  1. I haven't built the Revell of Germany kit yet, so I'm not exactly sure what's involved it removing the 8-bag suspension. Don't see why you couldn't though. The VT930 will probably fit better as that frame is "fitted" for the 3408.
  2. I believe that was Anthony's truck. His posts tend to come & go.
  3. Tim, Was it a V903 or a VT903? Auslowe now has a VT903 available. Hey, Ben, get crackin'!!!
  4. Jbot offers decals for the "In Tandem" W900, the "Movin' On" W900, and the "In Tandem" K100. You'll still need the Revell of Germany cab to make the "In Tandem" W900 as there are some differences between the 1972 cab & the 1973 cab. Most notably the door handles. As far as the AMT W925, it's a cast of what's "on" the isn't exactly what's "in" the box. I believe that the earlier AMT Kenworths actually had the torsion bar suspension so they were W925s. When AMT switched to the spring suspension in the kits, th truck "in" the box became a W923, but they left the box the same. It really isn't that big of a deal as it's still a W900 Series. Kenworth stopped calling trucks W923, W925, etc. starting with the 1973 model year; and just starting calling them W900. Which is where you get confusion, and some people calling these trucks W900A. Kenworth never made a W900A. It was W900, then W900B in 1983 (I think).
  5. Well, the good news is Round2 is reissuing the Freuahuf 40ft Van trailer later this year, so you should be set there. Now, ready for the bad news? The AMT "Movin' On" Kenworth is not even close to correct. The kit is AMT's 1968-1972 Kenworth W923 (or W925 if you're lucky enough to get the torsion bar suspension) with some "Movin' On" looking decals thrown in the box. The actual truck used in the show was a 1974 Kenworth W900 with a VIT interior. So, if you want to make an accurate "Movin' On" Kenworth W900, here you go. First, you'll need the cab, interior & sleeper from the Revell of Germany W900 or T900 kits. Keep the hood from the AMT kit. Second, you sort of have a choice of engines as there was more than truck used for filming. You can either use the NTC350 from the AMT kit, or you can use the Auslowe Cummins VT903 (which is what the truck had if you asked Sonny). For this year Kenworth the engine should be white. Third, In order to fit the 60" sleeper, you'll probably have to streatch the frame. You'll also need to get a set of the Tandem Torsion Bar suspension. Eric Jones (aka Porky) offers it in resin. This might help, too: http://timstrucks.site.aplus.net/images/images_oct/sonnycolorchart.jpg
  6. Good luck, Doug. Don't forget to post pics!
  7. Auslowe offers a resin V903 and a VT903 (perfect for Sonny's truck). I'm not sure how popular the V/VT903 really was, but is seen some fleet trucks on Hank's with them in them.
  8. Amazing work! Absolutely beautiful. I hope this one makes it to Fulton; I'm looking forward to seeing it.
  9. Looks like you've got another winner here, Ben! Now, if you can just keep the 800-lb Yellow Gorilla away.
  10. Tim, you clean 250 models with cotton balls? Wow!
  11. That looks really nice. Are those wider tires I see on the front? I like the paint scheme, too. Very 1980s. If I remember correctly, the fit on this kit is really terrible, but it look like you've overcome the fit issues.
  12. Something new to add to the "Projects" list!
  13. The entire engine? That's a pretty good idea.
  14. Richard, there's nothing there on the link. They must have sold out.
  15. Very nice. Good job all around.
  16. Add me to the list!!!
  17. Ray, What I did was took some aluminum flashing and cut a REALLY think strip (which curled up on itself). After I straightened it out, I formed the "bump" of the clamp over a micro drill the same size as the #30 wire I used. Then I cut the "tabs" to size, and super glued it to the front of the tank securing the hose.
  18. Here are a couple of articles that might help: Truck Air Brakes Trailer Air Brakes (this is the article I used when detailing my tank trailer).
  19. Thanks. As of now, my snap Kenworth W900 will be hooked to it. That might change later.
  20. Ok, so I need another project like I need a hole in the head, but I started this livestock trailer last week some time and yesterday I managed to prime & paint some of it. I swapped the spokes out for some 10-hole disks. The hubs are cast resin by Daniel from Plaskit. The trailer will be painted with Dupli-Color Bumper Chrome over grey primer. I just have to make a final decision of the rear door, and decide how I want to cable the spare tire carrier.
  21. Thanks. Took me a while to figure out how to secure them to the front of the tank and have it look "realistic".
  22. So, I managed to get all the decals on the tank, the brake lines finished, and the discharge pipes on. It's not much, but it's something. I'm hoping to have some time in the next couple of weeks to finish this up.
