Wow, just had a look at the progess you guys are all making. Sorry to hear you have to drop out Luke. I have been there trying to paint in snow storms, high wind, etc. It make it next to impossible to get things done. Paul, your S&M car just pops of the page. Beautiful! Doc, love the color you chose for the Cobra. Shane, is that a decal on the hood or dis you airbrush that. Looks great man! -

Hi all, Yesterday was a non-productive day for me. I manage to do some detail painting and work on the engine. Today I did a test fit of the body to chassis and will continue with further detailing on the interior and engine. -
Awesome. Here is a shot of the paint I laid down on the 07 Shelby on the left, and an 06 GT on the right. The GT on the right is being built by my wife as a replica of her 1:1 car. This is her first model build ever so I did the body paint for her. The 07 was shot with Tamiya white primer, Tamiya pure white, then two coats of Tamiya clear coat. The 06 was shot with Tamiya white primer, MM Diamond dust silver, and the two coats of MM clear coat.

My new mentor! Very impressive collection. -
Hey Jonathan, Can I get in on this build. I just started a 07 Shelby earlier this week. I'd love to share the build here.

Kyle, you are just rockin the house here tonight. Looks awesome man. Thanks guys for the comments on my red bomb. I am happy with the progress. Almost everything is now painted so a good drying over night will leave me ready to really make some progress tomorrow. There still will be some minor painting to do but nothing huge. -

I use MM laquers as well and have had good success from them. I wish they had a broader range of colors to choose from in the MM line. -

Hi Jonathan, The paint is Tamiya Italian Red on top of Tamiya white primer. Many say Tamiya is over priced but I would disagree. With the proper prep and primer I have yet to be let down. I also laid down two coats of clear tonight. Tomorrow I'll polish and clear again. Then decal. -

Paint has been laid down tonight. 4 coats of color and 2 coats of clear. Many other parts have also been painted and now will dry over night. Thank goodness for Tamiya paint. -

Well, still moving along here. All parts have been washed, sanded and washed again, and body primed white. We are ready for the color coats. -

Looks great Paul. Geeze, just as shiney as all of the others you have made. I have just washed and sanded down the body of the little Ferrari. Letting the primer setup for awhile here and hope to get the color on her tonight. Will post a couple of pictures shortly. Rob -

OK, I am going to go with something totally different from my usual American Automobile builds. A Ferrari F430. That's right I said it. It is the Revell kit though. I'll have to start mine this evening as well. I won't have much time on Monday to dedicate to this. So I will be trying to wrap this up by Sunday. The the games begin. -
Tamiya....lets get it right.

Drivers Ed car questions (1970s versions)

I took mine in 1981 and the car only had the extra brake pedal on the passenger side. I actually have seen many with the second steering wheel in the last 10 years or so. I thought it was a new thing. -
I just read through the contest rules: Entrants must log on to www.revell.com to enter online. Buy one (1) new Revell or Monogram brand Muscle Car model within the Contest Period (February 1, 2012 - May 15, 2012). The list of eligible Muscle Car model kits can be found at www.revell.com or at your local Revell retailer. Complete the online entry form and submit it electronically along with up to five (5) photos of your model (up to 2 MB per image). Entries must be received on or before May 15, 2012. Entries may not be offensive or defamatory, which shall be determined in the sole discretion of Sponsors. All Entries must be complete when submitted. Incomplete entries will not be accepted. All Entries submitted become the sole property of Sponsors and will not be returned. Limit one entry per person. I looked through the conditions and the entry form, I did not see where it says you must submit a reciept.

Beautiful model Keke. The dark blue and white look great together. Those wheels really look great as well.

I agree with the doc, that engine just pops out at ya. Looks great.

I agree with you that once a model of anything is entered in a contest it should not be permitted again. I model N scale trains and we build modules to a standard track layout for our club. Each member can build these modules to the standard and connect it to the overall club layout. If a member chooses to enter the module in the contest for judging they can. Here is an example:

VERY bad week continues....

John, I am sorry for your loses. I know it is tough when someone close is taken from us but try and look beyond what is happening now. I am not sure what age group you are in but I am in my mid 40s and find that I am going through a similar time with parents, aunts, uncles, and far to many from cancer and other diseases. The best we can do is love our close ones while they are alive and remember them fondly when they pass. Nothing anyone can say or do will bring back those who have passed but they can live on in our memories forever. -
This is why I don't enter anything I have built in shows/contests. I build for myself and really don't care what others think. Not to say I don't listen to constructive critism, it is what makes us better modellers and I welcome it. Main reason for my feelings on this stem from Model Railroading. This is my other hobby (among many) and I attend an annual show where awards are given to paticipants. I have seen some people enter the exact same module (diorama) year after year and win first place. Granted it really is a beautiful piece of work and by all means deserves a prize, but come up with something new. I entered a module I had built and won a first place. It has never been back to the show. Now the awards I am talking about are the Peoples Choice awards. Aside from the Peoples Choice Awards there are judged entries. This is where I see a conflict. I have never entered anything into any of these categories because I have seen entries ignored simply because of the builders name on it. Really, I can't believe grown men who participate in a hobby for enjoyment can give awards to those they know and not to the better builder. The excuses are down to the finest details, too many rivets, color is off a shade, and so on. I still enjoy going to the event each year even though this is going on. I actually feel a little sorry for these people who don't seem to have anything that gives them joy and satisfaction in life other than the hobby. My hobbies are for my enjoyment. I spend money on them that I earn, I build models that I think are garbage, and I build models that I think are great. I run a train on my home layout and sit back with a cold beer and watch it go around. I don't pretend to deliver grain to the grain elevator, coal to the docks, and I don't want to be told I should be doing that or I am not a true hobbiest. So, I decided not to open myself to that type of unwanted banter. I go to the shows, and enjoy and learn from what others have done.
