68-72 Suburban scratch build
64SS350 replied to 64SS350's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
So I guess mine is a cross between a panel and a suburban...... Actually had two 1:1s in the family myself, but two young or not as interested back then. I thought the options were two or four doors, which I considered also. But I guess the panels only had two front doors. But if you look at the development/prototype photos, they show two or four doors. Thanks for the info. -

Well this is a two door, and as I stated, I planned on splitting the seat. I chose a center split. -

Changed direction a bit, chose front seats, made the rear two. After looking at these pics, I remembered I wanted/need to make the second row seat a split bench. Nothing a saw or scriber can't fix!! -

The more I looked at the roof, I had to change it. I restructured my jig and contoured it a bit more. Here's a good start to the interior tub, looking at the front panel, I may change that now too. -

Some updates, I have been doing a lot of bodywork to get details a bit sharper and correct, (some rework also....). Roof is mounted, filling in window trim, including rounded section near the rear most pillar, cut in gas filler port. I know the roof looks flat, but I did shape a contour into it. -
No decals, and yes that paint scheme will be difficult. Maybe someone will do decals for me by the time I get to work on it.

The Vette kits are from a maker on eBay called....The Parts Box. If you order, note that when I received my parts, they were grippy to the touch and flexible. Upon inquiry, he stated to put them in the sun for a bit, I would regulate that upon temp. I placed them out for several hours on an overcast day and seen a big improvement. I may put some out again for a time. Some layering is visible, but the parts sand up very nicely! Note the Vette is also made in larger scale, tempting!!

The decals came from Germany today for my Porsche 917/10 builds, 1/12 and 1/24 scale. A few others coming Wednesday from Indycals. These are absolutely beautiful! Amazing workmanship!

That should have been a great time to be watching the circuit! I have gotten into watching the GT races for the last couple of years, love some of the new cars, but sparked old interest in the older cars as well.

What is the bestway to pleat this door panel?
64SS350 replied to Len Woodruff's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would do a layout, draw a reference line at the angle you want. Also draw lines for the center section and cut each piece to length. The first piece laid down will be a guide for the rest. Or, if you use CA glue and keep it away from the center section, you could let them go a little long and trim after. Also prebend the ends around the top, liquid glue will soften the pieces to help. -
What is the bestway to pleat this door panel?
64SS350 replied to Len Woodruff's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That is what I did for the Flintstone Flyer builds. If you are going to use liquid glue, use it sparingly as it will want to wick to the previous piece laid down. Here you can see it(sort of) in back half of the interior, but clearly on the seats -
