80's Chevy or GMC PU
Rob McKee replied to Stephen H's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I haven't seen this in the shops yet. I knew it was going to be coming out but thought it was in May or so. Now I am excited. I am building one of the older releases but I would like to do a couple of more. -
Why its bad to sniff modeling glue
Rob McKee replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
At those prices I could sell my collection and retire early. There is hope for me yet. Rob -

Possible Problem on the '48 Ford tires ?
Rob McKee replied to LoneWolf15's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That`s really good to know. I haven`t run into this problem before but I sure would be frustrated if I did. Now I know. Thanks Art -
Oh ya, that`ll buff right out.

A long overdue update on this little project. The trailer is just about complete. It is painted with Tamiya Mica Blue with gold rims. The rims were sprayed with Tamiya Gold and then clear coated to give them a little gloss. I'll be putting the Jungle Jim decals on the trailer shortly. The van has been built pretty much box stock so far except for the wheels and tires. I used M&H drag slicks on the back which will be mounted to a set of centerline rims from the parts box. The front tires are from the kit with centerline wheels from the parts box as well. The centerlines should give a 70s look and feel. I kinda wish I had opened up the hood as the engine will be completely hidden once everything is buttoned up. Maybe when this kit comes out again I'll do another one with some additional surgery. Thanks for looking Rob

STOLEN KITS / PACKAGE
Rob McKee replied to OLESHEP63's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would have to agree with Greg that the carrier is at fault. They are not to leave packages sitting at a person's door where they can easily be stolen. In Canada they leave a parcel notice and send the package to the local post office for pickup. I have noticed that they check ID when I go to pickup my packages. Shep, time to go to your local Post Office and get them to start an investigation. -
Manny, that is incredible work. The detail you added under the hood, in the trunk, and generally throughout the model is just beautiful. I like to see kits built like this as it shows what really happens to most cars by the end.

Hi Paul, That came out very nice. You managed to get the front and rear clips on so well nobody would know how rough they are to begin with. I haven't given up on my JJ Vega build either. Just working more on the trailer and the van to start with.

Another great deal on Ebay
Rob McKee replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In this day and age I cannot imagine any toy company manufacturing 12 of any item only. -
Wow, that is incredible body work you have done. I can't wait to see the end result.

What are your biggest distractions?
Rob McKee replied to wgflatliner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I never get distracted and focus all my time to model building creating perfect builds every time. Now if you believe that, I have some waterfront land for sale to! -
It's is a tough one. That is why a lot of us buy the distributers already wired. One thing you could try is to drill the center of the distributer out and put the wires into the middle with CA. I have always wanted to try making boots from slightly thicker wire and gluing the boots to the posts on the distributer. Good luck, let us know how it works out.

They both are coming along very nicely Damien and Scott.

Do You Get Into the Modeling Doldrums...?
Rob McKee replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I second this. I find if I switch up and build another subject I get my mojo back to finish or start another car. -

Making my own license plates
Rob McKee replied to Rob McKee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is a great idea Jonathon. I'll have to find some double sided clear tape. Is it like carpet tape? -

Yes, thanks Jonathon. I have played around on all of the sites you referred. You guys all taught an old dog a new trick! -
Making my own license plates
Rob McKee replied to Rob McKee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks guys for all of the suggestions. Although the site Nick suggested doesn't contain every type of plate from each state or province I find it easy to use and very usefull. Thanks again everyone. -
I often see custom license plates on many of the builds here. Is there some software that could be used to make them? Free if possible.
