Oh man. I got auction fever.
Rob McKee replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I get hung up on evilbay from time to time and buy more than I should. I just can't let a hard to find model slip out of my hands. -
An apology.
Rob McKee replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Way to step up to the plate Andy! I would have to agree with the others who say you are not totally at fault. There are some on this forum and others that have nothing better to do but to get a little arguement going. I have seen it over spelling, opinions, and dozens of other minor things. To me, we are here because we all share the same interest in modelling cars and nothing more. -
Ever have a tire shrink?
Rob McKee replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I had to check the date to see if it was April 1rst already! That really is amazing to see a tire shrink like that. It is a first for me. -
Chunky Diamond Dust?
Rob McKee replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No I used Tamiya white primer on both cars. I was trying to get both cars painted the other day while we had a nice warm sunny day and just used the the same can in hand. I would have used Tamiya grey on it other wise. What you don't see in these shots is the diamond dust itself. It has a real fine metallic look to it just like diamond dust. It is a great color and I must say great paint as well. I don't try and do the car in one coat. I follow the same procedure of 2 - 3 light mist coats with about 15 min. in between coats. Then I do the wet coat which gives it a nice shine. The car on the left is painted with Tamiya pure white. I am really happy with the outcome on both cars. -

Here Jonathan, Here is another shot I have handy. I'll take some more later. I have been feeling under the weather today. -

Hi Mike, i haven't had that issue either. The stang in the front is painted Diamon Dust from Testors. -
RAT ROD GRIND HOUSE
Rob McKee replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think the first I saw of it may have been 15 - 20 years ago. These are more like the primered hot rod that comes to mind. Aside from that, in High School there were a few junkers around that would fit the description you gave. I remember a rusted out Chevette 60's on the back and side pipes. I'm not even sure the side pipes worked. lol -
Tamiya....lets get it right.
Rob McKee replied to roadhawg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know they are pricey Mike but you get what you pay for. I just love their paint system and although the cans are expensive, I have never been disapointed with the finish product. I have never built one of the their model car kits. I have a few of them kicking around but just haven't built one. I have built several of their aircraft and they are just incredible. -

I Can't Paint For Nothin'
Rob McKee replied to Old Sprinter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There is also many threads on here that can help. Make sure you get a good paint which is compatible with plastics, always prime, mist on a few color coats, then a nice wet coat, allow plenty of drying time before you mask, use a good masking tape (I like tamiya), and a good clear coat. When you get the hang of it you'll never look back. I sure have room to improve but I am happy I can paint without to many issues. Rob -
'59 El Camino - Done
Rob McKee replied to Paverblack's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Awesome. I love the color! -
I agree with the others your model of the T/A looks great. Where did you get the snowman figure? I have to cast my vote to terrible movie. This movie totally bombed at the box office making less than 6 million. To bad considering the first movie was huge bringing in 127 million. The second movie brought in 66 million.

Hey John. Great build you have going there. Super clean and nicely detailed. I can't wait to see the end result.

I would be happy to send a kit or two to you as well. I still would go to the police with this. They would investigate if they feel there is enough. Maybe this guy is doing this to others in the building as well. A lawyer can't charge this guy, only the police can do that. Don't let this goof get away with it! Let me know about the kits. Rob

Are you saying your apartment manager went into your place without consent and took your models? I would be on the phone with the police if that was the case.

Been away in Hospital
Rob McKee replied to Tom Setzer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Welcome back Tom. Being in the hospital is no fun at all. I have been there myself for an extended stay. They say sleep is the best way to heal, but sleeping in a hospital is impossible -
Man, we get ripped off here in Canada.

I have to agree with everyone here, you will come back to the hobby. Most of us have walked away at one stage of our lives or another for various reasons. My last issue was just a few years ago when I divorced. My ex chucked all of my built models in the garbage and tried to have my stash of kits sold. I got my stash out but lost so many built kits that I had built over many years it left me depressed. I didn't want to continue as well, but 6 months ago or so I returned finding it the best medicine. I don't know what your situation is and I understand that you may not want to share it, but keep your head up. I wish the all the best.

Not sure how much of a difference in price between Canada and the US will be but they are about $12 here. Their primer is good as well and I do use it, but some have suggested cheaper brands from Wally Mart which I think I will give a try. No sense in throwing away money. As it has been mentioned duplicolor is a good paint and you have a great selection of colors.

That intake must suck in birds from time to time. lol

Great build Matt. The paint looks great. I have had that kit kicking around here for years. I guess it's time to get her out and built to honor our very own Steve Keck! How did she get wrecked Steve?
