That is a real nice truck Andy. The tires look great on it. My dad had a 72 and I just loved that truck. It suffered from a little rust so he sold it to buy an 80 chevy pickup. I loved that truck to.

What Is This Guy Thinking?
Rob McKee replied to Patrick2005's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Isn't that the same guy who wanted that much for the Lindberg 66 Chevelle kit? I wonder why he wastes his time and money. Does he actually get a sucker who pays that much? -

There is someone out there that bought the same kit and is missing the instructions.

You ever see Young kids buy models,
Rob McKee replied to rel14's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To my surprise yes I have. During the spring break I was at my friends hobby shop having a coffee and 3 young boys walked into the store. They spent almost an hour checking out all of the model kits before they each made a purchase. Boy did that bring back memories of my friends and I going into hobby shops at that age. Even a bigger surprise, one of the boys was looking over the stamps in the shop and bought some of those. My friend gave them a break on the price of the models and gave each one of them a little book on stamp collecting. I really was moved by this, but my friend told me they come in from time to time. He also said there are other kids who come in as well who are equally excited about modelling. -

Inspection and registration
Rob McKee replied to hotrod59f100's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great thread. In BC they no longer do the safety inspection on vehicles but we do have to go through "Air Care" to ensure our emissions from our cars is OK. Another tax grab in my opinion. I did a little googling on this and found this site. http://www.chauffeurbadges.com/79.html Some of the states listed have the vehicle inspections stickers. -

Oh boy, that is the best model car I have ever seen. The detail is unbelievable! Really though, the 200 is a nice looking car. Congratulations -
That trailer is just awesome.

Another Circus Tractor Finished I can only wish that I could produce a model of such high calibre as you Romell. Thanks for posting your work, I always take away some great tips that is helping me become a better modeller.

The ROOM... no girls
Rob McKee replied to rel14's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My kinda place. I actually have been trying to get my room in order lately because I was getting tired of stacks of models falling over on me. It is a work in progress to get everything organized but I'll get there one day. -
I got the "itch" again...
Rob McKee replied to Sam Cates's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm with you there Scott. Whatever catches my eye in the Under glass or on the workbench sections drives me to acquire kits. The hunt is fun, trying to find old or new kits that trip my trigger at the moment. For example, I just have to get the 1999 Ford F-150 Lightning kit now. I had it before and really want to get it again. Why? I just do, that is why. -
Cool Story - Celebrity Builder/Collector
Rob McKee replied to Danger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Often I find those who are into music either just to listen to or to play an instrument build models. Rod Stewart is an avid model railroader and takes his projects with him on the road. He often rents additional space in the hotel he is staying at to work on his project. Bruce Dickenson of Iron Maiden is also a model railroader. I am sure there are many others who build. -
I got the "itch" again...
Rob McKee replied to Sam Cates's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I cannot get rid of the itch! I am addicted to plastic for sure. The way I look at it even if I buy a kit a week it is cheaper than sitting in a bar or getting into some other form of trouble. This is a great hobby and I enjoy it very much. -

Great story. Thanks for sharing. -
Go easy there mate. Lee has started a good conversation. Sam, thanks for sharing that a lot of these kits get tossed. Interesting, I have been going to the secnd hand shops with the hope I can find a good deal on an old kit. I too have found that they don't have them very often. Maybe that is the same issue around here. I'll have to ask.

There are many people out there that no the old "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" saying. Many intentionally play the rant and rave game knowing all to well that they will get something for it. I am sure we have all seen it where a clerk or a manager just give the person what they want to get them out of their hair I managed in a 4 star hotel for many years and learned to recognize these people. Some would complain something wasn't working right (My favorite is the shower isn't right.) No pressure, too much pressure, too hot, too cold! On legitmate complaints I would be more than happy to reduce or refund the room charges to ensure we didn't lose a good customer. Even when doing so, I ran into a very interesting situation one day. The complaint was about the lack of hot water in the shower. We were having some difficulties with one of the two boilers we had so I really didn't question the complaint. Instead, I refunded one of the 5 nights charged. We would credit the credit card charged. This guy wanted me to pay him cash instead so he could submit the full charge to his company for the 5 nights and pocket the cash. Just goes to show ya, there is always somebody out there trying to con a buck out of someone else.
