  1. The company I work for is a Ford licensee. I can't say what we do, but I think I can safely say that the era when Beanstalk represented them for licensing was definitely interesting. Long past though.

  4. Not sure if you guys are subscribed to HPI Guy's channel, but I really like the unboxings and the builds. I bought a few kits that I probably never would have without seeing them out of the box, and didn't buy a few that I otherwise would have after seeing the build.
  5. This touches on the ignition switch recall and goes on to discuss the cruise control deactivation switch debacle. Not sure how many fires were started, but Ford recalled millions of cars because of it. Having a leaky switch with electrons on one side and flammable brake fluid on the other is bad, m'kay? https://www.autosafety.org/ford-cruise-control-deactivation-switch-recalls-and-history/ All this said, an ICE vehicle fire is quite a bit easier to put out than an EV fire.
  6. Hyundai/Kia is currently having issues with their ABS modules causing fires when parked. I believe that Ford had leaky cruise control brake switches that caused fires when parked and ignition switches that could cause fires when parked or driving.   9. Some of the diehard glue bomb restorers recommend photo-etch saws. Don't have any myself, but it does sound like a good idea.

  12. A radio station here did an amazing job of attracting some "not yet known" bands and some "yes we're known" bands and putting together concerts for $25-40. Many of them were in smaller venues and on weekday evenings. That's where we saw Lit. Green Day was supposed to be here a few times with other opening acts, but they never showed. If you had tickets to one of the concerts they were a no-show at, you got free tickets to the next one they were scheduled to appear at. At the first no-show concert, the first band to play was an unknown "punky" band from Poway, CA. They were amazing, and extremely high energy. Nobody knew who they were at the time, but you are probably familiar with Blink-182 now. We saw them several times, and they eventually elevated to main act.
  13. Saw them in concert here in Crackramento back in the day and the entire crowd was bouncing up and down playing air guitar during this song. Still one of my favorites (favourites). Yeah, but I have personal experience that reminds me you can't hear much of anything in a Fox body other than wind over about 110 mph. Especially a modded one that still has 3.08:1 gears, an SSV 140 mph speedo, and a girlfriend riding shotgun. This is a good one, but must be played so loudly that you will never hear the sirens behind you. Watch the mirrors. Anything Floyd is amazing. The opening sequence to Top Gun is one of my favorites. Can't imagine what it feels like to be spat off of a carrier like that or how difficult it must be to hit the cable landing when your runway is moving up and down. Berlin's Take My Breath Away in the same movie was splendid as well.

  15. I am lucky I didn't burn mine down. I had it in the shop for something (I did most of my own work, but certain things were not appealing to do at home) and got a call that I needed the rubber fuel and return lines in the engine compartment replaced. Surprised that they hadn't leaked a long time ago and the car had less than 100k on it. The hoses weren't in an obvious enough place that they would be seen unless you were looking for them. The only oil leak I ever had was from the thermostat for the engine oil cooler. Fairly simple DIY re-seal with ~$12 in parts. After having a Mustang, I was surprised at how inexpensive parts were for the BMW and how EVERYTHING was still available. I never broke anything expensive, but normal maintenance and wear items were cheaper than the Mustang for the most part.
  16. Yeah, you can get within 10 feet of these and they don't seem to care until you try to take their picture. We have a sizeable population of black-tailed deer along the river as well. Depending on the wind, you can get pretty close to them as well. Again, they abhor having their photo taken.
  17. We have a rather large population of them here in suburbia. They can be kind of skittish, but I have never witnessed aggression. I suspect they are much more acclimated to people than the ones you guys have. They will roost on your roof or your car, and they seem to poop constantly. They know who in the neighborhood has the buggiest/wormiest lawns and make regular visits. I have been seeing a solitary hen on my street for several years during the summer through early fall. Not sure if it is the same one, but she shows up every day at 5:00 PM almost on the dot. Oh, and they don't like their photo taken. It may be because they can't see your eyes when your phone is in front of your face, IDK.

  19. The "smallblock" SOHC I6 (M20) like mine had a belt. The "bigblock" SOHC I6 (M30) and the SOHC I4 (M10) had chains and I believe that all of the DOHC engines are chain as well. I have seen a few pictures of M20 that were quite grenaded when the belt broke.
  20. I I owned a 1990 325iS from 1998-late 2004. It replaced a Fox Body 5.0 Mustang as my daily driver. It was a fairly low-mileage example when I got it. You eagle-eye E30 experts will notice that it had a regular "i" lower front lip instead of the body-color one. It came that way and I left it. The 88-90 iS lips didn't play nicely with curbs and things. This picture was taken just as the odometer rolled up 100k. After owning American and Japanese makes all my life, I was a little shocked at the poor quality of most of the rubber components were. Suspension and frame bushings, fuel lines, etc. looked like the car had been sitting in the desert for 30 years by the time it had 90k. In those days, E30 M3s were still fairly common among mere mortals, so I bought a set of springs and the rear sway bar from a guy who was upgrading his M3. They dropped the car around an inch, and the slightly larger rear bar improved turn in. I installed solid offset front control arm bushings that were OEM on the M3s, new control arms, and a set of Bilstein Sports. The car was much more pleasant to drive, and not harsh at all after. These cars run a lot of caster anyway, and the offset bushings get you another 1-1.5 degrees. I bought a set of 15" BBS cross-spoke wheels from a breaker in the UK and had them refinished. The 15 inch E30 4-bolts are pretty rare in the US. They were only used on the M-Technic convertibles (149 for the US). Side pic showing the drop and the wheels.
