A few years ago I attended a charity fundraiser that served catered Mexican food. I ordered the lengua tacos, and the caterer (Latina) looked at me (white guy) and asked if I knew what it was. I answered, "Yes, beef tongue." She seemed relieved, and made my plate. I must admit that I haven't had them since, but I would definitely eat them again if they were on the menu. (Not my actual tacos)

AMT 1960 3-in-1 Ford F-100 Pickup Truck
Rodent replied to rekcirb13's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I mocked one of these up with the '60 F100 chassis. If one was to use the Starliner transmission, the trans crossmember would have to be moved back a BUNCH. An easier solution would be to graft the 352 to the blobular transmission from the F100 kit. -
Please visit me in prison when I am convicted of copyright infringement, and maybe contribute to my commissary fund, LOL. Glad I could help.

I don't like to poop on the model kit companies that post on here, but it doesn't really look like a '65 Comet under the hood or under the car either. It looks like a cribbed version of the AMT/Ertl '66 Fairlane which has a bunch of errors itself, plus not looking like a '65 Comet either. I have the '66 4x4 pickup in my stash. It looks mostly unwarped, but it may be the only Mobius kit that I ever buy. Agree on their subject matter being needed in the hobby, but the execution of the Ford trucks, the Comets, and the Novas misses the mark by a bunch.

So, I bought a kit this morning while I was sleeping. When I was selling, I tried to end my auctions on Saturday or Sunday afternoons when bidders in the U.S. had time to compete with one another. This seller decided to end a bunch of their auctions at 6:00 AM PDT on Sunday morning. I had been watching this kit for a few days, and it had seemed to be not attracting much interest other than the first two bids. I launched a bid around 11:30 PM Saturday night and went to sleep. I woke up around 4:00 AM, and I was the high bidder at around $10 under my max bid. Woke up again around 6:15 and paid for my purchase. There had been no other higher bids. I think this kit may be worth $65-70, but I got it for $26 due to the seller not thinking about their ending time. Yay me ? -

future/ pledge alternative?

Best unsolicited advice I ever received was from my neighbor. He told me to stop using bar soap and I would have a lot less soap scum in the shower. He was right! Agreed on the floor polish. I suspect that the folks that still have the flooring that Future was intended for are probably not into doing anything to it past maybe sweeping. -

Yes, the CHP used Montereys in 1970. They were odd cars. Even though the 429 had come online for civilian use, the police package was still the tried and true 428 Police Interceptor. Legend has it that the cowboy cops found them "tail happy" after years of understeering Dodges because Ford added a rear stabilizer bar to the police package. I found one at PickNPull in 1999-2000 and I am 100% certain that they didn't know what they had. The only thing missing was the carburetor. The engine and C6 transmission were intact and I am sure someone got them for $100-200. LAPD used 351C-4V Montegos in 1970 which were probably a good match for the 383 Belvederes they used previously. Nice build, I enjoyed it!

Not anyone that would be known here, but my friend Gary passed on June 1. He wasn't a car guy or car modeler, but as a USAF veteran of the Vietnam era he built some planes that were important to him. He was mostly into model railroading and figures. He also loved 1:1 trains and made frequent trips to Jamestown (current home of The Hooterville Cannonball) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierra_No._3. He was also a mural artist who brightened up the restaurant he worked at as a retirement job. It was a sad rerun of Harry P's diagnosis of "lower back pain" that turned out to really be fast spreading colon cancer. Rest in peace Gary. We miss ya, you little elf.
