  3. LOL. I worked for a couple of Ford dealerships as a service advisor, dispatcher, and assistant service manager from 1986-1994. I remember the M50D bolted to the 4.9L, but am having serious brain fade remembering any manual 5.0L trucks. The 4 speed OD was basically an aluminum toploader, with a new tailshaft and top rail shifter. The whole thing was built by Tremec. Looks like Randy got himself a nice solid ride, probably for pennies on the dollar. #thumbsup
  4. Yeah. As far as I remember, the light duty manual was a 4-speed OD (3rd direct, 4th OD). It was also used in Mustangs until it was replaced by the BW 5 speed in 1983.
  5. 5-speed overdrive in a 1981?
  6. Absolutely. The D88 stripes were a stand-alone option that was also available on a regular Malibu HT or convertible in theory and would have had to have been ordered on non-cowl induction cars. I doubt that many dealers/customers had them deleted from cowl induction cars, but it is certainly possible. Seen a lot of bench seat 70 SS cars as well, back in the "pre-clone" days. One of the funniest April Fool's Day jokes I remember was a few years ago when the rumor spread that Chevrolet found copies of all their build sheets from the 1960s-70s.
  7. Not exactly. Ticking the box for cowl induction got hood pins and stripes as well.
  8. This? Would be easy to resize this and print with an inkjet on white decal paper. Cutting on the edge of the outer border would be tricky, but possible.
  9. As a matter of fact, when visiting The Republic of Ireland in 2004, I saw a Nissan Micra that was done up in Garda livery. The light bar was almost as large as the Micra. It was on Garnish Island, so I don't think high speed pursuit was a priority. Sadly, I didn't get a photo of it.
  10. Maybe...... To me, it depends on what you are painting. Some of the "chrome" is really heavy and a few layers of paint over that will further obscure detail. You might be surprised at how much crisper the molded part looks without its chrome.
  11. Just look at AMT or MPC chrome wrong and it comes off. Revell chrome (in my experience anyway) has a much tougher undercoat layer to remove. You will probably need one of the stronger strippers like the Easy-Off for that.
  12. I learned a little more about the 70 Chevelle SS recently. That white car doesn't have the D88 hood/deck stripes because they were optional. When ZL2 cowl induction was ordered (which the white car doesn't have), the D88 stripes were standard but could be deleted. Kind of makes my head spin a little.
  13. Donner Lake. I have boated there in May. It's still cold then.
  14. I am really surprised at how large the trunks are on these things. I live near a popular bike trail, and there is a guy with an Si coupe that rides here almost daily. His bike fits in the trunk and the trunk closes.
  15. I guess it must be a thing in the South......
  16. Thinking there is a bunch of room under the hood for a triple cooler: Beer, bait, and catch.
  17. What's odd about this build sheet is that it appears to call for white wheels, not the SS style. Very strange. There is a guy on YouTube that travels around looking at (mostly) LS6 cars and checking them to make sure they are real. Just another late night rabbit hole, LOL.
  18. He also moved to Floriduh. Follow him on e-Bay and you will be notified when he lists kits and builtups for sale.
  19. I don't know why I never got one of these. I hope Revell reissues it soon. It's a favorite subject and a very nice build!
