I would agree. I build the kits I can get a hold of. When I have the desire to add a kit to my collection I look for the least expensive issue I can find. So, if the recent issue is cheaper I buy that, if the older issue is cheaper I buy that instead. The only exception to this is when I really want to build a kit that had a specific decal set with it. Then I will look for the issue that included the decals I want.

This happened to me and I was able to make them go away with another coat of clear. -
Opinions Please

The show itself has nothing new to offer. I find it hard to follow and don't think it will last to long. -
Gas prices here in Vancouver are out of control. We are paying more than $4.00 for a US Gallon. I am fortunate however to have several hobby shops close by so it doesn't cost to much to get to them. Where these prices are going to impact me is on vacation. We usually drive down the coast to Oregon or California to do some camping. Towing a trailer with my F-150 may just be to expensive for us this year.

model kits in unexpected places
Rob McKee replied to milkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I went into a tackle shop here in Vancouver to buy a new fishing pole and they sold model cars. The owner said he sold lots of them. -
Best Chromed Engine

I have ordered many from them as well. Very nice touch to include a handwritten thank-you note. -
The force of gravity becomes extremely strong during the painting of glossy bodies ripping it from the paint stand and hurling it into the largest pile of dirt that can be found.

Venting a paint booth
Rob McKee replied to shucky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Don't Y it with the clothes dryer. Fume will flow back into the dryer and settle into it. Also, humid dryer air will flow into the paint booth possibly damaging it. There will also be lint getting to your paint booth from the dryer as well. It is best to give it a separate exhaust to the outside. -
Looks great. I would go with a glossy black, carbon hood, and spoiler. I know it is the norm but I think it will look very cool. Nice scratch building on the rear suspension and rear seats.

I used to travel for my job and would find myself gone for long periods of time (3 - 5 weeks) often. Before all of the new security on the airlines I would carry a small tool box with all of the basic tools I needed. I even carried my testors airbrush with a can of air for painting. I would use Tamiya acrylic paints to make cleanup easy using just water. It really helped me pass the time while travelling for work. I was always on my own so there really wasn't much for me to do on those long trips. I would search out the LHS in the area I was and pickup a kit or two. Once all the new secruity came in to play it put an end to all this. I suppose you could get away with packing this in a checked suitcase now but I would check it out first. They may not like the paints. Thankfully I don't have to travel for work anymore but I have some fond memories of building while on the go.

You can also use Easy Off Oven Cleaner. It has always worked for me. I have also painted with the wrong can. Try doing it on a body with flat black. I also used Tamiya paint for RC cars on a body and that didn't work out at all. Both were done just because I was rushing to get it done.

What are the best types of airbrushes?
Rob McKee replied to Kaleb's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would have to agree with the Doc. The Pasche H is a great starter single action brush. You can find them online for under $50 with all of the extras included. After using it for awhile you will get a good idea of what your next brush should be but you will always use the Pasche H. I have had mine for 10 years and I still go to it because it is easy to use and clean.
