Sorry, I forgot the wax. I just use regular Meguiars wax from Canadian Tire.

Hey Michael, Duplicolor is good paint but yes you do have to use a primer. It is very thin and as long as you apply the primer and paint in mist coats you won't hide the detail. I have had good results with duplicolor but I have also had some disapointments. If you are just getting back into the hobby and want to get good results I would recommend Tamiya. Use their primer and color and you won't be disapointed with the results. Just my 2 cents. Rob

Welcome Derick, A really good online site to order from is Model Express. http://www.modelexpress.net/ They are a Canadian company located here in BC. Dennis runs the operation and is very prompt and helpful. Another option would be Michaels. I am not sure if you have one close to you but if you do search online for their 40% off coupon. Buying at their regular price is a little steep. Hope that helps. Welcome back to the hobby and enjoy this site. There are many extremely talented modellers here you will learn from. Rob -
Great job, That paint job just jumps off the screen. The only problem with this is I want to go buy one now and build it.

I don't care for it.

Personally I want to become a better modeller so I would prefer an honest opinion on my models. Learning from the constuctive words of those who are better modellers than I will help me improve. Really, we should all be accustomed to this. For example, when we play on any sports team we are exposed to critism constantly which make us better players. If a coach or a team-mate praised when we make errors we would just repeat the errors. When we are in school we are constantly being corrected and told how to improve. On the other hand, I can understand why some may not want the feedback. Modelling is their hobby and they may not want to take it to seriously. They may feel they can learn from doing and watching all of the others on this forum. Posting their builds may just be to celebrate a personal accomplishment of finishing the model. It's a tough call. I guess if the person asks for feedback then it should be given in a friendly constructive manner. Another thing to consider, communcation via text on a computer is difficult. Often the writers mood and the context of the message is misunderstood. We have to try and word our messages in such a way to ensure the reader understands that the message is meant to be friendly. -
YOUR LOCAL HOBBY SHOP ECONOMY
Rob McKee replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We are also very lucky here in Vancouver to have several good hobby shops with a great selection of kits, tools, and after market accessories. The closest to me is 10 minutes away and carries a good stock of paint including my favorite Tamiya. -

Rob McKee replied to Nick Notarangelo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I started working on mine and decided to strip the chrome off the engine in favor of alclad paint. The plastic underneath is the sparkly purple. -
Looks great Tyler. I really do like the cowl hood on it now. What paint did you use on it?

New Coke, man was that a flop. Could you imagine how much that cost Coca-Cola. I wonder if the person with the idea for that still works there? -
Anyone else watching "Two and a Half Men"?
Rob McKee replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The new 2 and 1/2 men isn't as good without Charlie Sheen but they are not bad. My buddies hobby shop has a customer base of more than 90% adults. I think there are many that enjoy the hobby but choose to poke fun at it because it is often viewed as childish. Oh well, I enjoy building models and that is all to it. If someone thinks it isn't cool to do this as an adult I don't care. As Joe said, if being a multi-millionaire booze and drug head is cool then go for it. By the way, even if I was filthy rich I would do this hobby. I would just need a warehouse for my stash. -
1/25 Revell Jungle Jim Vega Funny Car Reissue
Rob McKee replied to oldscool's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
My kit wasn't perfect but it sure soesn't sound like the mess you got. I would call revell and have them send you a replacement. The only issue I have and others I know of is the fit of the rear and front pieces. Takes a little work but it comes out OK with some patience. -

'73 Chevrolet Chevelle- Mastered by Tom Ellifritt
Rob McKee replied to W-409's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I'd have to throw my hat in the ring on this one. My first car was a 73 Chevelle and I just loved it. I guess it is kinda like your first girl you will remember her for the rest for a lifetime. I would really like to build a replica of her. -
For $11.99 you should grab 2 or 3. If you like to customize muscle cars it is great to have extra kits for parts.
-
Alex, your are doing a great job. The body work you have done on the front end looks great. Keep up the good work.

Rattlecan vs. Airbrush
Rob McKee replied to ZombieHunter26's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I prefer Tamiya and Testors laquer spray cans when painting model car bodies. With good prep and patience laying down light mist coats I have had good results from both paints. If I am using a Tamiya color I stick with their primer, color, and clear coat. With Testors I use Tamiya primer, Testors color, and Testors Clear coat. The car on the left was painted with Tamiya and the right was painted with Testors. -
