Thanks Dans. Yes, I have a few nearby stores that sell g-strings. What size is the one in the pic? ? Dan C's example that would look pretty good mounted on a round bead on top of a flat round base for my use. The coil isn't quite long enough, but I think it would look better than plastic. I built MPC and AMT kits in the 80s, so I probably have some "baseball bat" CB antennas somewhere, but I wasn't able to find any that had a decent base. Second issue is making a gutter clip so that the car will fit in its case. And drilling/pinning to a diecast.

Anyone know where I could get an old school 1/24-25 whip antenna like this, or at least a decent base that I can drill and use a piece of wire for the mast? TIA

It will be nice when you get to the point where you are able to offer ads to the folks that advertise in the magazine (and others) and dispense with the Google ad thing altogether.

I have seen the black kits at HL. For some reason, I like the Competition Orange more and for $9.99 I couldn't pass it up. I will blow it apart one of these days and add some detail to it, especially the exhaust system. The tips need to be drilled out or replaced with tubing.

While in the rabbit hole that is this thread, I discovered that they were modified Amphicats and Aurora sold them in 1/25. I never built a Monkeemobile or a Beverly Hillbillies truck either.

Used to be a huge NASCAR fan as a kid, thanks to ABC's Wide World of Sports. Dad grew up in northern Alabama and we went back in summer 1974 for a huge family reunion. Dad's brother Joe approached my parents and asked them to let me fly back a couple weeks later so he could take me to the Talladega 500 on August 11 and they agreed (I was an early teenager). Petty won with this paint scheme, to much booing from the Hueyville crowd. Joe got amazing tickets about ten rows back, just past the finish line. It was hot and humid (duh, August in Alabama), so Joe, my cousin, and I all removed our shirts in true redneck fashion. After 500 miles our legs and upper bodies were quite black with tire dust except for where the sunglasses were. I blew out Goodyear boogers for several days, but it was an amazing experience. Not to thread hijack, but I just ordered this kit for old times sake. Haven't built a NASCAR kit since the original MPC kits, but I just ordered this one. If Salvino's decides to market any other ~1962-1975 cars, I am there. Watching this build and any others that I see. I love Tim's NASCAR builds.

Oh, come on Carl. You mean that you didn't want your parents to buy a Banana Buggy? Those were the best part of the show.

I live in the Sacramento metro area. All of the K-Marts are long gone, the closest one is in Grass Valley. The last Sears is going out of business and may already be closed. This is a metro area of 2.5MM and they couldn't stay afloat. Read up on Edward "Eddie" Lampert. It's pretty interesting.

I picked it up Sunday at B&N, but haven't found the time to look at it yet. -

Due to some of his posts on here, I am going to assume that his decals aren't available "the old way" right now. I have been watching his eBay store and if something comes up that I want, I will buy it. Otherwise, I am not holding my breath. -

The one HPI Guy built had pad printed tires, WW on one side and highlighted Firestone Supreme markings on the other. -

It is, it is a GLX. Doesn't take much to change it to an '84 though. Our forum member now has an eBay store: https://www.ebay.com/usr/alden.n?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 He isn't showing any GT350 decals currently, but I know he was planning on making them. There are all kinds of nice Mustang emblems of all years here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/183651171059?hash=item2ac2767af3:g:fiUAAOSw6jJcSTIj Not sure about shipping now with the pandemic. I ordered some back in 2019 and they came right away. -

Got poke in the arm #2 today, and while I was wandering around Walgreens waiting for the spousal unit, I picked this up. Looks very nice and was only $9.99. Needs a little Rodent-Fu but that won't take much time. When we bought the 2018 Focus (new) the dealership had a white 2012 Boss 302 on the outside showroom pad. I really like them, and they were a helluva track monster until being eclipsed by the current generation Mustangs.
