to a larger Hobby room so I may not get time to post the more recent pics but you should see it now hahaha!!!! it looks like pure concentrated evil!
  17. Can I enter with a build up i want to do of my mates car? Its a 59 Ford Galaxie with Cragar wheels, white walls and pinstriping.
  18. I think it makes a brief appearance, I might look into it. It's debut was definately in Tokyo Drift though.
  19. Unfortunately due to modifications I made to the chassis it didn't like lining up with the body so i used masking tape to help it adhere to the body. The masking tape somehow reacted with the paint and ate into it. Cheers for the comment mate My experience with paint comes from my father, he used to be a pannel beater and told me a heap of old tricks from his childhood and teenage years that they used to do to make there cars stand out on a budget. Sometimes resurecting styles from the past really makes a model stand out. That and combining flames with two tone is something I've wanted to try for ages!
  20. I Love it!
  21. Hey guys. I got bored of looking at my '32 Ford looking like a glorified sleeper with a five litre Mustang engine and airbags, so I 3/4 cut the frame and added the rear end from Edd Roth's Beatnik bandit, slung the body over it and noticed I was on to something. I've now gone fenderless with this project. She's running a Ford Boss 302 topped with '53 Corvette Carbs and running Drag pipes with chromed flanges. (Pics soon) Wheels and tyres are also from the Roth kit. More pics soon. The original Car: Progress so far:
  22. A bit more progress sees this model almost complete. Just have tail lights to fit now.
  23. Its at the very end of Tokyo Drift When Vin Diesel takes on the Newly Crowned DK (Drift King) Los Bandoleros is playing in the car, awesome scene!
  24. Yep, I use automotive body filler because I'm very accustommed to working with it. XJ6, I used a plain Purple auto paint then misted hot pink over the top to get a speckled effect. Looks pretty cool hey?
